I think the problem here is trying to show the enormous size of the attacking force from a single-view perspective,which cannot be done.The bomber stream was nearly 100 miles long.From the vantage point of any single B-17,it probably wouldn't have looked much different than the earlier raids with less aircraft.You really couldn't see planes outside of your own combat wing very well,and the fighters were never that close.They have compressed all of that into a much smaller piece of airspace,which makes it look unrealistic.

I can't believe my eyes..
Hundreds of P-51s with their wing tanks still attached.
And instead of circling above te bombers formations, they fly THROUGH the bomber formations and head straight for the German fighters that have the altitude and of course, speed advantage...
Mustangs flies in a very close formation.. Almost wing to wing..
Someone of CGI, forget or didn't know nothing about the finger-four doctrine?
( German fighters dive at an angle that would have broke off their wings )...
The ensuing combat, a mix of enemy/friendly bombers and fighters (which has never happened in this way), seems straight out of Star Wars...
( The bombers, always fired on any single-engine plane that came within range )

I know the mustang was a very good plane but the spitfire was a tin bit worse then the mustang

The Spitfire and Mustang were very different aircraft. The Spitfire was a short ranged highly manoeuvrable interceptor. The Mustang was a durable long ranged escort fighter. Both excelled at their role and would have been poor in the other's.

Doesn't quite rise to the quality of Pacific or BOB. Digital animation looks cheap and unrealistic. Deserves better.

I despair at the lazy inaccuracies that IMO insult the men involved. Mustangs never flew like that. B17s dropped far fewer bombs. Why not get it right?

So they threw in some extra bombs and the mustangs flew closer than they would have (at least to your knowledge) to the b17’s. Big fuckin deal. You should really only be asking yourself if you were entertained by the show. All of the ww2 vets I’ve listened to seem like mellowed out, humble men. I really can’t picture a vet being offended by the things you mentioned

They actually dropped too few bombs in this episode. According to another channel (whose name escapes me right now) they looked into the historical records of this mission and each B-17 actually carried 42 x 100lb bombs. In this scene each bomber drops 27 x 100lb bombs.
