I, too, have gone through some serious health issues in the last year and a half and just recently returned to thrifting. It literally came out of nowhere. You are an absolute joy to watch. ❤I Love that this shops proceeds go to respite care❤..I currently care for my mother alone,she is on hospice in my home and the respite days that give me a break are honestly the only thing that keep me going some months if I'm being honest..

My poor mom was shocked at how little we owned in the kitchen. One mug is enough for us as I don't drink out of mugs and Bare rarely does. Two cups = perfection. But in her mind we suddenly needed way more of everything. 😂 (To be fair, we had both been really sick and I would have at least bought paper plates or thrifted more if I had more time to plan... and could drive.) 😅

Basically the single stitch shirts are almost always vintage. They have one row of stitches (easiest to see on the sleeve). Newer shirts have a double stitch/row.

If it makes you feel better, my Goodwill is a "Boutique" and their prices are sheer craziness. $100 for a new Ann Taylor LOFT dress, $500 for a 1980's wooden coffee table that was mass produced, $1.99 for a Dollar Tree can of shaving cream that was without a cap and half used...I could go on & on. Haha!

Really enjoyed the haul...and glad you are feeling well and getting out-and-about! Just a clarification about Hong Kong. It very much exists today as "Hong Kong". In the late 1990's, Hong Kong was essentially "returned" to China after over a century being part of the British Empire. Hong Kong is part of China, but has its own economy and government. Confusing and interesting history, for sure!

My intestines burst in 2008 and I had a feeding tube for 3 months they really wanted me to keep it in but I was able to eat so I fought to have it removed, please keep trying new foods because it should eventually work, try to continue to stay away from dairy bubbles sugar. You are correct in thinking protein shakes are not good. Stay away from protein bars. I did well with eggs.

I'm an islander from AMI been away from Florida since 1985. It's all tourist. Our old house sold for 2M $$ a few years ago over on Gulf Dr. That's just so wild.

The SunBurst pin was called a Swag pin back in the 1960’s. I had several by Sarah Coventry. The pokey pin would have had a pinch metal back closure. An earring back might work. You would pin the Sum on you left or right bodice near you shoulder and then hang the smaller pin down lower and to the right or left with the chain hanging loosely like a curtain swag. We also wore them as a sweater guard. The Sun would go on one side of the sweater near the top button and the smaller pin would go on the other side of the sweater at the same level. If I can find a picture I will post it later.

The baby medallions are usually used as crib medallions where I come from lol….you pin them in places in the bassinet, crib …I move them out as baby grows and is able to reach,pull etc….

We all need to win the lottery. I'm telling you. I am trying work harder these next two weeks before I go in for surgery. Recovery could be 1-2 weeks or 4-6 weeks, depending on what they find/remove.

I actually go a bit crazy when I don’t have a complete matching set of silverware/ flatware it makes me upset when my guests lose my butter spreaders. I have a bnb, so sometimes I need to serve 4 guests breakfast, I frequently have family dinner guests and it would be upsetting not to have perfectly matching full place settings, that’s probably why I sell dishes and silverware because I think people are looking for replacements. I was excited to have a set with an extra 6 teaspoons included. When I go to friend’s houses and they have a missing dish I find it on eBay and gift it to them.

How do you get the name tag out of clothes like the vintage champion sweatpants?

I've been successful with freezing the item for a few hours and then immediately pelling off the level. Rubber cement erasers sometimes work. I would also try a blow dryer/heat gun and a bit of goo gone. You can also use parchment paper right on top of the label and then an iron to heat up the parchment for maybe 10-20 seconds. Then peel off the label with tweezers as it will be hot. You might want to Google other ways but I've usually been successful with these.

How is Bear’s recovery?

I am glad to be saying that he is recovering. Very slowly but even the fact that I was able to type that first sentence made me smile.
Tonight he went for a walk around the neighborhood and has been doing that twice a week for the last month. He has started to do some heavier chores around the house (vacuuming, dusting higher areas, etc without needing to immediately rest), and has been singing about twice a week.
The first two months after the surgery were very scary (hence my mom flying down during Christmas). He has started to see a psychiatrist to help with some of what has happening and it has helped. His motivation is slowly improving. Thanks!
