I played clubs in tampa back while we were all working the local circuit -- first time we opened for these guys was the first time id heard them was totally dumbfounded with jaw on the floor at the style , i continue to write music in this style now, long live the power station greatest tampa club ever
I was honored to meet the band several times as well playing the Tampa clubs, Rockit Club, The Ritz, etc. Criss Oliva was and will always be the most inspirational metal guitar player ever, even more so than Rhodes for me. Caffery, Ozborne and I used to cut up misbehavin at the New York pizza joint in Ybor. Hilarious those guys. I first met Caffery after waking up on his couch after a Metal Awards afterparty the night before. He was so cool he actually gave me a copy of Dr. Butcher before its official release. I still have that CD.😎😃

Jon Oliva the singer and piano and keyboard's was a great awesome singer his voice was extremely unique and not like anyone else's and his stage presence and just everything about his style and piano and keyboard's ability if it wasn't for Jon Oliva and Criss Oliva the band wouldn't have ever taken off I think the first albums were absolutely amazing and brilliant and the best right up there with any other metal the dungeons are calling , sirens , power of the night and hall of the mountain king and gutter ballet and streets were amazing the new singer was good but nobody could ever replace Jon Oliva and Criss Oliva ever period they were savatage they were the band and without Jon or criss they wouldn't have been so great in my opinion plus wacholz and Middleton too !!!

Like I said below, I wish they would of kept this sound and replicate it on the rest of their albums! This was only one but I love it

i saw them 3 times in seattle maddogs bar , the farside tavern & the ballard firehouse , queensryche even showed up & hung out at the maddogs or farside show they kicked serious ass at all 3 shows & at the ballard firehouse i got a photocopy in blue of the back of the album hall of the mountain king signed by criss , jon and steve i couldn't find middleton anywhere & i talked to criss for awhile inside & outside at the ballard firehouse show he was a very nice guy & took the the time to talk to a big fan & guitarist , i have been learning and playing savatage songs for year's my personal favorite albums are sirens , dungeons are calling , hall of the mountain king , streets , gutter ballet , power of the night , fight for the rock & i do own edge of thorns & handful of rain & wake of Magellan buy without jon & without criss it's not the same for me no disrespect to the guy's that are on there ! i have tons of killer originals songs that are alot like early savatage sirens , dungeons and hall but the only singer i would ever even consider playing with would be jon oliva or no one & steve walcholz on drums and middleton on bass and that's it !!!
