The Zepp Tokyo concert is awesome, I watch it a couple times a week and it never gets old .
I saw them at least a dozen times in their first 5 years, including their 5th anniversary show at Shibuya Eggman. Eggman was very good to B-M, booking them again and again and again-B-M played there more often than any other club. Eggman's booking manager Mr. Kubota did more than B-M's own management agency to keep the band going in the early years.
A big Band-Maid fan👏👏thank you for supporting Band-Maid 🤘
@@venusgaijin You're welcome VG. I have been thanked by B-M themselves, but always good to hear it from other fans. You're a big B-M fan too.🤘
You might be interested to know that the show beginning at 1:40 was 2 Feb. 2014 at Club mismatch in the Ikebukuro district of Tokyo. One of the guys in the front is Takkun, a well-known Japanese B-M fan of those days. Always good for overseas B-M fans to remember than there was a Japanese fanbase well before B-M became popular outside of Japan.
As for B-M's acoustic performances, they did several all-acoustic shows in the summer of 2014, and I saw two of those shows. They played songs from the "Maid in Japan" album and "Ai to Jonetsu no Matador" single, including "Thrill". Miku barely played the guitar (and didn't "po" all the time). Akane had a very simple kit: snare and hi-hat, and on a few songs played a cajon. It was very much like on the Engadget Fes vdo, which was from later that year, in November.
Yes please to a part 2, thanks for your time and effort, I can never get enough of all things BAND -MAID 😁👍🍻
Thank you, Bruno😁🫡👊
Yes, Venus Gaijin, please do a PART 2. Your videos are much appreciated.
Thank you, I'm glad you liked it 😁👊🤘
Always enjoy watching some classic videos/pictures and information on Band-Maid through these years since I didn't find them until January 2020. Thanks VG, greatly appreciated.
Thanks, Jim😁🤘
World domination is best era and outfit for me 🤘
It´s a long way to the top if you wanna rock & roll...🤘
Totally arbitrary but I would make the first era 2013-2016 (progressing from local to international shows, moving from indie to major label, playing provided songs to writing their own songs) that ended with Brand New Maid; the second era 2017-2020 (three full albums, more international traveling, excellent concert recordings and videos); and the third era 2021-present (the problems of pandemic, but gaining audiences through youtube and online streaming, Unseen World and Unleash, and resuming touring in 2022 and 2023). Excellent and yes, part II is needed!
Thank you for this. Band Maid always bring me joy!
I'm glad you liked it 🫡🤘
Love the video of knocking on ur heart
Agreed totally, that the red-and-white costume was the best !
In all the discussion of why things all began to truly take off with the famous Thrill performance/and Mexico etc------they all seem to miss the fact that it was the fabulus red costume ,plus the abstract and visually engrossing all-white background! Graphically superb !
Whoever did costumes and staging for that was responsible ,in large part, for their sudden success !
Would love to see the same costumes AND setting for a future song or two !!
I'm an old guy so time means nothing to me, all Band Maid songs are new
😎👊
"Don't Let Me Down" was a song I discovered BAND-MAID.
👏😮
Absolutely! I cannot wait for your next video (part 2) installment. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
Cheers mate, good stuff. Hopefully we see part 2 also.
Thanks 👊😁🤘
Rarely mentioned is their pre-release concert for Just Bring It, in early 2017. JBI is my favorite, and what I consider 'classic" Band Maid. Never found out why just a handful of songs got released, and not the whole concert. There was an intensity to their performance. I have read that concert was their first solo, big audience sold out show. Also I imagine the first live performance for all the new songs from JBI.
Thanks for the info about the pre-release concert👏😁 ( and Just Bring It🔥🔥)
@@venusgaijin Yes Akasaka Blitz. They released a 30 minutes version of that concert with one of the Singles if I am remembering correctly.
"Freezer" and "Shake that" are favorites from New Beginning.
👏👏 Freezer
2016 is a major step for world domination with concerts in the West and their first composition Alone. Freezer and Shake That for me. Beauty and the Beast is crazy good too. A part 2 yes and 3 too. We can never get enough of Band Maid. Thanks VG.
Very interesting video! The earliest B-M songs sound a lot like the Go-Go’s to me; do we know if the Go-Go’s were an influence on the ladies or their songwriters?
I miss the short skirts. Not that it matters, but it’s rock and roll, just go for it I say
Конечно ждём второй части!
🫡😁🤘
👍👍 🖖❤
❤🤘👊
Great compilation, please keep it up. And please normalize the audio track: some parts are extremely loud, some are too low.
I know😭
The problem is the headphones I use. When I notice that the audio is too loud or too low, the videos are already posted🫠
Yes for part2
😁🤘
Gaijin, thank you for the recap of Band-Maid’s beginning. Very few of us, except Vladimir Chupin, realized how aMaidzing these ladies are and would become. I look forward to their future and our (Maidiacs) new musical experiences brought by BAND-MAID. Thanks again
Great comment 👏
And thank you, I'm glad you liked the video👊🫡
When you say "us" I assume you mean overseas fans. There were quite a few Japanese fans, and myself among non-Japanese fans living in Japan, who did realize how amazing B-M were and would become.
Nicely done! Always great to see a review of the history of this great band and your pictures and videos were spot on to help describe their story. Cheers!
Thank you for the comment🤩😁🤘👊🍻🍻
Excellent!!👏👏👏👏👏
My favorite songs from New Beginning are Freezer and Arcadia Girl. Beauty and The Beast is my #1 fav Miku-led song, PO!🕊💕
Thanks 😁👊
FREEZER🤩
My fav Miku-led song is Rock in Me 😅👊
I think those post-Thrill tours were crucial, especially the overseas ones. In the US, the big "serving" that year was Saturday eve at 2016 Sakura-con in WA. Once upon a time there were a few close-to-pro shots from that show on YT, but sadly they have disappeared. All that's left are a few limited and shaky captures. I also look back fondly on Studio Coast and Zepp as reminders that, yes, Band-Maid recordings can be mixed and engineered well.
👏👏
And yes, there are many Band-Maid videos that have disappeared from UA-cam😪
Loved this trip down memory lane! YES, YES, please do a Part 2!!
Thanks😁🤘
🫡
👍
Venus Gaijin, Awesome job on that 5 year recap of Band Maid's history.
😁😁 Thank you, Bill🍻🤘
Bought and have been replaying the earlier CDs and they really are worth revisiting.
The first era was the best era. Visconti's involvement was a poor decision. Their music never appealed to me after that.
I'd also like to know who suggested recording Don't Let Me Down!
Bring back tiny hat. I may re-join the fandom.
😂I disagree, no tiny hat🙅♂️🫣
Thanks for the comment🤘
Thank you for making this, great research and effort! 🙏
My favorite from ‘New Beginning?’ Probably the underdog “Freezer.” No official video, never gets any setlist time, but what a riff! Plus Akane does her disco beat like she does in “Freedom.”
(Part 2 you ask? Of course!)
Thanks man😁🤘🫡
I love Freezer👊😎
