Man the reboot trilogy's naming convention is really odd.
(Anyway, expect Ant-Man, Wasp, Ghost, Han Solo, Lando or Venom in the next few days. Also, I have My Hero Academia Season 3, FLCL Alternative, Dragon Prince, Constantine: City of Demons and Incredibles 1 & 2 and more in the next few weeks as well)

@Carystus Gaming No, I think "shadow" comes from the fact that the story focuses on how the shadows of her past become a burden to her until she releases herself from them. Which is why the ending is set in a room full of light.
@@astrius4125 Yes, at least that's how I underestand the story: She grew under the shadow that covered his family legacy, she was under the shadow of his father's apparent madness and suicide, the death of her mother, the obligation to carry a family name and also her personal resentments toward his father since she felt abandonated by him. As the mayan myth, were the sun dies when covered by the shadow and reemerges with a sacrifice and death to reborn again. Lara has the opportunity to get what she wants more: her parent's back, but instead, she chooses to sacrifice that version of herself, and reborn as a new persona, free from the shadows form her past. At leats I how I get the story arc.
Keeley Hawes's Lara has the maturity, sophistication, elegant sass and playfulness that's hard to surpass.

Judith Gibbins and Keeley Hawes are by far my favorite.They carried out such a fitting personality and temper for Lara.

Jonell Elliott was my favorite next to Keeley, they had edge to them with a perfect hint of sarcasm.
I think Judith owns it. She has a mature, intelligent voice with a confidence and slight sarcasm.

I love how distinct Judith’s voice is too. You don’t hear a voice like that too often.
As much as I love the early voice actresses, Keeley Hawes did the best version of Lara by far imo. She's a brilliant actress.
Judith Gibbons and Keeley Hawes portrayed Lara Croft to perfection. Sarcastic, Sassy and classy as hell.

Judith Gibbins is by far the best. She nailed the classic, posh English accent for Lara. Sarcastic, witty but elegant.
I prefer Camilla Luddington, as she has a more realistic southern English accent for someone her age.
Seems to be a generational thing, but for me Bond set the template; Gibbons perfected it; Jonell was fine but made Lara edgier and less fun/posh, petulant; Keeley brought back some class; Camilla's VA was either exposition spouting or sounding like she was groaning/sighing all the time. I got sick of listening to her. (Hear the inflection in the clip above, it's all off in the wrong places).

Angelina surprisingly did a great job at paying homage to the older voice actors.
Camilla was good as a younger, more reckless version of Croft.
Keeley and Judith did the best at playing the more experienced and mature version of Lady Croft.

Can someone tell me what the problem with the 2018 movie is?
Alicia I feel embodied the old with the new. She had moments that reminded me of classic sassy Lara but also had moments of the newer Lara.
@@lol-ot4pn My opinion: everything feels cheap for a 2018 movie about one of the most iconic video game characters. And everything Lara (Alicia and her doubles) did with the weapons and stunts just didn't look convincing.
@@heckyeah8292 Alicia did all the stunts her self. Everything. The only problem I have with the movie is that they took out the mythology aspect which made no sense. I love Alicia devotion she had for her role.

Judith Gibbins and Keeley Hawes did a great job at a mature and confident Lara. You can believe she's an experience adventurer who is incredibly intelligent from their performances. I don't think they could have achieved what Camilla Luddington did with a young Lara finding her place in the world and her will to be a survivor, she just has a naive curiosity about her that grows up with each game.
I don't think Minnie Driver would be too bad for a grown up and experienced Lara either. She sounds like the most natural progression from Camilla's performance. It's all kind of amazing looking back how many performances of the character there have been and how long the franchise has been going. Remember playing the demo of the first game and being blown away by the exploration and combat, looking at that game now it's very short and simple compared to recent instalments.

Keeley Hawes really did bring something special to the character; maturity, class, that sassiness from early games as well as being able to be angry and aggressive when needed. Shelley I think will always be a favourite for fans because she was first, Judith as well for being instantly recognisable as Lara. Jonnell made Lara more sexier tbh but I’m not surprised with the way the character was portrayed around that time. Angelina was just a perfect live action Lara and had the softness of Shelley but the sternness of Judith. I always remember Minnie Driver sounding right for the part because she reminded me of Keeley; typical British without trying too hard. Alicia I think played the part ok but didn’t sound right in my own opinion. And in all honesty Camilla doesn’t sound right for Lara at all. Not exactly her fault as I blame the writing. No person normally talks the way her version of Lara does and her dialogue is always so breathy. Even the amount of swearing they have her version of Lara use isn’t necessary. We’ve never heard Lara swear before now because she doesn’t need to to express herself (apart from Keeley saying damn it, even how Angelina says bugger a lot is very British) Not to mention she did grow up in America so hints of an American accent keep slipping in which doesn’t help when the character is suppose to be a born and bread British heiress.
When it comes to characterization of Lara Croft as a mature woman, the voice of Judith Gibbins is the best, and second is Jonell Elliott because both of them have strong English accent.

