  • School Board Director, Jean Marvin, gives a short summary of some of the highlights from the November 28st School Board Meeting.
    Topics discussed:
On November 28, the RPS School Board conducted two meetings, and recordings of both are available on UA-cam.
The special session was about the District's World's Best Workforce Report, required since 2013 to be filed with the state. It speaks to the goals of preparing all children to be ready for school, closing racial and economic achievement gaps, working to ensure students are ready for career and college, and all students graduate from high school. At the same time, the District submits an Achievement and Integration Program to the Minnesota Department of Education that addresses the criteria of access, representation, participation and outcomes. Again, specifics of both of these reports are recorded and available on You Tube.
The regular meeting included recognitions of Special Education Day, International Volunteer Day, and a recognition of John Adams science teacher Deb Las receiving the Mn STA Secondary Science Teacher of the Year award.
The focus topic for discussion was the proposal for Attendance Options Expansions. This was an important, lengthy presentation and Board discussion that involved 10 points of the proposal. Much more information about this proposal can be found by watching the recording of the meeting or looking at the information on the RPS website.
