Spent a couple of days deciding between this and the F20, just ordered this! Thanks for the help deciding :)
Hope it will be lots of fun!
@@AudiophileHeaven Just turned up today, and guess what? It's got a USB C now! Thanks again :)
@@lucacycles8623 Where did you order it from? :)
@@lucacycles8623 USB-C?
mine just arrived after reading through the review on your website. very happy :)
Super nice! Keep rocking out there!
Music is EVERYTHING!
I was considering getting a used iPod and upgrading it as much as I could, but this looks like a much better option. I have now added it to my wishlist.
Thanks!!
I hope whichever you end up with will be a lot of fun!
Really great device, has even 2-way bluetooth (my first DAP with this function), so you can also use it wirelessly as a DAC (from PC or smartphone)..
Wow, that's pretty cool!
The only proper review of this unit, thank you!
Always really happy to help!
I have the newer USB C version that came with a storage pouch, got it on E-Bay for $90 as a open box unit.
Of course it's better than the Fifo BTR 5 because the Fifo BTR 5 is just a DAC Dock, while the Hifi Walker H2 is a DAC Dock and MP3 player and also it's better than a Ipod because anything is better than a Ipod.
Nice to know that the newer version is so much fun!
Thanks for sharing ❤🙏✨😁✌️💯
Always happy to help!!
I've also seen some newer units come with a USB C, so keep that in mind if you're watching this review now
Very good info!
Just bought one the other day, and can confirm, they come with USB C now.
@Mobiwraith Do you know if can control it through the car radio using it with the plug into the radio USB
@@bryanjustin4204 This one I don'y think you can..
@@bryanjustin4204 I unfortunately have not tried that yet, so I'm not sure.
Your reviews are great, I am shopping. I have seen your reviews for HIFI Walker H2, Surfans F20 and HiBy R3 Pro Saber. I'm not sure still which one to get, any recommendations? and what earphones will you pair it? Thank you!
Hiii, R3PRO is most modern and versatile, H2 sounds best and f20 is loudest but had some hissing with iems
I have had the Hiby R3 Pro Saber for almost a year or more. I use it a lot. It sounds GREAT, especially after tweaking the MSEB settings.
Thank's, I'm sold. excellent review mate!
X from Canada
Thank you, and always happy to help!
Good review, I tried a full touch dap before and didn't take long to regret it once I got my full library in there
Hope you will have a lot of fun out there!
Thanks for this. Was looking for a replacement for my 20 yr old ipod that apple doesnt like me using anymore. Difficult for me to hear anything less than AAC files.
Hope it will be a lot of fun to use!
i wish they added a camera to this DAP
and maybe the ability to make phone calls
and browse the internet
then i think it'll be perfect
You can get a smartphone. Moondrop has one, the MIAD-01 I think, should come soon to europe
Just bought myself a late Christmas present, and I'm waiting for it to arrive.
By the way, the company says that to update the firmware, the SD card must be formatted with FAT32. Problem is, most come formatted with EXFat, and Windows will ONLY format large SD cards as EXFat.
There is a program called GUIFormat which will do it, but EXFat is a FAR more efficient file system.
I'd keep the cheapo card, format it as FAT32, and use it for firmware upgrades.
I bought a 256GB card as well. Can't wait to try the player out.
Thanks for the informative video, and Happy New Year!
Happy New Year!! Also, always happy to help and I hope you'll have lots of fun and enjoy it once it arrives!
Doesn't this now have a USB-C port and cable included? That's how it's advertised on Amazon.
I think they made a new revision that has those
Hey man looks pretty good do you think it could be good for listening metal? I use a lot the EQ (for V shape EQ), so I’m looking for a dap with a good EQ I just use IEMS.
Should work well for that too!!
Thanks for the review. I am shopping. Which do you recommend and and why? Considering Hifi Walker2 or Surfans F20. They are same price. Walker2 comes with iem. Thanks again.
Walker , lower background noise, less overall distortion

Hi! Thanks for the nice review. I'm considering buying this and would like to ask about the idle shutdown function.
I sometimes go to sleep while listening to music and would like to set it to turn off for example after 45 minutes, to save the battery.
Does this player turn off after being idle (so that the user hasn't pushed any buttons) in the set time?
It should do that, altough I did not use the function extensively. But it sould work. I think I did it once or twice and was surpised that it worked. But I can't recall if it was playing music and it shut down or if it was idle and shut down (?)