Shelley Blond, Shelley Blond, Shelley Blond! The first and only Tomb Raider for me. Young, sexy, and a bit of a smart ass. Really, they should go back to her because her voice has matured somewhat since then and it would be interesting to hear the continuity.
It best reflects the character of Lara - Jonell Elliott - because in her voice mixed the aristocratic origin and the adventurous spirit. Yes, all actresses are English, but some do not sound adequate for the role.

Camilla fit the younger Lara aspect, Keeley fit Lara's characterization better, and it's more aesthetically pleasing with the accent of Jonell and Judith
Personally it's a go for Keeley, she embodies Lara's pure sass and intellect with power KSKSKSMFNV

Keeley voice was calm, inteligent and sometimes a bit sassy. And man, when Lara is angry is ANGRY, her voice is a chef kiss.
Judith voice was very sassy and sarcastic, classic Lara Croft. I didn't grow up with her, but if they give her a chance to come back? Hell yeah.
Jonell Elliott, I have to be honest, I didn't like her until I played the game. if Judith was badass she is in a whole new level. Every word she says, the tone... perfect Lara Croft.

And please, for the love of god, now that the reboot trilogy is gone I hope they seek a new (or old) voice for Lara. Camilla was nice but I personally would prefer something more like the old voice actors.
Camilla was fantastic for the role she was given, which is a younger Lara. She is an amazing voice actress and actress in general. Although I understand with the previous voice actors being older that it was a big change, she was most certainly more than “ok”.

I just... Don't care at all of her above all Lara's voices, is the least of my favorites. But that doesn't mean I hate her voice, she is damn good.
@@MichaelJohnson-or4im I cant really see her being a good experienced, no nonsense Lara though. They really should get someone a lot more mature for her voice in the new games to come out. They have already changed the voice actress to Hayley Atwell for the upcoming Tomb Raider anime which is a sequel to shadow. So either keep Hayley for next game or find new actress

Judith Gibbins and Kelley Hawes are my favorite voice actors because I think they both just fit Lara Croft best
Judith Gibbins and Keely Hawes are hands-down the best in my opinion, they have a very mature, aristocratic voice that portrays Lara's character beautifully and with class.
I'm not a huge fan of Jonell's version because the voice not only sounds younger, which kind of messes with the audience's perception of how old the character is, but also due to the fact that it sounds too dangerous. Part of the charm of the first two Lara's (along with LAU) was that she was an extremely polite and refined woman of aristocratic upbringing that also happened to kick major ass-- the dissonance between her tone of voice and actions not only added a unique charisma, but also gave her a vibe of not giving a single fuck. Despite emphasizing Lara's intimidating side more, Jonell's delivery sounds too much like a generic action heroine and kind of takes her charm away. (I'm not saying Jonell is a bad voice actor, this is just my opinion.)
The 2013 reboot was my introduction to Tomb Raider so Camilla will always be my favorite Lara, really fits her personality naive but brave for the reboot, one of my favorite series hopefully they continue to make amazing Tomb Raider games

In the german dubbing, the voice of the first two Tomb Raider games voices her mother in Legend.
Judith Gibbins and Keeley Hawes were both believable voices for Lara's character. They both had the class needed for her. I believed they were highly intelligent globe trotting badasses.
Keeley Hawes and a new TR game and I would throw money at it instantly. Back then she made Lara unforgettable. A very talented Croft which is also very intelligent, educated and capable yet calm with a charm like your mother when reading you bed time stories when you were a child while also being all time ready to fight demons if needed. All that and more accompanied with decent music suiting the overal character of the game nicely. A perfect example of a game that can have (and has) class.

Keeley’s is the best voice. She sounds so sophisticated and has that…authoritative sound to it. Yet it’s also soft and could almost make whatever she says sound like a compliment. She makes it sound inviting. She would be my preferred Unified Lara Croft voice. Either her or a new voice entirely.

As for the more modern era of Lara, Keeley Hawes fit perfectly.
I was delighted when the reboot came about, while I do love the emotion Camilla poured into Lara's character it just didn't sit with me. There was all but fear in her voice constantly and not enough of that fearless demeanour. That's just me though. I'm glad this franchise has managed to pull through while still holding it's original significance and I hope they never forget how important Lara's aspects carry her.
I grew up with the 2013 - 2018 Tomb Raider Series, so Camilla Luddington is the best for me. But I see what people mean about Keeley Hawes, so Keeley is definitely the best Lora Croft overall, and Camilla is the best for the Series I grew up with.

Keely Haws was my first introduction to Lara Croft and to hear her voice again brought back so many memories playing Tomb Raider Legends, Underworld, and Anniversary. I was also surprised to hear her return to the role in COD, which makes me even happier!
Jonnell and Keeley are my favorite voices for Lara, they did a fine work, mostly Keeley as her voice reminds me a bit of Alice from American Mcgee's Alice.
I like the 1996 one because that was the year I was born in and also 2006 because that was always the voice I associated to sound like Lara Croft, and the classic Anglian Jolie and the recent one of 2018 are truly my favs.
The early Lara's were good but for me Keeley Hawes is the best.
