#1 no-no in the towing industry, NEVER PULL FROM THE D.O.T BUMPER. Always pull from the frame rails.
Yes, Please go to tow truck school. You didn't use chains when you hooked to the trailer. Never ever hook straight to what you are lifting without a chain, a lift strap, or a lift point already built into what you are lifting and moving.
True words
He can do it how he wants it's his stuff.mind your business.
Jerry wil-suc-cox
@JohnLaws-sg8yh jokes on cupcake hahaha
Just because you can do something, Doesn’t mean you should! Safe operation should be the first concern.
"stand behind me Brax, incase one of those cables break"' Like that cable will not cut through two people !!
It's not hating when someone offers constructive criticism or points out an unsafe procedure and a safer way to do it. Don't let your ego stop your willingness to learn or correct a bad habit.
Definitely need to go to tow school. Seeing what did to them winch cables bout broke my heart. Them mugs ain’t cheap.
Tim something I heard Ron Pratt say is you shouldn’t put bare cable on the trailer like that you should use chains or straps for those areas or chance damage to the cable!!!
Ron Pratt enjoys a 🌭
Focus, focus, focus........amazing how fast that shop and yard fell into chaos and despair. Your insurance provider is a brave company.
Just seems like too many irons-in-the-fire & getting spread too thin ! JMHO
Haters
I see a lot of comments about going to towing school. Probably a great idea that’ll pay in the long run.
It’s amazing what an operator can pick up from those courses or any extra courses for their trade.
You’ll get it dialed in. Gentry is busy. 💵💵💵
You need to get some guidance using that wrecker, those things will hurt you bad or worse if not done properly.
Timmy when lifting with them wrecker always be aware of the arc nemesis over head !
I see bruce is coming for you with a bigger tow truck
That boom needs to be at 45deg or more to avoid bending it
That's what happens when you go to semi casual and see how clean and tidy their workshops were 😂
Semi casual had a workshops show? I must have missed the video.
2 different shop work they do paint a body so ya it needs to be clean.tims isn't a body shop so it doesn't matter.
@@jerrywilcox9890 well put
@jerrywilcox9890 Dude of Timmy scratches his ass, he's gonna claw your eyeballs out!!
@@JohnLaws-sg8yh whats your problem?
Gather all the injectors and send them off too be serviced and made like new and keep them for possible future issues.
Some of y’all have sooo much advice to give and life probably in shambles😂
Great opportunity to fill people in on the fire and insurance that you promised
Never in my trucking life have I’ve seen a driver run the RPMs to 2400 before shifting
My dad would pop me everytime I got truck over 1700 period but I'd shift around 1400 till I got up in higher gears then he would let me get up to around 1600 but once you put a couple thousand miles on a truck you learn the happy stop for each gear
Need some cable rope protection on the edges were cables are getting pulled against,100% of the time, your going to kink the cable, lol thanks BigAl California.
Never should have been hooked that way to start with.. Tim has a lot to learn about towing and recovery, especially talking about a rotator..
Don’t you know Timmy is a cattle hauler, wrecker driver car hauler race car driver best mechanic around but will criticize you over the smallest thing. Oh and boat hauler he’s the best 😂😂😂
😅
😂😂😂😂
Always winch your load up in the air don’t use the boom to lift your load and your boom is weakest fully extended at a 90* angle you should be atleast at a 45* angle to lift anything……. It would save you a lot of headaches and money in the long run to go take a heavy recovery class I towed for 6 years and thought I knew everything there was to know and went and took a course and let me tell you I learned so much ! No Hate at all absolutely love the content and have been watching since the start just want you to be prepared for any situation so you can make it home to your wife and kids it only takes 1 tiny mistake and it could cost you a life or piece of equipment! Keep up the hard work and great videos!
Agree....class recommended !
Always reminds me of my grandmothers story on how lucky us kids were to ride a bus to school. My grandmother claims she had to walk miles to go to school.
I learned that from watching Ron Pratt
Straps at a 45 degree angle loos 50% of it's strength, you shouldn't ever go over 45 edit my buddy has a custom built tow truck with a similar boom, it has a lifetime warranty, he was told if he breaks it he will fix it for free, but yes sir, that was stupid and could have broken the boom, so a 10" boom becomes 15" at a 45 degree angle it gains ten times to strength, Tim got lucky on that boner he pulled
@@DavidCinelli7815 up hills both ways
Hi Tim I hope you do get a rotator wrecker and also going to wrecker school would be a great Idea you can learn a lot on rigging and updated tricks on making recovery safer and easier
Use the underlift to support the boom when it is fully extended.