Written Review www.audiophile-heaven.com/2022/02/hifi-walker-h2-music-player-retro-chinese-dap.html
good review thank you . is there a shuffle mode and if so. is it a good algorithm? i have a different MP3 player with about 2,000 songs. but it seems to play the same couple hundred over and gets into a loop
thank you
In my experience, all DAPs will have this issue, unless they make a ghost playlist with no repeats, but from experience all of them repeat songs unless they're android based and the app is well designed, like iBasso's Mango app and Hiby music.
@@AudiophileHeaven thank you
That’s why I switched to alphabetical order on my iPod Nanos. I heard some songs three times before some ever played.
So I bought this after I accidentally broke my Fiio X5 a couple years back, and I've been itching for a new portable DAC for all my downloaded music. I loved my Fiio X5, but I wish it had Bluetooth as well. I got this for the Bluetooth, but didn't realize that I guess it wouldn't work with Airpods?
I also see that when I go to my artists, it just lists all their songs completely. Is there no way to go to an artist, and then view their albums separately, like most, if not all music players? I like the sound of the player, but the playability/enjoyment I get from this doesn't seem on-par with the Fiio X5. Was thinking maybe I'd be better off with an X5 Mark 3? Though I'll probably still be better off sticking with my phone + Spotify until then...
I would recommend considering something like Hiby R4, or iBasso DX260 right now, they are both considerably better options at the moment
I was wondering about this DAP. Perfect replacement for my dying FiiO X1.
Yes, should be perfect for that!!!
@@AudiophileHeaven you should check out the Phinistec DAP for $99. Its a new release and looks interesting.
@@wPJyat thank you, I will try to check it out!!
Great review!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Good info, thank you!
Hi George. Excellent review, you've earned another subscriber. I just finished watching your review with great interest as I'm looking for a decent quality player to replace the RUIZU X02 with HIFIMAN RE-600 V2 earbuds (I know, not high end but suits my purposes). I enjoy listening to tunes while on long motorcycle rides. My concern is I carry the player in the inside upper vest pocket of my riding jacket and am hoping any associated movement or jostling may change the settings, i.e. file being played or volume, etc. Do you think this might pose an issue, or would the 'lock' feature address this?
Hii , and happy to have you here with us! I think it has a lock function too, for while screen is turned off, but you may disjoint its wheel and buttons too after a while, they aren't quite that sturdy
I recently got my HIFI Walker, got all my songs onto the audio device, I have an issue in which the device doesn't detect the lyrics I had in my audio files, has anyone else found a way around this?
I have not found a way to fix this, it may be nable to read certain tags...
Hi how are you doing between this or the surfans f20??
Hii, doing well. I think that this one is more versatile, less noise with high sensitivity IEMS, and similar power, plus slightly more neutral sound
Hi George, great review - just have one question: can you play just one track, and then select another track, and just play that track, or is the gapless playback set as default? I need a DAP to play backing tracks in a live music set, but need to have each track stop at the end. Can you disable the gapless function? thanks
Hiii, in not sure I understand the question. You can always play what tracks you desire. You can disable gapless too. What I think you're asking is if you can queue tracks, which I'm actually not sure
@@AudiophileHeaven Hi, sometimes it's called "play one song" or something like that. I just need a list of tracks, I select one track, it plays and stops at the end of the track, without the next track starting to play. I then scroll thru, select another track, play that track, etc etc. Even if gapless is disabled, does the next track begin in a couple of seconds, after the first one has finished, or not? I appreciate your help, as this is crucial to which dap I buy, and is quite difficult to find out about. thanks
I don't think it has this feature, it starts playing the next song usually. You can always go to settings , play mode and select single play, and it will do just that, so you won't have to worry about it. I can't find H2 in the drawers, but I found Surfans F20 which has this feature precisely, and which has the same firmware and operating system in general.
@@AudiophileHeaven Great -thanks again for your help
May I ask what kind of music do you listen to? I'm just curious :)
I literally listen to everything A to Z, but mostly EDM, Dubstep, Rock, Pop, and all of those with just a bit of orchestral and synths. I do have a playlist on the channel with music that makes a good example of my listening habbits.
how about audio rocking when it's in the pocket? I hear that sucks.
I don't quite understand the question (?), what do you mean by rocking when it is in the pocket? It has the same sound regardless where it is placed
Man, I should have watched this video before I purchased the other DAP called RUIZU. Not happy with that player. Runs with old firmware and I can't update anyway. Great video.
Thank you for your kind words, and I hope your next purchase will go much better!
Here's a question: Walker H2 vs AP80? Purely in terms of sound. What's your considered opinion on this comparison?
