- I had this uploaded a while back but then I accidentally deleted my UA-cam and had to create another one. So, here it is again. I did change the key to make it fit better with my voice. Enjoy.
I still come back to this cover every now and then and think I cry every time.

This is a wonderful rendition. I wish I could share this to someone irl and we could mutually enjoy it. I don't think sharing the cover of Kettering on social media would augur well for my general mental outlook.

Incredible cover, and I also love that no attempt was made to emulate the accent in the song it just sounds like what I expect yours is, which makes it a lot more emotional, kinda sounds like super melodic speaking. Amazing, love it.

Larry rounds Thanks! :) The first song that ever made me cry by them was Wake, and then Dear (but that was more because of personal relations to both song). You can never forget how it made you feel listening to The Antlers for the first time. I used to have both covers on my UA-cam but they were horrible quality. I hope one day I can redo them and post them up here.
I haven't heard someone play the piano with that much emotion in ... well ever. Also the slight tempo changes made it amazing. Thanks for sharing this it was inspiring.
Thank you so much. The slight tempo changes are probably due to the fact that I have a terrible sense of rhythm, and I can't stay on tempo when I'm playing by myself. I've had that pointed out to me several times and its actually really hard for me to hear it. I'm trying to work on it though. Hello. As far as I know, sheet music for this doesn't exist. I played this by ear. I also changed the key to accommodate my voice better, so it wouldn't be accurate to the song anyway. Sorry!
The original is in Am, it just is going up in thirds from an Am chord, up to C, and some suspension of an Em chord with the right hand being a second on B and C. Then in does a little turn (B, C, B, A) back the Am. Then it repeats!

In the video I couldn't help but notice you had someone in your mind you
were singing to. I am not going to ask any further, we all have
personal experiences.
I've been singing this song non-stop lately and I
have to admit I have thought about recording myself but insecurities are kind of in the way. And I can't help but to be amazed that you even got through the
song to the end, even playing it. Just wanted to say I respect you for
that, I can only relate to you as to how hard it must have been for you at the time.
At the time, I did. This video is pretty old. It was actually recorded in the summer of 2013, so this was a long time ago for me.
I actually can't stand to watch this video because it makes me cringe at how emotional I seem to be. the only reason I keep it up is that people really seem to dig it.
It's never hard for me to do this--and I've mentioned this in one of my other videos--because singing and playing is a way for me to express myself, and it actually makes me feel a lot better. I am much better now at toning down the dramatic emotional responses I have when I sing. haha
Sorry about your insecurities; I have many insecurities as well when it comes to this kind of stuff. I hope you are able to feel comfortable enough to do it If it's what makes you happy.
I understand it makes you cringe, but it's very important to see what you felt at the time wasn't wrong or exaggerated in any way, shape or form. You should never regret the way you felt, people have been telling me to man up for the past 5 weeks. I don't expect them to understand it, it's how I feel, everyone experiences their low points in life in their own ways, and you happen to experience them through music which is beautiful in my opinion. And yes I think I feel comfortable enough to record myself, maybe not with this song but a different one. Anyway, I thank you again from the bottom of my heart for making this video. You are subconsciously helping other people, such as me, dealing with rough times and that's the most beautiful thing any person can do.
I have watched 2 covers of this including yours, and yours is different to the one I saw before. I like your approach as well, your voice is rather sweet instead of sharp. You also seem so passionate while singing this, and that is what really matters in the end and it can take you places.