I wish I had that fuel tank in the Chevy truck that drive was a lot of fuel stops!!
U need to go to Canada let jamiedavis show u the ropes of towing and how to be safe about towing
Haha pull em till you find the lever you want to move 😂😂 welcome to the operating world.
You criticizing other drivers?? The guy with a loose dog and phone is his hand? Safety third at best.
I wish this guy would just invest in some GoPros… set them up like Steve at FSC Trucking. Put the phone down when you’re driving Tim… and set up a GoPro on the dash or get a head mount. It really would make your content so much better.
and... NO seatbelts !
@@maxx21147 tbh I don’t really hold that against anyone, so many CDL Drivers just dont wear them, I my self am guilty of it from time to time 🤷🏻 We can never be perfect, but the act of at least trying to do better is what builds better character overall.

1,000lt IBC totes with the top cut out are good for storage timmy
Tim , something that would come in handy every 2 or 3 years or so is a dolly. You can hook it to king pln and drag it around, might have to caige the brakes. Just a thought, keep moving forward.
Your old shop yard must be in a very good place , I'm surprised that no one has pillaged the precious metals...Very nice area I guess👍👌😊
I was thinking the same thing, everything wide open, and still there, wouldn’t happen in my area
Maybe if you have another fire you can get a rotator
That's funny, looks like he came out okay from that deal, I have not heard anything but gentry is still in full operations
Ya'll sound dmb 😂 but make sure to hit the 👍
Funny since he didn't get no money from the last fire so another fire wouldn't do anything to get a rotator.
@cargotoolshop5319 they didn't get no money from the fire.they didn't have the right insurance.
@@jerrywilcox9890 are you 100% sure or just going by his word?
I think the first thing Tim should have done is mark the levers, even if it was temporary. Just my observation.
Great way to ruin/knick your wreckers cables.
El taller hay que limpiar más a menudo.
Need to greese that boom. There's pads under it that need to be changed every few Years. Looks dry. Beautiful truck tho. Congratulations. Ps try to never extend the boom all the way
Just do what we did with trucks blocking a bay. Take your forklift, lift the back of the truck, pull it outside and park it until you have the parts.
That makes too much sense......
Have you ever seen one of the cables snap would keep Braxton away seen cable cut legs off operator
I've seen the damage done to the rear of the truck area when a new grade 100 chain breaks under a pull and the hook and cable hits it. 7,000 dollars in the blink of an eye..
Tim
For the sake of safety...get some tow training for whomever is going to operate the tow truck....somebody's going to get hurt or cause damage.😮😮
A rotator is going to bite you
Definitely needs cleaning, looks like hell.neighbors will be happy
Sanford and son
Gold mine in parts score✝️✝️✝️👍👍👍🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
A local guy here got drive van trailers pulled rear suspension set flat on ground rent out as storage units cheap way get started
As busy as that road is I'm surprised you don't get things swiped from there with those open trailers and such. I had a couple pickups parked behind a buddy's barn and someone stole the hood off one and a broken trans that was in the bed of the truck.
Hi Tim Gentry and Sons and family
You tell Braxton I love my sweatshirt
Make a list, put it on the computer for parts list. You should be good. It will take a while but really worth it in the end. I did this same thing at my job before. Bean counting..keep up the great work buddy 👍
Loving everything your posting.
Why didn’t you just pull trailer straight back and then hook tractor up and drive away?
You should have snatch blocks n chain coming from under the trailer to ur cable and u should pull r winches out n rewrap then spray chain lube
What a mess u keep
You need to get some of that stuff to the scrap yard and get some money for it so you can keep some money around
Tim you could set a section on racking in the middle too for work table and important part storage.. All u need to do is cut 2 by 6 in the racking where the mash is and u got urself a table
Turning down tow calls is good way to lose business
There's always business in towing.so it's not going to hurt a thing.
@jerrywilcox9890 will if you continue to pass the work to someone else and those folks quit calling you
@jaygraham5407 they will still call lol.trucking there are always trucks to be towed.and not enough trucks to tow.as long as he has that truck his adds still up he will always get calls.