Hm... The sound is actually pretty equal. H2 is a tiny bit more forward and more detailed, while AP80 is a bit smoother. I think that both are pretty good, would chose strickyl based on abilities and overall design. H2 can sound a bit better at times.
Wish one of those would play video too. I would love to watch movie with a Dax
I think they made a touch screen versin that can play video. There are some around 200 USD that have video playback ability, but I usually don't test for it because the screen is too small for my me to watch video comfortably on it
Hi George! I need some advice. I have been using Samsung YP-K3 (possibly with a Wolfson chip) for many years now, and like its warm sound signature very much, but its failing now. For my new DAP, should I go for H2 or Surfans F20? Is there any other DAP in this range which would sound closest to my YP-K3?
Thanks!
Hiii, I never heard Samsung YP-K3, so I really don't know for sure, but for a good started DAP in the entry level range, I would go for H2 rather than F20 as it has a slihgtly lower impedance and would work better with in-ears.
I'm also on the fence between the F20 and the H2. But I like how the F20 can play ALAC (apple lossless) as well, makes my workflow a lot easier. But if the H2 is easier to use with large libraries (e.g. scrolling through the alphabet when lists get too long, like old iPods), I'd rather have that.
Would the surfan F20 work well with M&D MH40 headphones? They are about 32 ohms I belive. Looking for an entry level DAP and really like the old school look of the F20.
@@couzcouzify Yes, it should work perfectly together
hi, great video review. So what the difference with surfans F20?
Thanks for reply :)
E.
Hii, they are really similar, would pick the one that looks better. I think that H2 is better in general, F20 is a bit stronger but has a bit more background noise
@@AudiophileHeaven thanks for reply, very appreciate. Have a nice day :)
Really the only thing I would want to see in something like this is a balanced output
There are a few mini DAPs like this, but with a 4.4mm balanced output!
@@AudiophileHeaven Thanks for the reply! Would you be able to make any recommendations?
Shanling M0 PRO comes with a 3.5mm balanced port that comes with a 4.4mm adapter. Also, Hiby RS2 Darwin, which is rather small, but a bit pricy.
Have you (or anyone) been able to load a playlist onto this player? I download about two dozen podcasts on Sundays to listen to at work all week. I like them in a specific order, but cannot seem to make it work with this device. Past devices, I simply created the playlist in Windows Media Player, and synced it to the device. Nothing I have tried has worked yet...
I do not think that sync with windows media player would work, you'll probably need something like an m3u playlist mnade with foobar, I am not sure as I do not work with playlists...
You could, at the very least
Use Bulk Rename Utility,
Make a copy folder of your files
Rename files, so that you add numbering to the files
Use folder browsing while playing them, and you will have them in order.
@@AudiophileHeaven I think I figured it out, and it was so simple.
Create and name a folder
Drag and drop files in desired order
Sort folder by date created
Drag and drop the folder to the HIFI Walker
Files in the folder remain in chronological order on the device
Pseudo playlist!
Yes, this is what I consider more convenient than making a playlist, I trust my own physical file ordering more
@@kennethhills2 thank you! I’ve been thinking about getting this and looking at reviews hoping someone would give a clear answer on how to create playlists as that’s my prefer method. Are you still using yours and would you still recommend?
@@Miamis4me305 I did return mine, but I think I discovered a way to do it since, and do it this way on my phone... Create a folder on the device, drag your files to it in order, select the folder on the device, and they should be in that order. It works on my phone with the Musicolet app, and it works on the Mechen player that I did keep (it's much like the Walker device)...
my jabra headphones say I need to download the free Jabra Sound + aPP to the player. I don't see how to do this. Can you help me?
Hiii, I don't think that would be possible...
Between this one and the surfans F20, which is best for using with bluetooth earphones?
Both are very similar, but I would use my smartphone, it has better LDAC support and just runs smoother if I'm using bluetooth headphones / IEMs...
Interesting, I DIDN'T get headphones with mine, and I CAN'T connect my Bluetooth earbuds to mine. Very disappointing
Woah, that sounds like quite a bit of a problem, you should try to get in touch with HIFI Walker, or return if you purchased from Amazon
Hi, thank you for this review. This is everything i need I'm definitely getting one.I am also planning on getting one of the HD 560s or HD 6XX, Can you tell me if this unit can properly drive them or if you have better suggestions.Thank you very much.
