Doktrin dark was a part of a unit which was completely slaughtered by rollento and his soldiers. Doctrine dark barely survived and now he needs to wear a mask to breath. I don't know why he uses a wire and explosives, maybe it fits his personality...

He was Guile's subordinate, and part of a recon team. After encountering a rival team led by Rolento, both sides suffered heavy casualties. Rolento came out unaffected but D.Dark is traumatized by his entire unit being slaughtered, along with a torn jaw which is why he has the mask. He blames Guile for not training them properly and seeks out to get revenge against Rolento.
