- Super Mario 64 is the very first full 3D Mario game and it was and still is one of the greatest game of all time. One complain I sometimes read is how the camera isn't particularly good. Well, that's because you didn't push "R" and tried the Mario-Cam. This is truly a painful experience! Ryan Amburgy Technically they’re not, they’re not outright hacking the game. They’re just using glitches to their advantage. And the whole point of any% is to beat the game as fast as possible, and do whatever it takes to beat it

Unfortunately I worry that this "genre" of videos is kinda running its welcome out.
They started off really fascinating. Genuine challenges that required serious effort to get past obstacles. But stuff like this...can you beat the game with the camera close up? Come on. Of course you can. The camera doesn't directly affect a vast majority of gameplay. It's not like you have to plan out routes or completely ignore gameplay mechanics. So it's just 17 minutes of "ok to beat this level you beat it, but with the camera up close" and it's just not interesting.
...Honestly yeah. I think he may be running out of ideas.

Yes, you are right! A challenge is a challenge, where you change everything to see if the game is still possible. And changing the camera angle is not a good challenge. The camera does not affect Mario and his movement and inputs (except for the joystick), meaning that his challenge is just meh...

Well, you don't HAVE to get the wing cap for "Mario wings to the sky"
Neither do you have to use the metal cap in "Through the jet stream"
Nor for "Collect The Caps"
why is mario 64 better than most modern games
Excluding Nintendo games, Mario 64 has amazing levels, music, game design, bosses, replay value, and its overall an iconic game.
This just feels like a video where he just talks about the levels.
At this point in life I need a compilation of Nico saying positive things like "and you'll be okay :))" or "so no worries! :)"

You know, you can zoom out with the Mario cam, and I actually prefer this in several situations over the Lakitu cam. Mario cam zoomed in has like no purpose however lol.
I use zoomed in Mario cam for crossing the plank in wet dry world for star 2
when he says pausing the game in rainbow ride then immediately gets shocked by an enemy. haha

Before even watching this video, I already know it is possible to do this because I pretty much did it when I was still a child back in 2001 and I was 10 years old back then. When I was a kid I was the only person I knew who preferred the Lakitu cam, everyone else was always saying "Lakitu us useless, always switch to Mario cam" and "Lakitu's camera angles keep screwing me over, I need it to be in Mario mode!"

You know that you can zoom out with the mario cam.
You should've precised "zoomed-in Mario cam", because when you zoom out it's basically back to normal with slightly better camera control.

You're not FORCED to have the Wing Cap for Mario Wings To The Sky. You can still use the Cannon to complete it. Yes, it makes it a little easier, but, you don't NEED the Wing Cap. You can beat it without Wing Cap, I've done it in DS. I even beat the Red Coins behind the Waterfall, WITHOUT Metal Wario. All it takes are 5 precise Ground Pounds, 4 to grab the Red Coins and 1 to grab the Star. There are multiple solutions to certain Stars. I have spoken. Nicobbq, please try the Waterfall Red Coins without Metal Mario/ Metal Wario. It's hard, but, NOT impossible.
I mean the majority of the time I player Super Mario 64, it's with the Mario-cam.
I just have it zoomed out. I find it makes the game much easier.

Next time, beat the game with the fixed cam! You can change this from the pause menu but i guess you already know it...
Is it possible? Should be.... it's not like your treating a harmless object as an impossible barrier or removing one of Mario's key movement options. Maybe more tedious, with a few leaps of faith, but otherwise you should still be able to reach any location you could reach before hand without the use of any glitches.
Almost made it. Raged quit at the last Bowser because of how amazingly difficult it is to even grab him the third time.
Also I almost raged quit in Rainbow Ride trying to get the red coins. Even pausing the game to have an overall look at their placement didn't do it for me! Good thing there's stars that are way easier even in this level otherwise I wouldn't have bothered for this long...
How I say it: Bowser in the Dark World and Bowser in the Fire Seas.
How Nico says it: Bowser in the Dark Land and Bowser in the Lava World.
