A brilliant patch I'd love to be able to listen to a longer version of! I always learn something from these vids, thank you for making them. I have a better understanding of Focus now, and a cool use case for keeping Morphagene and Spectraphon paired up in racks.
Great patch! - I especially enjoyed the mis-patching of press point and the tension it created, only resolve later in the video. I'm glad you kept that detail in.
I'd really like to see more glitchy/weird patches. Perhaps some "broken" use of the Rene, while Tempi gently slaps some parameters, and the Wogglebug's (Make Noise's most neglected child) noisy audio outputs being processed by the Spectraphone, etc. Give us the weird stuff, make some noise! Or, give Sarah Belle Reid a system and she'll deliver!
Someone on Reddit was debating buying Spectraphon a few days ago, and lamented that everything they had heard just sounded like a vocoder. They clearly hadn't been listening to the videos on this channel.
@@MAKEN0ISEMUSIC I did. I specifically linked them to the Mallet Palette, Panic Girl, and James Cigler videos. I frequently listen to all of them on my headphones when I'm out walking. If you have an extended audio of Mallet Palette... Just sayin...
@@MAKEN0ISEMUSIC Cheers! I love the hell out of that one in particular. I've been a fan of Steve Reich's "Music for a Large Ensemble" album for about 35-36 years now. The percussion in the Mallet Palette video was like a straight shot of Reich. You might also like this track, on of my old favorites that I threw in during the weird hours of my old dj sets, when the psychedelics were taking over the dancefloor. ua-cam.com/video/d4a31YojKKw/v-deo.html When you hear it, you'll understand how I'm connecting them.
Nice patchings! Ahhh This duet between Morpha's Slide and Spectraphon's SAM "Focus" launch me into a fantastic dreamland, my multi-dimensional René unicorn (taking a break from playing forbidden (at times forboden?)games with that old wise woman, Strega) galloping along over an undulation of spectral hills and Q-Pas valleys. My emotions follow the control voltage,...and then those voltages turn to follow them instead. Indeed, what is smoothness or troublesome or chaos or intention...what even is attenuation or inversion anymore in a 4-zones of endless Potential. René the good-luck dragon(fly) w iridescent wings, powered by a crystalline Tempi heart, will fly you anywhere both you take your selves.
Here's a relevant quote from the manual: "The Focus control sets the size of the ranges of harmonics that will be activated by the Spectraphon. At low values, smaller ranges of frequencies will be heard and the individual harmonics will tend to be more pronounced and change in amplitude more quickly as the input sound changes or Slide is modulated. At higher values, more harmonics will be heard and they will tend to “ring” longer after changes in the sound source or in modulation to Slide. At the highest values, many harmonics are heard and they will have a noticeably sluggish response to change, creating droning effects and even something like “echo” at times." In this video you could hear the effect of temporarily changing the Focus parameter from higher to lower while the input is fed with rhythmic material: that rhythm temporarily receives more emphasis at the output.
Wonderful patch. It also shows how cool Rene is for live improvisation.
One of René's strengths!

Spectraphon is such an amazing module. It yields immediate results when you start exploring it, and it just keeps getting deeper as you work with it.
One of my all time favorite synth patching videos. I could just listen to this all day.

Glad to hear that you got something out of it!
This is fantastic! I especially like it with the glide and a lot of resonance!

Thanks! I think it's important to show mistakes too. Sometimes they just show the reality (like this time), but other times they lead places.
This is the coolest video I’ve seen on the channel so far, thanks for the wonderful patch. Makes me interested in trying it maybe with what I got
these sounds are reaching into the deepest part of my being
Beautiful patch
Thanks!
cest vraiment un des plus beaux patch que j'ai entendu ces derniers temps. Magnifique Walker you'r the best !
Thank you so much!
This is probably my favorite video in the Spectraphon series. I should probably go back and rewatch the others just to be sure.
Wow that's a great patch! Sounds heavenly beautiful!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Well done. With enough mults and modulators, monuments to spectral smear can be made.
Truth!

Awesome patch!

Cool! 😃
What exactly is the focus control doing? How do you mainly use it in your patches?
