10:50 Yeah, Yolanda is a nurse who’s seeing a boy in school. That was every boy’s dream to be with an older woman. In reality, Cindy Herron is 12 years older than Omar Epps when they shot this movie. She was 30 at the time of filming and Omar Epps was 18.
I love how this was a coming of age teen movie and it became a horror movie the second Bishop fired the gun. Fun Facts: In the alternative ending, Bishop killed himself. So when we met his dad in the opening, he was just staring at the TV like he was empty inside, then Radames called his dad 'a prison yard hoe'. So, the entire movie he's proving he's not soft. So the ending is the same, but Bishop heard police sirens and trying to lip out of Q's hand and he's like, 'What's you doin?' Bishop said 'I ain't going to jail, man' and Q is trying to pull him back up, but Bishop let goes then he falls without screaming. Rappers EPMD is at the bar when Blizzard was robbing it and Special Ed (I Got It Made and Crooklyn) was in the car with Raheem's baby mama. And Yo MTV Rap Ed Lover and Doctor Dré were the judges at the dj contest
Bishop’s dad was raped in jail that’s why he was sittin there like that. Bishop was tormented becuz of that in school and called crazy cuz he was weird. So he lost it when he got a gun
One of the greatest hip hop hood films ever. This was pretty much the East Coast version of boys in the hood. As far as the ending, you have to pay attention to the ending credits music mix. The mix is supposed to be Q on the radio doin his thing. Good to see the next generation appreciating the culture of hip hop from the old days.

Another good 90s hood movie is Dead Presidents! Has Larenz Tate, Keith David, Chris Tucker, and Terrence Howard, highly recommend, a very good and powerful movie!!!!
FUN FACT: Q's little brother is played by actor George O. Gore II (He played Michael Kyle Jr. on the sitcom My Wife & Kids). Also, there are 2 actors in this film who were also featured in other films with Tupac Shakur: Jermaine Hopkins (Steel) was also featured in another film with Tupac called Bullet. His character was named Pudgee. And Eric Payne (Frank, Yolanda's ex-husband) was in another film with Tupac called Gridlock'd in which he played a cop. By the way, I love how you say the guys shouldn't disrespect one another but then you call Steel fat throughout the movie. Lmao! (*Sighing*) The youth.
The movie takes place in Harlem, New York and Reebok's where the shoes back in the day, especially in the 90s if your not able to get Nikes or Jordans on Layaway 😆
The movie they're watching in Steele's house is "White Heat", starring James Cagney, released in 1949(!). The kid who played Q's brother is George Gore II. He had a small role in "The Devil's Advocate"(great movie), and also had a role on "New York Undercover". If you can hunt down the first few seasons of NYU, you'd probably like it. The show ran for four seasons i think. Near the middle of season 3 they started getting rid of major characters. The show fell off after that. Before then though you had a solid undercover drama with a great soundtrack every week. That look on your face when Q threw the gun was EXACTLY how I felt when I first saw this movie😂. It makes sense for him because Q was never about that and is completely rejecting it due to everything that's happened, but for us watching it's like "...f__k you doin'??? Yeah. I also thought it was weird how Bishop suddenly flipped. I mean, he was built up as being unhinged before the robbery. But I didn't think he would shoot the store owner unprovoked. But ultimately, it boils down to Bishop being a coward that got an instant feeling of power when holding a gun. He couldn't stand up to anyone that was stronger or had more authority than him without it.
