    Ordered and installed one on my P1s on a bit of a whim. It's clean, simple and does what it says on the box. True, it doesn't add much in the way of physical functionality to the printer itself, but then neither does the X1C's colour touch screen, and this a much cheaper upgrade.
    What it does do is provide useful info at a glance when walking past the printer. I can see the nozzle and bed temps, what layer I'm on out of how many, what percentage complete the job is and an ETA for finishing. This is all stuff the default "screen" is useless for, and it saves me opening the app on my phone or checking my computer.
    It's a "Quality of Life" improvement, and one that elevates the experience of using the machine just that little bit. Coming from Resin printers where this kind of info display has been standard for years, it's a nice bit of added polish, and one that integrates almost seamlessly.
    Is it needed? Of course not. But that's what makes it so great. Those who don't want it didn't have to pay extra to get it. Those who do want it, get it for a great price.

      @TapticDigital yeah, I mean kinda sucks if you wanna take it with you to a different room but for me I got it because the other screen is so tiny and sometimes I have problems with seeing it, I also just ordered me the a1 mini because why not lol

    I mean for $50 you can’t really go wrong. You can control up to 10 connected Bambu printers after setting up a “Master printer”. I think it’s great as a touch screen option for the people who don’t want the 2001 stock control center. Appreciate the review 🫡

    Curious about your camera setup. How’d you get the exposure set to clearly show the bright screen without drowning out the background?

    • @TapticDigital
      @TapticDigital  2 місяці тому +1

      @@engineer3dprints I use a Nikon Z6 for the camera along with three or four Neweer LED panels. Shutter is always 1/60th, aperture as wide as it’ll go (I think f4 for most of this video), and then just adjusting ISO till it looks bright enough. I’ll usually angle one LED panel to light up the background, not directly but lighting the wall near it so that light bounces a bit and it isn’t as harsh or direct. I use RaLeno or Neweer brand LED panels because they aren’t too expensive, and they get the job done.

    • @TapticDigital
      @TapticDigital  5 місяців тому +3

      @@Shenandoahleather it’s a toss up, frankly I’d prefer Bambu have patents over Stratysis. Bambu at least listens to their community, offers open source options (X1C), and isn’t going on frivolous cease and desist rampages like Stratysis. As a business all Stratysis does is sell somewhat decent, oversized, and 40000% marked up printers and accessories, while launching lawyers at other companies that benefit the community. Bambu is by far the lesser of two evils, and if they suddenly stopped supporting their products, at least I’m only out about $1000 compared to Stratysis disabling a $40,000 machine because you didn’t subscribe to something or another.
