- HID headlight upgrade I purchased on eBay for a VF Holden Commodore.
Installed in my 2015 HSV GTS without any problems- bolted straight in and no wiring cutting/splicing required.
So far I'm happy- the light output is a much better improvement than the dash cam footage picks up.
This only fits VF- the same seller has another design for VE.
Money well spent
Good video. Not sure why they gave us the HID setup (Chevy SS) and not you blokes. At least you got the marvelous HSV offerings. Man, what I'd give for an HSV Clubsport wagon with a bolt action transmission... Thank you and your mates for an awesome car. 👍
thank you very much a 2016 sv wagon driver the left hand light just went and after watching this the decision was made and once again you did help another holden person ... much thanks
Another thing you can do to access the back of the drivers side headlights is to remove the radiator overflow filler tube
Good work mate. Laughed my head off. Exactly how I would do it, try and cut corners, swear every second but eventually do it. My GTSR has a Harrop airbox on the passenger side. I reckon I will get it in without a Jack........
Well done bloke 👍💪 Nice info and real world test drive
You're a true blue (6000K) Aussie legend!
Great video. Thanks for the add. Going to do my Capricev soon.
I removed the air box on my gts bro same kinda deal but love the video bro thanks for the upload!
Thank you because I was trying to Figure out how to change my HID low beam on my 2014 Chevy SS . Thank you very much Sir big help
Brought the same hid kit from the same seller and they flickered then turned off. Had to return them for a refund. Went with OSRAM Laser Vision which are 130% brighter than the standard halogens. And they're legal unlike 6000k hids
You’re a legend mate
Hi. Great video! Do you have a 2 year update? I’m looking to upgrade mine in my VF-II Calais V, but I’m starting to think my headlights need an alignment as my beams appear much lower (closer to the car) than your’s does, stock. I might do that first. I upgraded the fogs to LED, but it hasn’t made a difference AT ALL, you can’t even see that they are on without seeing the dash light, maybe there’s something wrong there too.
Good Video thanks mate ill be adding both HID Low & High Beam soon to my VE
Just have to watch hid pattern in a reflector designed for halogen. Different beam concentration and spread. Often will fail WOF test here in NZ when on beamsetter.
hey i just replaced my vf2 ssv low beam by removing the airbox, looks identical to the HSV,
Would recommend leds for the parking lights and number plate lights. They should match the hid colour well.
I’m struggling with my leds on my SSV. Passenger side was easy and fine. Drivers side was a nightmare and it didn’t go in right. It’s not adjusted properly and I now have to redo it. Having issue with the metal clip.
I love your hood .i have a 2014 ss sandan I want to go with a hood like yours
Thanks for sharing.
Yeah I jacked the car up which gave enough clearance to undo bolts from guard. You need to take guard off in my SV6 VF too, impossible to get from top. the engine may be different but everything else in the engine bay is the same for all VF series, you airbox doesn't look any different to my sv6.
Upgrade the reflector high beams with LEDs instead of a better halogen
I don't understand why the commodores have to remove front bumper in order to get the headlight out, both my vf and ve are the exact same, youd think theyd make it easier
Very nice did you do any adjusting of the headlights up or down to line them up?
IDK i think i liked the original ones more
Do you find you get error messages in your dash from the hid? Mine seems to be giving me grief
I would have just used the NARVA Extreme and the wedge globes for the parkers at least they are ADR approved, thus no worries for the headlight lens getting too hot in summer months, also about the same 4,200K, your not going to have problems, especially due to the HID electronics, nothing can go wrong with the NARVA globes, unless they dont work ? cheers :)
Nice. Advice get K&N air filter
Lol yes that dirty old repco
Nice. Looks easy enough but having just ordered these globes for my VF clubby I think I'll pay a sparky to fit them for me.
It is eazy to take off the wheel
Looks maddddd
how did these stand up to the test of time?
Left is up higher than right
WOW cant wait till the leans on the headlights start to melt especially in summer months, lol, never ever use anything which is not ADR approved, should have just changed them over with the NARVA 110% blue or extreme globes, the only HID globes i would change is the fog lights on the series one VF SSV SS or calais that is it and it van be done, that way all the globes will be blue/white light ? All new headlights and even older ones are plastic not glass ?
7071t6 I have been running these & also in my high beams for nearly 2 years in my vf Calais 2 . No problems with heat or melting. Awesome globes especially on long trips, country driving.
They are projector beam headlights so the beam is directed to the road & not into other drivers eyes.never been flashed by other drivers.
cheers thanks for the update, i just wonder when summer comes ,when its over 30 at night thats all ?
7071t6 I live in Brisbane so it gets pretty tropical in summer. No problems so far. Touch wood.👍
Keep up the good work, have you thought of getting a interchiller, due to the high heat there, it does wonders for the engine and supercharger and you get around 40RWKW extra. :) Keep the car looking good champ, i have a 15 SSV Redline with DPe mufflers and Brembo rear brakes as well, still only 35K on the clock and a daily driver as well. :)
7071t6 I’ve ran a similar wattage HID and even on 47 degree days the lens is colder than with existing halogens. I’d be more worried if I went to Thredbo on a skiing trip that the lens is not hot enough anymore to melt ice/snow off the lens.
Why don’t you try the LED one?
I’ve been disappointed by most LED kits. Anything 25W or lower is basically worse than halogens, anything 50W or higher is good but produces fuck tons of heat. Makes me worry if it’s going to melt the plastic
led highbeam
Hi there another romeokilo
But not too you‼️
Look into supervision Australia led u won’t look back
