    Professional Pilot review of the Honeycomb Alpha XPC and Honeycomb Bravo Throttle Quadrant by Honeycomb Aeronautical, NOW AVAILABLE FOR Microsoft XBOX. This version of the Alpha XPC is fully compatible with the XBOX Series S and X and allows the Alpha, Bravo, and Charlie (rudder pedals) to be connected to a PC or an XBOX through the XBOX hub.
    The review starts with a non-traditional and fast unboxing of the Alpha and Bravo and an overview of the Alpha XPC and the XBOX Hub.
    Purchase a Honeycomb Alpha and Bravo with these Amazon links:
    Alpha - amzn.to/3Z4UaAg
    Bravo - amzn.to/3Z2a3r6

    Interested in the Alpha and Bravo but unsure of how to mount it? Here is a solution: Wheel Stand Pro on Amazon - amzn.to/3i3TxWZ
    Until the Charlie rudder pedals come out, for now, here are two great options for rudder pedals:
    Great rudder pedals for a low price that I own and have used for 6+ years: amzn.to/3KoRGXJ
    More expensive pedals I do not own but want to own: amzn.to/3qcclaG
    NOTE - The Honeycomb Alpha I received DID have the XBOX Hub included. Many Alphas on Amazon do NOT have the hub included for unknown reasons. Be sure to read the content list. Buying the Alpha and Bravo through Amazon and the XBOX HUB through Honeycomb Aeronautical may still be the cheapest option.

    Would be cool if they didn't charge an extra $200 for this yoke just so we can have it on xbox and $90 for the hub. If you take into account the PC yoke is almost always on sale making the PC version close to half the price

    • @scottmattern482

      I just got mine. Its not as bad as you think. The hub was $40 and the newer/xps version of the alpha was $350. Its a fair value for what you get. I couldn't get myself to spend $350 on the turtle beach yoke/throttle, which seems horribly overpriced for what you get.

    One of the better reviews I've seen for MSFS related hardware! Excellent job with the production, and rather informative! I'm considering getting the Honeycomb to use for flying twins (mostly C310 / C414) on MSFS. Currently have a Thrustmaster HOTAS Warthog throttle and stick, which works well enough, but hard to practice losing an engine, feathering, etc. Would you say the Alpha is "better" control-wise (for typical GA type flying--besides obviously matching the actual physical control style), vs a joystick like the Warthog?

    • @thecorporatepilotdad
      @thecorporatepilotdad  Рік тому

      I also have a similar HOTAS setup as you and without a doubt the Bravo throttle quadrant adds a lot to the level of immersion. Trying to feather and secure an engine in a twin is possible with the virtual cockpit but it’s SO MUCH easier and realistic with the Bravo. Using differential power to turn in a tight space is also possible and seamless with the Bravo. The Alpha does make sim flying more realistic. Both are great to have. They do take up a fair amount of space but can be removed easily when needed. Thanks for the kind words in the review video. The video was a fun change of pace and I’m looking forward to the next product review.

    Hello! I have just bought the XPC Alpha and Bravo set. I dont like this too low resistance when turning right/left on the yoke tho - it is completely not realistic. But I would like to ask you about the other thing. I can see on your video that when you do a turn with the yoke, the yoke in the game turns quite the same angle and in the same time. I just started to use the XPC and in my first flight there is a big annoying delay when doing a turn. In your video the delay is barely visible. How did you do that ? what settings do I have to change in MSFS to obtain almost zero delay while turning ?

    • @thecorporatepilotdad
      @thecorporatepilotdad  5 місяців тому

      Check the dead zone on your aileron axis. You can adjust the control sensitivity to your liking. I did not have to make any adjustments after hooking the yoke up. The Alpha is not perfect, but compared to other choices in the price range it’s the best thing around.

      Thank you. I thought about force feedback, but turbulence is felt more in the seat and not so much on the yoke. The yoke definitely moves in strong winds when on the ground in GA airplanes. The choice is yours. As far as the "stickiness" on the Turtle Beach product, I have not used it, so I am unable to address that. The Honeycomb Alpha does have a springy feel that gets harder to push/pull in fore and aft elevator movement. It's easy to push/pull near neutral.

    Just got my Alpha Bravo Hub Combo for XBOX Series X and I have to say they are fantastic. Heard many complaints about the pitch axis but I honestly don't feel like it's any different than the 172 I fly around. I constantly trim that thing to take the pressure off the yoke in real life so I just do the same in the sim. For anyone on the fence, I'd say ignore the naysayers and just go for it. Like many people, I considered other less expensive options like Turtle Beach, etc. but I've learned in life that it's always better to buy once, cry once vs buy something a bit cheaper only to still wish you had the other more expensive option and then end up buying that option ANYWAY! I paired my setup with the Logitech rudder pedals which work fine for now since I cannot seem to find the Charlie rudder pedals anywhere. I'm seriously kicking myself for not doing it sooner as I've been previously flying with the TFlight Hotas Setup. Please note that if you are on XBOX and still have the TFlight Hotas and rudder pedal setup that those rudder pedals will still work with the Honeycomb Alpha Bravo combo. You just would need to have the old rudder pedals and flight stick plugged in via a separate USB hub which are like 5 bucks on amazon. I personally found this to be a bit clumsy though so I got the Logitech rudders to overcome this and keep things a bit more streamlined.

      That’s a good price and they are only on sale through January 31st. Since this video has been made, it has become apparent that hardware support (repairs), phone support, or any correspondence from the company is almost non-existent. You may want to see what it is like contacting Aerosoft if you have any issues and if they can help you if there are any problems.

I exhausted my efforts to get Honeycomb support to help. They ignored me. I am using an XBOX X for the MSFS 2020 SIM. My opinion is using a flight sim yoke for simming is great, but do not expect it to help when learning to fly in the real world. The resistance and weight of the yoke in a real airplane will be vastly different than a yoke for the sim. Sims are good for navigation practice, practicing a cross country, etc, but not good for tasks that require precise control input such as slow flight and crosswind landings.
