It's interesting, from the outside, because of all of the glass, I expected it to be very modern inside. I was pleasantly surprised by how warm and homey it felt because of all of the wood and furnishings that she chose. I really liked her aesthetic. I just love this house so much. What a great use of space. Really makes you think that we could have a lot more housing if we used this style of build here and there. Very cool!
@@SonOfGod0600 so? Many families are not composed of kids. Which is also one of the reasons why considering a huge house with many bedrooms as a standard market staple is idiotic
This house is actually an architectural achievement in how it achieves so much functionality in such a small space, while still feeling full of life. It's surrounded by natural light as it travels between the two sides of the house throughout the day right out of Frank Loyd Right's school of thought. And it includes a full kitchen and bathroom. Really spectacular.
Such a cool and unique home! When I saw it from the outside I thought it would have to be very cramped but I actually really liked the design and all the different levels and the great use of light. This home looked like a beautiful nest. You don't get that nest like feeling if you have too much space around you. That's why I really liked this one.
Bet you anything that if you hang out there for a day it'll feel cramped. Great design but dimensions are dimensions. Also wondering what lens they used to film with.
Kudos to the architect and her personal taste. It could easily have been claustrophobic instead it manages to be warm and cozy. I'm getting exhausted just thinking about those stairs but still, for such a narrow house and only having light from the front and back, I'm impressed they made it so light and cheery.
I wish more builders and architects in Australia would build houses like this, this house has everything you need in a small footprint but is overall still 1400 sq ft, so still a sizeable home. These are the types of designs that should be taught to potential apprentice builders so the future of housing is more cozy and less wasted spaces. I love it. Also potential for more cost effective housing and more of it.
I think it's gorgeous, had I had the money, I would have jumped at this. I don't know but I love small, quirky places and this has a whole heap of them!
It calls personality, lol! I so much agree with you. The lady owner has a sensitive, artistic personality and it fully reflects in her lovely house. Well done - the architecture, structure, design, and even locality; I love everything about this house - one of the most charming I've seen on YT.
This lady reminds me of my aunt and I love how excited she gets when she explains one of her fancy vintage objects, you can really tell this is her forever home
This is great for a single person, but if you would have family such a narrow house would make it more difficult to live together. But it does seem pretty ideal Josie for a single person, lots of rooms with different functions but not too big rooms so you don’t feel too isolated or have to clean too much! And I assume she could move her vintage objects!
I am so envious. This home has SO many spaces, and re-imagines what any person needs. Every level offers new light, new clever ideas and a new usage opportunity.
I actually love this house. The balconies and the reading spot/library/dining area. Surprise! It has a basement and backyard! That’s one of the better kitchen layouts for a narrow space. Where you have the option to add a narrow, movable island, rather than cabinets on each side.
Ok, so I´ve seen my share of narrow houses on UA-cam, but this one is first that really feels... homely... and that I would actually like to live in. Great use of space. 10/10
This is my dream house. Also it reminds me of when I make a stunning item and can’t keep it. Like why wouldn’t the person who built this place keep it. This video is very amazing at the same time.
Saw the neighboring bay and gable towns and knew it was Toronto 🥰 This has the same charm as tiny house. Who knew it was width that made them that interesting. Love all the wood and natural light. The open staircase makes possible to live there without feeling claustrophobic. Must be fun to live in such a unique house!
This house is an absolute gem. What a dreamy place to call home! Not only the style of the actual house, but all the furniture and accesories truly make it beautiful.
I can see where this would be a very comfortable home for one person. It is quite lovely because you can see parts of other rooms from almost any point in the home. The wood and the white walls and the white kitchen and the light blue bathroom are all just beautiful! Narrow homes must work well since someone has lived there for over a century!
@@FackingPREP it’s in Toronto. I would say it would sell for a few mil. Even houses in the core that are on the verge of being condemned sell for a mil and change here.

Thanks for checking out the video Cathy! For sure all those stairs aren't for everyone but the design and history of the house are so interesting! We also had a great day visiting and getting to meet Jessica :)
The mixture of skylights, modular furniture and the radiators gives this such an European feel! This seems like something I'd have seen in London or maybe Amsterdam.
When I saw the glass front of the house I was concerned about privacy, but she's handled it so beautifully while maintaining a phenomenal openness in the interior. The entire property is gorgeous!
thank you so much, I used to live on Sumach street, and drove by this home many many times, I was always curious how it looked like inside, the owner has done a wonderful job, I love the bathtub :)
It's more square meters than my 3-floor house, it is so inventive made. I fell in love with it the moment she said it is 5 floors, but actually, it is more. The light is stunning. It has all, a balcony, an outside space, 3 bathrooms, and the kitchen is so spacious. I would swipe house with her any moment.
This is absolutely my favorite home so far. So comfortable and homey and not at all cramped. So many houses are cute but look so uncomfortable and inconvenient. This one actually looks very livable and even more than most could ask for.
Her downstairs bathroom is amazing! The office is cool too. Obviously this isn't for everyone, but it's a beautiful home and actually looks like there is a good amount of living space.
I just absolutely loved her style and her resourcefulness. The use of thrifted items, historical ones, and the practical feel this home has -- it wasn't designed only to look good, but to be functional for real people. I love that she showed how she hangs clothes to dry, discussed the need for toilets, and the challenges of really living there. This feels very real and cozy, and I think it was a wonderful way to take advantage of the space! Brava!
Personally, I like to have bigger open spaces in my home, so before watching this video, I wouldn’t have thought that I would actually like this house. Both the previous and the current owners should be proud of what they have done with the place. Also I think that the fact that you have to use the stairs just to enter another room could be a solid selling point. And wow, a backyard AND a balcony! Plus, that balcony is bigger than mine, and same with the kitchen, and I live in a city apartment. Great house, cozy home!
Very pretty and cozy feeling. 8' wide isn't bad at all. Obviously the same as most tiny houses. I love that she has all the shelves mounted to the wall to give the eye more floor space. And I love that tub by the window.
Absolutely love it!!!!! I live in Amsterdam, so the skinniness of the spaces and use of every single nook (along with furniture puzzles!) felt very familiar. The construction and finish is also delightful. Whoever designed and built it put a lot of love into it. Great stuff!
I’m always impressed with someone who lives in the small house or that kind of narrow house in this case. They can arrange and adjust their space effectively and efficiently.
I love this cozy, functional, amazing home with all the separate rooms on many floors and 2 outside spaces to enjoy in nice weather. I can easily understand the owner being very happy to own this property.
This is delightfully cozy, much more warm inside than the mostly glass facade would have led me to believe it would be. Space to space it seems tight, but overall it does not feel too claustrophobic, and i feel like two people could live here comfortably without tripping over each other all the time
The design gives it so much natural light. You would think it would be dark and gloomy looking inside. I'm impressed.
