Back in 1999 as a 17 year old, 37 seemed quite old really.
I’m 37 now, its scary how quickly the years pass me by.

Tom 441 I was 19 in 1999 now 39 Tom. I know exactly what you mean. I remember 1999 like I am still there. Yet when I look at photos, videos etc it looks so old, yet to myself it wasn’t any different than 2019. True cars look different but houses, streets, shops are exactly the same. However 20 years before 1999 was 1979 and things didn’t look that different yet 20 years before 1979 was 1959 and things looked very very different. Cars, clothes, signs, shops. I would say from the late 1970s things started to have a modern look to them, from which we can relate to today.

I was 19 in 1999. I'm now 43. It does indeed go fast. I was working the morning shift in a nursing home when this happened. Had just finished the shift and was in the staff room when some of the afternoon shift girls burst through the doors and said, "have you seen the news? Jill Dando's been murdered!"

Interesting how this was only 15 years ago, but the studio looks so much more professional and adult. I miss how everything seemed much more sophisticated from the 90s. Nothing was made to patronise people, and treat them like idiots, as it is currently.

In his autobiography he mentioned that he and Jill fell out a few years previously. Apparently a reporter asked him about rumours he was to be replaced and he joked he should 'dye his hair blonde'. Jill apparently took it personally and stopped speaking to him and they never made amends, which he has regretted ever since.

I think that you are right, Sid. I think that with her particpation in CrimeWatch and other investigations, she was going to crack open something major. Barry George, no disrespect to him, is clearly not the sharpest tool in the box. A clean, swift killing like that takes someone who more 'know how', like a professional. Same wrt Princess Di. The CCTV in the tunnel just happened to be out of order when the 'collision' took place in that tunnel. She was also murdered, no doubt. Even her leaked phone calls shows a very scared woman who knew that she could be bumped off

The original Nine O'Clock News music of this period was created in 1988. This version was created in 1993, using an orchestra to enhance the tone, and make it more majestic to coincide with their huge virtual news set. However within a month of this bulletin the virtual set would be no more, and the start of the corporate BBC branding of red/cream look would commence.

It's really sad that Barry George doesn't even remotely match the description of the alleged gunman, yet he was framed because the police needed results, he was the village idiot and fitted some kind of profile. I'm so glad he got acquitted in 2008.

Clarissa - No, of course B.George didn't fit the e-fit because he was just 'The innocent police Patsy' in this case.
More than likely this murder was 'ordered' when she got too close (for comfort) maybe to revealing extremely damning information that she had gathered during her own personal investigations into paedophilia among the high & mighty and rich & famous.
She also knew C.R/Harry Webb or'Kitty' who has always had his fair share of various suspicions and allegations about his 'personal life' following him around, especially since his name came up on that E.G.House List with the alleged paedophillia connections.
Also Alan Farthing's role in all this - he seems to have conveniently appeared on the scene at the right time, for her to both quickly 'fall in love' with and get engaged to - and who has disappeared off the radar/news.
Conspiracy Theorists might say their relationship was contrived to happen!?
R.I.P. Jill - I hope your family will still get the answers and peace of mind they deserve.

    • @secretsquirrel5764
      @secretsquirrel5764 Рік тому +5

From ballistic evidence the police know a silencer was not used. The murderer held the gun directly against Jill’s head which is why a gunshot was not heard by neighbours. He also left a spent cartridge at the scene which points away from a hired gunman. However, I do wonder about Jill possibly coming across evidence of something big during her work as a BBC journalist and this being covered up.

How odd that her brother de-personalised the death of his sister. He spoke about the impact it will have on the audience who have watched her. Very odd...but then the whole thing stinks of a contract killing. Broad daylight, one clean shot to her head which killed her. And the man calmly walks off, no doubt into a waiting car. I would like to see this solved in my lifetime but I don't think it will be...dark powers behind it will see it's never exposed. Poor Jill.

@@riklangham6739 Jill once worked at Sunshine Hospital radio. Some basis research has put Savile here at the same time, so its a possibility that she knew something. My theory is she thought she could be the one to expose him, due to her high status in the public domain and presenting crimewatch. It would have been great journalism. It could have been one of the officers she worked alongside who blue the whistle.

In the states we had an anchor, Jody Huinstruit, that was kidnapped from her apartment in the early morning hours. She was late for work, and was called in to come. Her kidnapper waited for her, and there was evidence of her kidnapping; shoes, hair dryer and keys that led to her car. She was never found.

It was definitely a professional hit, so the motivation is most likely to either criminal retaliation or she had information that made her a threat so they needed to silence her.

    Where did that file go?
How scary that Jill was trying to put away the bad guys and their was no one to put them away.
I'm not blaming Scotland Yard as they was shut down by mi5 who was protecting smith and Savile and many more.
    Scotland Yard said it themselves.