Hii there, Overall, this one is quite strong, and should be a good match for most headphones, but for 6XX and 560 I might recommend something with a bit more power, and likely a balanced cable too, like iFi Go Bar, iBasso DC04PRO, iBAsso DX160, and TempoTec V6. For the super affordable range, H2 is one of the strongest available that I tested, so if you can't spend more it should be super ok
Hi Mr. Balki Bartokomous. I wondered what happened to you.
Seems he changed his career from movies to revies, innit
How can you compare this to the Surfans F20?
I tried my best to do this in the written reviews on www.audiophile-heaven.com . They are really similar, pick the one you like better for its looks and design, H2 works a bit better for IEMs, F20 is a bit better for headphones
Can you please tell me if I can transfer my iTunes music to this player?
Hi, yes, as long as you have those sorted in files. Otherwise, there are programs that can help you do this, but I am not expert with iTunes so I am not fully sure how to do it besides copying the files
Great video How would I add album covers
Usually, either you use MP3 Tag to tag the .jpeg or .jpg file to the file, or you leave a .jpg file in the folder of the album, and it should show in the DAP, as long as the file is named cover.jpg.
if you compare it to a fiio x1 2nd gen is it better?
I think it sounds better than FiiO X1 2nd gen, it is more dynamic and more detailed. Not necessarily more useful or practical, but sound should be better
hifi walker h2 or surfans f20?
Hifi Walker right now , it is a bit cheaper too
Hi how compare with shanling m2x soundwise? thanks
Hiii, it is more neutral, more detailed, than m2x , m2x is warmer and darker

Lotoo Paw 2 I think has really good recorder ability.
For recording audio, I would purchase a separate device with a dedicated microphone, otherwise use a smartphone with a lavalier mic, or a Rode Wireless Lav Mic, it would sound better.
How can I connect this HIFI WALKER H2 Hi-Res to a bluetooth device?
Hi, I don't think you can do that...
@@AudiophileHeaven hello! Thanks for the review. The current version does work with Bluetooth, I think you have to do it in settings, according to what others have said. I will be able to say for sure once I receive mine in several days.

@@shane5809 that's correct, but that's the kind of feature all dapd have with the screen turned off, I assumed the querstion was whether it had any way of having a slider to do the lock thigy
the side is metal, the front and back are plastic painted black
Hm... My unit seems to be metal fully, maybe they changed it at some point (?)
The new version is pretty terrible. I returned mine once for a new unit to make sure its not a flaw.
1: It can no longer be connected ot a PC. Doesnt work period. No user error.
2: The included micro SD card is terrible and uses fake GB. Its a 8GB unit, not a 64GB as they claim
3: The line out buzzes a lot
4: The selection button / start / stop is badly made and sits crooked
5: The selection wheel is extremely sticky and hard to move
6: It can only be charged from a basic USB charger. PD and QC chargers (aka all modern ports) will not charge this device
7: It DOES NOT READ FLAC FILES. ONLY MP3!
8: It doesnt have a DAC Mode. The manual even says that it was removed and no longer supported
9: Mine dont even have Bluetooth as an option.
10: It seems like Hifi Walker is a dead brand now. I have been trying to get in contact for 3 weeks. No response.
I am really sorry to hear you had such issues. I can confirm 100% that this is not how my unit works like and how it should work like, maybe someone made a knock off from the original.
@@AudiophileHeaven Good hint. Im going to contact amazon about this again and have them check if this is even an original unit.

It’s not the buds or the songs that were the problem bc I did different tests. When plug into a headphone jack, the sounds were fine. The Bluetooth are working fine when connected to other devices.
I don't get it. Why would a get one when I have a cellphone?
Well it sounds better, has more punch and power. Plus most phones come without a headphone jack. Also, i think it is made for those who miss the days of mp3 players. Even tho I got streaming and all the new stuff, I still mostly listen music via one music player. Tho currently it is a DX320 from ibasso

The worse DAP ever..! Gain sucks! Accessing the Ewually sucks! File management completely backward!! Cant wait to get rid of it..
Oh .. I forgot! massive RF interference ..
The most annoying
It sounds like you got a deffective unit, better return and replace, there are many other options out there, like Hiby R2, R3 PRO, or ACME MF-01
@@AudiophileHeaven Thanks, Im in the process of picking another one
Did you try adjusting gain in the settings
@@nagomizik9358 I read the player ships with gain on low
You're using Bluetooth headphones? Because the one I have sounds amazing with wired headphones but like balls with Bluetooth seeing as Bluetooth headphones use their own audio hardware. I also get interference. If your using Bluetooth stick with your phone.
