I love how this was a coming of age teen movie and it became a horror movie the second Bishop fired the gun.
Fun Facts: In the alternative ending, Bishop killed himself. So when we met his dad in the opening, he was just staring at the TV like he was empty inside, then Radames called his dad 'a prison yard hoe'. So, the entire movie he's proving he's not soft. So the ending is the same, but Bishop heard police sirens and trying to lip out of Q's hand and he's like, 'What's you doin?' Bishop said 'I ain't going to jail, man' and Q is trying to pull him back up, but Bishop let goes then he falls without screaming.
Rappers EPMD is at the bar when Blizzard was robbing it and Special Ed (I Got It Made and Crooklyn) was in the car with Raheem's baby mama. And Yo MTV Rap Ed Lover and Doctor Dré were the judges at the dj contest

One of the greatest hip hop hood films ever. This was pretty much the East Coast version of boys in the hood. As far as the ending, you have to pay attention to the ending credits music mix. The mix is supposed to be Q on the radio doin his thing. Good to see the next generation appreciating the culture of hip hop from the old days.

If you listen to the end credits you can hear that Q didn’t actually end up getting framed, Instead he ends up being a successful DJ. I am confused as to why the directors chose to reveal that at the end of the movie instead of just having that be the last scene.

Every time I watch this movie, Bishop made me sick to my stomach. When Q started cursing at Yolanda, I was not expecting that. I was expecting Q to break down crying like Tre did in Boyz n the hood because Bishop is ruining his life.
The movie takes place in Harlem, New York and Reebok's where the shoes back in the day, especially in the 90s if your not able to get Nikes or Jordans on Layaway 😆

The movie they're watching in Steele's house is "White Heat", starring James Cagney, released in 1949(!).
The kid who played Q's brother is George Gore II. He had a small role in "The Devil's Advocate"(great movie), and also had a role on "New York Undercover". If you can hunt down the first few seasons of NYU, you'd probably like it.
The show ran for four seasons i think. Near the middle of season 3 they started getting rid of major characters. The show fell off after that. Before then though you had a solid undercover drama with a great soundtrack every week.
That look on your face when Q threw the gun was EXACTLY how I felt when I first saw this movie😂. It makes sense for him because Q was never about that and is completely rejecting it due to everything that's happened, but for us watching it's like "...f__k you doin'??? You're gonna get shot!"😂

Yeah. I also thought it was weird how Bishop suddenly flipped. I mean, he was built up as being unhinged before the robbery. But I didn't think he would shoot the store owner unprovoked. But ultimately, it boils down to Bishop being a coward that got an instant feeling of power when holding a gun. He couldn't stand up to anyone that was stronger or had more authority than him without it.
