Looks brilliant! Doubt I'll ever get a copy for myself on TS as I myself don't own many steam era routes, but it looks and sounds fantastic! A suitable and welcome addition to Train Simulator, definately!
1. Dwight D Eisenhower is preserved at the National Railroad Museum in Green Bay, Wisconsin. 2. After 4469 was destroyed, the name ‘Sir Ralph Wedgwood’ was given to sister engine 4466 (later British Railways 60006)
The original whistles fitted before WW2, came from Gresley receiving a Crosby 4" three chime from Captain Howey (the other is currently on Winston Churchill at the RHDR). He liked it so much he ordered more from America. Also after the York station bombing the chime off Sir Ralph was fitted to a Y8 (the smaller version of the Y7)
I never knew A4s wore bell whistles - always thought they were all chime whistles. I've seen stuff about the A4 whistles being changed during WWII because streaking down the mainline the whistles sounded like falling bombs from airplanes (the doppler effect) which caused several false alarms as folks would sound the air raid sirens in response to hearing the whistles approaching from far away. I always wondered "How does a chime whistle sound like a falling bomb?" But hearing the bell whistle I now understand why that would have been. That means in the story of "Gordon's Whistle" in the books Gordon could possibly have been wearing a bell whistle because his whistle being stuck open caused air raid sirens along the line to go off and even caused five fire brigades to go out.
Just want to elaborate on what I said about the valve gear. I don’t doubt the accuracy of CW’s research or design of the models, and it’s not something unique to them. The reason I say it looks ‘off’ is because the radius rod never angles downwards from crank to expansion link. It’s happened to me before when I’ve attempted 3d modelling, not that my work is anywhere near CW’s, and I see it with tons of other high quality virtual and scale models where there either seems to be not enough or too much travel with the eccentric crank. Overall it and the A3 are both fantastic and I really enjoy both of them personally, just a little quirk that I’ve noticed
27:35 2013 was the 75th anniversary of 'Mallard''s record run - you may remember The Great Gathering event at the NRM. It was helpful that three A4s were in working order that year to help things along.
According to Yeadon's Register, The Grey livery worn by 4489 Woodcock was only worn for trials before it went into the works for repainting into Garter Blue and renaming as Dominion Of Canada.

The opening scene with Silver link and snow playing is so fitting…