@@jaygraham5407 it doesn't matter how many he turns down.
One more thing from my other comment- HOW COME YOU DONT THROTTLE UP your truck when your using ur boom and winches - I had a rotator for 10 years- if your getting a new one your going to regret it - my truck payment was $33 grand a month
it’s crazy the wrecker is for sale on Facebook marketplace
A lot of mini storage companies just use 10 and 20 foot shipping containers. Cheap, waterproof, vermicelli proof and you can add to it easily. Just walk a good fence around it with heaps of security cameras, and your in business for not a lot of money.
Lol be cheaper to build a building than buy them.
Them are not cheap so where you get for not alot of money is beyond me.
@@jerrywilcox9890 you can pick single use 20 ft containers for $3000. That’s a cheap way to start off. You buy what you can afford then buy more when required. Cheaper than a building and no building approvals required. That’s cheap.
@@jerrywilcox9890what 8’x40’ building you gonna build for 3000$? A big plastic shed from Home Depot cost that much.wrong again.
Hey Tim just a reminder, Set the idling up when u use the boom. U may have had it on, it was hard to tell on the video.
If you not planning on replacing your wrecker cables, you might want to oil them a bit.
Tim, I don’t know if you watch dirt perfect but I feel you would enjoy it.
Best way to keep that from washing out. After you know, if you grated up, get crushed hot top after they crush it and you put it down, spread ithen you put Kelsey, I'm on it and put water to it. And it will harden right back up like hot top
A truck driver trying to be a wrecker operator. Almost like a cab driver wanting to be a truck driver.
Or maybe he's just a man that's not scared to try different things to make money
@Drew379 I heard brain surgery pays pretty good
didn't you see where he was a wrecker driver for a few years?
@@carlbenj1668HUGE difference between tow truck driver and tow truck operator.
@kenworthless5708 make sure to hit the 👍
On little bit of advice, when using your boom to lift, get the weight to the ground through your outriggers, and not through your suspension, if a cable does break, you don’t want your suspension to store extra energy.
Tim, calm down with all the ad's bro! More ad's on this channel than any channel I've ever seen! Love ya man but DAMN!
A yard truck would of came in handy on this ordeal
A Self storage building is one of the best return on investment business out there, normally short time to gain back initial investment, then cash cow afterwards
Public storage places are popping up everywhere here in central Florida hhmm now that I think about it they are real close to every couple subdivision lol
Should make a 5th wheel attachment for your skid steer to help move trailers since the skid steer can turn a maneuver in tight areas for jobs like this to help out when tow truck might not be available. To help the trailer move over an inch out of spots.
You need to oil them cables
Sea containers are great for storage
Great for storage but not really great for renting out on a property atleast around here they don't. Self storage buildings are the way to go easy low maintaince money. Still fairly cheap to build
Tim I know you like the newer Macs but there’s the awesome look and sound of 379 PETE WITH A CAT.
Tim your boom has greatest strength at 45 deg
Tim, you could put up a pole building to use for storage for your shop. All the parts you accumulate could have storage out of the weather. Park your toys there too.
The only i would do different is wrap a chain around whatever your pulling on and hook to that. Just to protect your cable
Don’t tell him what to do, you hater.
Tim break some of them racks down and put down one side of trailer or can easily make a shelf to your liking 2x6 and plywood
RIP that landing gear
U suppose to use the wheel lift up under the boom of the wrecker for strength so u don't bend the boom k just telling ya
I see that dry van has that meritor suspension 😉😃
Love those car out blinker fluid lol 😂
Drive me crazy when I see someone with a dog or cat on there lap driving
I drive truck and I have a little puppy in the truck, she's on the floor or passenger seat, in at least nine states it is illegal to have a dog on your lap

make yourself a Dolly with one of those frame cutoffs with a Axle and a fifth wheel plate to put under Trailers to move them around without damaging the Dollies..
I know you were just testing it out and playing but snatch blocks make all the difference.

Are y'al gonna paint Westen's frame to match new paint on the sleeper. Someone posted a short of it being sanded down again if you're subscribed to his new UA-cam channel
Use the winch, with its mechanical advantage, to lift the load. Do not use the boom to lift. You are over taxing your hydraulic system. There should be a load placard on that vehicle outlining the boom position with its load capacity.
What sup Tim hope everyone is well
