Brighton: Great vid. Thank you. It inspired me to use public transit in my stay in Cabo and La Paz (May 2024). RUTA bus from the front of new Walmart in Cabo to San Jose del Cabo was easy at 40 pesos and the driver makes change. Got off a little early so taxied from LaComer to the Mission and art district. Took Aguila (Eagle) bus from Cabo to La Paz for last week of stay. When you look at their website, make sure to check the length of time for the route. Ranged from 2.5 hours to over 4 hours. $352 Mex or $22 USD. Very nice station in Cabo but its outside the Marina area. The station in La Paz was not very clean and banos were coin operated. Most just used handicap for free. BTW, I found Uber very responsive and relatively inexpensive. And always take TP with you!!
Glad that all worked out for you. Correct - the bus station in Cabo San Lucas is not in a convenient location for tourists. The La Paz bus station is in an ideal spot! And you end with a great reminder - always take TP!!!
Ahhhh the adventures of Mr B. continue. As a guy that finally caught Covid (3 wks ago) I might mask up more. But that's me. I didn't care for the 103.1 temp. But your videos kept me entertained. Thanks man...👏🎬👍👍
Thanks Brighton. I like learning about the bus systems in Mexico. Once I move to Mexico I plan to travel within the country so will probably be on a lot of buses. Wish we had a better bus system here in the US. 🚌🚍. ☮️❤️😎
Very helpful! I'm well into my 70s. and I made up my mind a long time ago that it's better to give up my driver's license too soon rather than too late. So, everywhere I go, I check out what the buses are like in advance.
Good move! Also check out this video. I haven’t used Bla Bla Car in Baja California Sur, but I have on the mainland. The BEST Way To Get Around Mexico! ua-cam.com/video/ll6WcKzumcI/v-deo.html
This is such a timely video for us! We just booked airfare into SJD for 10 days over Christmas but we don't land until 4:30 pm so renting a car and driving would be after dark. I went on the Aguila website and found a 6:00pm bus to La Paz that gets in a little after 9pm. It was interesting looking at the schedule because I noticed some trip were 3:10 and some were 4 hours. I'm hoping the 3:10 trips take the toll roads and avoid going through CSL. Fingers crossed our condo will be ready! 🚌😃
Great! Definitely a good idea to let the pros drive at night! Make a plan for getting from the airport to the Aguila terminal because that's a tight connection. No margaritas at the airport for you! The 4 hour trips are probably through Los Barriles on the east coast and the 3:10 are probably through Todos Santos on the west coast.
The bus system in Mexico is incredible, especially the Executive Class buses. When you're finally able to visit Querétaro I'm hoping you'll be able to take a day trip on one of the buses or via Uber to Bernal. There are some small boutique hotels in Bernal, just in case You and Kat would like to stay overnight.
Thanks Amy! I've booked my ticket to Querétaro in November. Unfortunately, I'll be short on time, and headed to San Miguel de Allende after QRO. Are you in Querétaro? I need to line up some interviews with expats. And I'll be on my own on this trip. Kat will still be in the US.
@@AlmostRetiredinMexico, I actually live in the high desert of southern California and was hoping to visit Mazatlan this November, in order to check the different areas out in the city for semi-retirement over the next couple years. Unfortunately, I just had to cancel the trip due to unforeseen circumstances. I'm sorry you won't be able to make at least a day trip to Bernal when in Queretaro, it's such a cool little Pueblo Magico (maybe a 45 minute drive/Uber ride from Santiago De Querétaro). The bus ride from Santiago De Querétaro to Bernal takes a bit longer but it can still be done as a day trip, just in case you're able to squeeze it in.
Pricing update: The shuttles on EcoBajaTours is now over $41 USD for one-way. The Aquila buses range in price, depending on the time of day, from 200 MXN to 425 MXN. Update on time it takes to get to / from the airport is 3 to 4 hours.
Good evening, Brighton! Thank you very much for sharing these bus experiences with us! I have a fantasy of not needing a car, once we get to Mexico. However, we also have a dog that we like to bring with us on our travels. So, we'll probably just bring our car once we start coming to Mexico. I guess that could all change if we are able to establish a connection with some sort of dog car (like, if we went to visit another town for the weekend). Safe travels!
Correct. Eco Baja bus goes directly to the airport and Aguila goes to San Jose del Cabo bus station downtown. Aguila also stops in Cabo San Lucas and other spots along the way.
Have you tried ABC? I went on their site but it does not tell me where the pick up spot is in cabo. Im trying to go cabo to la paz. Thanks for the advice in advance.
Ah, but your wife can live extravagantly if you move to Mexico. You can be cheap and extravagant at the same time! You could even buy her a horse! ua-cam.com/video/BVSngkFcrzs/v-deo.html
Hi B, I really enjoy your content. We are going to Cabo San Lucas in December. Is there a bus terminal that takes me from downtown Cabo to Todos Santo and is possible to do a day trip?
The bus terminal is probably a $5 Uber ride from downtown CSL. You could definitely catch a bus from Cabo San Lucas to Todos Santos and return the same day. The bus station in Todos Santos is a block off the main street. So on a nice bus like the one in this video it will be about $25USD per person round trip. Or you could take a tour there for $125USD per person and get picked up at your hotel.
Hi B, Just wondering where does the aguila bus stop in san jose del cabo when you were coming from la paz? and is it safe to purchase the bus tix in la pas the same day that you are leaving. Thanks
How do you recommend getting from la paz to Cabo airport with a small pet. We usually rent a one way MEX car but expensive. I don’t think ecobaja shuttle allows dogs.
I recommend posting to the Facebook Group Loco La Paz Expats. A private ride typically costs about $120. Explain your situation in the FB group and someone will step forward and offer to drive you for a fee - even with a pet.
Hi i am trying to get from cabo san lucas to la paz and the beaches. I would like to find some one to drive us around. I would like to have Brighton to help us find some one to drive us around.

This video was shot when the government in Mexico was requiring them to slow the spread of COVID. Mexicans tend to live closer together in multigenerational households with a more stressed public hospital system, and also low wages (so people can't afford to get sick.) So most Mexicans will do anything to try to stay healthy - and they are also less likely to be "conspiracy theorists." FYI, in La Paz right now, there is still a mask mandate in enclosed spaces.
