Thanks, been staring at my textbook for 30 minutes trying to make some sense of ellipses. Within the first 2 minutes of watching this video I've gotten more meaningful information than from my textbook
I have taken Pre-Calc Online over the summer. I never needed any tutors to come home. YOU were my "Tutor" Mr. McLogan. Thank you for Everything! Your videos will be used when I take AP Calculus AB this year.
THANK YOU SO MUCH! I couldn’t understand this and was given more than 10 lecture videos to watch from our school. I found yours and it’s like.... mind blown- totally makes sense now! GOD BLESS YOUR LIFE!
Thank you for sharing your knowledge with us mister! It really helped me many times most especially in my assignments, where i couldn't understand the way my teacher teaches the pre calculus. God bless you more
What's weird is that when I saw the thumbnail for this video, I swear it was the equation of a hyperbola with a minus instead of a plus. Part of the reason I clicked on this was to see how Mr. McLogan would get around this. Great video. Glad I watched.
I'm taking a multidimensional math course this semester and it has started with parabola, elliptic, and hyperbola equations and graphs. I haven't seen these in over twenty-five years. Thank you very much for posting your easy to follow instructions. Your videos related to parabolas and ellipses have proven much helpful and I'm able to complete my homework assignment. I'm looking forward to finding your videos concerning hyperbolas.
Omg i was crying because i need to pass my module tommorrow and i did not understand my teacher because his explanation is hard to understand ...he literally explained this topic in 1 hour ... its so fucked up ... i dont know what to do ....im so glad i found this. . I already finished my schoolworks ... thank you very much ... i learned a lot of things in pre calculus because of ur videos
I just finished watching this video as well as the one you did on parabolas and I was worried about my upcoming final exam until I watched these. Your students are lucky to have you as a teacher. Crystal clear explanation. Thanks so much for the help!
I just finished precalc, not understanding this at all, and it really bit me in the but now that I'm in college algebra and am having to do ellipses again. this video helped soso much. thank you!!
This is more helpful than my analytic geometry class. Even i'm not a native english speaker (im from México), but i can even understand this way better than my "teach'a". Thx
I dunno but hearing the other students voices made me feel less lonely😅. It was all cozy and really nice and! I understand this better😁. Thank u sir🙇🏽♀️
I only needed to know the first part about the a and b because I was confused about the vertices and co-vertices and how to know if the ellipse is vertical or horizontal for my test tomorrow, but I continued to watch and you explained it so simple and perfect. THANK YOU!!! 👍
this was for pre-calculus, thankfully we have a group of great teachers at my school
Must be nice lol
I skipped precalculus and placed into calc 1. I'm now in calc 3, and your videos are saving me! THANK YOU!
when a 2012 video is more informative than the college class u paid 1k for
and I have a lot more videos to help😀

your welcome, I really appreciate it
as a grade 11 student, Sir, thank you very much, I learned a lot from what you taught about pre-calculus. From Philippines👋🏻👋🏻
I just try to do my best, glad they help you out
you are very welcome, I have worked on doing that as I always found it hard to keep up with a teacher when they worked so fast.
Brian McLogan we are all very thankful for a person that can explain things crystal clear. Thank you seriously

That's what I am here for. Happy to help
Respect to Brian for caring enough to reply to 2020 comments in a video that’s 8 years old
From 8:06 to the end, the minor axis includes (1, 5) and (-7,5). You only went a distance of 2 in each direction instead of 4 (square root of b).
Everyone in these comments be complimenting the teacher while I'm over here in the middle of a math test not knowing what a foci is
your very welcome!
I swear your videos have been really helpful these past few months. Not even this is enough to thank you for all the help you've given us.
I would fail my class without this channel... Thanks!
Never stop making videos
I spent hours trying to learn this through my lecture notes and you taught it to me in less than 10 minutes, you are amazing!
very happy to be able to help you out!

Brian you are a legend to me I literally understood all the chapters that will be out in our exam except for ellipse now I got 80% of it
You look like you are a serious and unfunny person but seriously you have a great sense of humor.
What's weird is that when I saw the thumbnail for this video, I swear it was the equation of a hyperbola with a minus instead of a plus. Part of the reason I clicked on this was to see how Mr. McLogan would get around this. Great video. Glad I watched.

At 8:15 how is the radius of the minor axis 2 units left and right of x= -3 ? Isn't b= 4 so shouldn't it be 4 units left and right?
Sasuke Uchiha yes that is correct thank you I will put up an annotation with that change
Your videos are extremely helpful! I've learned so much in this one video then I have the entire semester of my math class!
Rose Meyers awesome! so happy to be there to help you with your work!

wor dar that you very much! I greatly appreciate your comment
I think there's bit of error with the b stuff
Should it be 4 in each side instead of 2 since squareroot of 16 is 4?
Yeah, that's true.
You're better than my math teacher. Keep up the good work!
you are very welcome Clark!!
Thank you for such a clear and concise explanation!

25(X+3)^2--------16(y--5)^2
(X++3)^2/16------(Y--5)^2/25
16X^2++48^2----25y^2--125^
8X^2+++24^2----5y^2-----25^2
x^2+++++3^-------y^2-----5^2
X^2++++++9------Y^2----25
X^2==9---------------Y^2==25
X=3____________Y=5
(3+3)^2/16---(5-5)^2/25
9^2/16-----------0/25
81/16--0
1:14 the reaction is gold
