My mother played this album to me and her second album when she was pregnant with me, then after I was born in 1988, through my baby years, and right into my teen years. Enya will forever hold a special place in my heart. ❤

Many pop tunes based on that song! Including Ready or Not by the Fugees.... & Much more...

    • @spiralsturns9835
      @spiralsturns9835 Рік тому +3

      Sampling of "Boadicea"Edit
"Boadicea" has been sampled by numerous artists. The Fugees sampled it for their song "Ready or Not" on The Score (1996). A lawsuit against the group for copyright infringement was prepared as they had not asked for permission and did not give her credit. However, after Enya confirmed that the group were "anti-crime and drugs and their message was quite positive", she decided not to follow through with the suit. As a compromise, later pressings of The Score included stickers placed on the cover giving Enya credit.[18]
On the 1999 album Astronomica by American heavy metal band Crimson Glory, the intro track "March for Glory" is an interpretation of Enya's "Boadicea".
In 2003, R&B artist Mario Winans sampled "Boadicea" for his song "I Don't Wanna Know". Producer P. Diddy personally contacted Enya for permission and gave her 60 percent of the royalties,[19] and included her name on the song's subtitle as "Mario Winans featuring Enya and P. Diddy". It went on to reach number one on the UK Singles Chart in 2004. "Boadicea" was also sampled on the answer song to "I Don't Wanna Know", "You Should Really Know" by the Pirates featuring Shola Ama, Naila Boss and Ishani, which peaked at number eight in the UK in 2004. "Boadicea" with "Ready or Not" was also sampled by R&B group Nina Sky on their single "Time to Go" featuring rapper Angie Martinez, from the mixtape presented by Cipha Sounds. In 2008, Italian DJ Francesco Zeta sampled "Boadicea" for his song "Fairyland"; he made another version in 2012, subtitled "ReAmp", that also used the hardstyle sample. In 2011, a small sample of "Boadicea" was used on "Der erste Winter" by German singer Cassandra Steen for the album Mir so nah. In 2012, hip hop artist Meek Mill sampled "Boadicea" on his mixtape Dreamchasers 2 on a song named after the Fugees' song, "Ready or Not". In 2015, Masika Kalysha sampled the song on "Hella Hollywood". In 2016, Salvatore Ganacci's song "Dive" sampled "Boadicea", and Enya was credited as a featured artist. On Nigerian-American singer Rotimi's 2019 album The Beauty of Becoming, he sampled the song on a track entitled "In My Bed", which also featured the rapper Wale. In 2022, "Boadicea" was used in Creepin' which was by American record producer Metro Boomin, Canadian singer the Weeknd, and Atlanta-based rapper 21 Savage.
The song is also featured in the Stephen King movie Sleepwalkers.[20]

Heard just a snatch of Boadicea somewhere the other day and it became an earworm, haunting me. It took a day of my mind slowly reconstructing it to identify it as Enya, and most of a night on UA-cam to hunting down the right track. That driving, haunting hum - da da dahhh dum! da da dahhh da, da dum, Either I can now forget it or it is stuck in my head permanently. Well, at worst I have had worse things sruck there. Da da dahhh dum!

I heard it as a child so it is a very comforting record. Even with that bias, I still cant imagine her other albums, post Watermark, being better, even though many may think so. Thank you I have so many great memories from this album in 1987 (and the TV series that led me to it) which then got me into Clannad and the next few Enya albums . . . perfect music, brings me back to peace without fail ❤

I remember creating a large globe, filling it with light and placing all my pain inside...expanding it while dancing and throwing it higher and higher until it went soaring away ! Gave me peace while going through a horrid time in my life. Enya's music is so graceful ! So grateful to Enya and her musicians.

No other musician but Enya. She plays all the instruments and layer it to create her music. Vocals too are all hers. Except when she sings live on stage then she has backup singers/musicians.

The story of Boadicea, Song at 31:45
Born around 30 and died in 61, Boadicea was the wife of Prasutagos, a Celtic king of the Iceni, a Celtic people who lived in the region of Norfolk, in the southeast of present-day Great Britain.
This King, hoping to preserve the independence of his People, had pledged allegiance to Rome.
On his death, the Romans annexed the entire kingdom and confiscated the property of the royal family.
The king having bequeathed his property to his two daughters, Boadicea wanted to oppose this preemption... She was whipped in public, a punishment usually reserved for slaves, and her daughters delivered to the soldiers... Humiliated, she then triggered an uprising against the Roman occupation.
At the head of a coalition of Breton tribes, she launched a military campaign in the south of the island, looting and burning several towns including Camulodunum and Londinium. After crushing the Romans at the Battle of Camulodunum, the Breton army was however decisively defeated at the Battle of Watling. Boadicea died shortly afterwards.
Even today, she is considered a popular British heroine.
A statue of her in her chariot has been erected near Westminster Bridge.
    Traduction :
