"At Liberty" was my introduction to Elaine Stritch. I was absolutely blown away.

Same here! And all these years later I am still re-watching videos featuring the fabulous Elaine.

Elaine is a great raconteur. She is a master of describing a situation in so few words to make you feel that your right there feeling every experience as if it were happening to you . Garland has it and so does Elaine .

Only Stritchy, with curlers covered by a scarf on a TV interview. I just watched At Liberty again. She is brilliant and so vulnerable.

Of all the Theater Talks with Elaine Stritch, this one's the best. Stritch was Stritch but she did share the stage with Mr. Wolfe, who is a great director.

At Liberty is the most fabulous AA mtg ever! It's a fulfillment of a Thespian musical fantasy woven with recovery. The strength of theatre in a single performance, what a gift.
    Peace be with you...Lukerdog

One of the masters of her craft. To be able to go through all the ups and down of her professional and personal life. Kudos. I saw the At Liberty show with her and fell in love with her. Great job, and thanks guys for doing the interview. You are such a plus to the acting community in general. Thank You...

I saw the taping of it, would give anything to have seen it live. It inspired me to do a one man show for my thesis.

It was great to see this THEATER TALK...which was taped BEFORE "AT LIBERTY" moved from the Public Theater to the much larger Neil Simon Theater. Curious to know IF there were ANY script changes/additions.

I love the headscarf which is probably Hermes. I remember when ladies wore headscarves like that in the 80s.

Yes, Elaine arrived with curlers in her hair and elected to wear that scarf over them. Very chic indeed.

When Elaine did "Sail Away," critic John Simon wrote, "Elaine Stritch plays the male lead." EK! Simon was the meanest writer.

I wonder, what kind of budget does this show have?

She never says how much of this show is actually true. But who cares?
I don't think she's being falsely modest when she says she finds it hard to accept the (richly deserved) acclaim this show has earned her. She was dumped on for years in her career, known as trouble, which has made for an anecdote or two.

She could quote her positive reviews verbatim (and did, over and over, ad nauseam)

She dismisses the nasty John Simon review of her > Sail Away.
