  • After spending a packed day in Jajce, we decided to take a slightly more relaxing day to see what the smaller town of Travnik has to offer.
One of the things we've noticed about this region is how truly nice the majority of the people we interact with are! We mention it in the video, but also wanted to put it here because it seems like the Balkans get a bad rap sometimes, and in our experience it's not deserved at all. It has made for some really fun travel experiences and we're so happy to be here!
It turns out Travnik has some beautiful scenery and our favorite fortress to date! On our way to the fortress, we passed by a gorgeous spring that appeared to be the most touristy spot in the town! Alongside of the spring, there were some souvenir stands and restaurants where you could sit and enjoy the atmosphere.
We, of course, had to finish the day with some baklava as it's one of the area's specialties. This time, however, we got some less traditional ones (and one of the Sarajevska ones - Marshall's favorite from Sarajevo) including a nutella and chocolate one. All of them were amazing and we felt it was the best way to end the day!

Stari Grad, as we call it, was built by Bosnian king Tvrtko I Kotromanić. After Ottomas took over fortress, they built mosque inside of the fortress, although only minaret left to this day. Rest of the fortress is unchanged. You are welcome back any time :)

This is wonderful, I'd never heard of this town. I'm doing a couple of trips of my own at the moment (just back from one of your haunts from last year, Budapest), hope to catch up with the rest of your Bosnia tour next week.

This is completely overrun by Arabs and is not a new spot. Bosnia is one of the most corrupt countries in Europe and there isn't really much there, neither in the shops nor in terms of infrastructure. The Bosnians go to Croatia to shop. Please don't talk nice about this region to people, because it isn't it. Maybe in a few years, different politics, lots of investments, people live very poor in this region. I personally like the Bosnians, they have a Slavic soul with Muslim beliefs. are good people who will die for you if you have problems. But the country itself is very sad and poor. So don't just show people the beautiful places, because the country has many more dark places.

When I visit Rio de Jeneiro as a turist, I'm going to visit the most beautiful places if accessible, eat good food make my own experience about this place and history.
I certainly don't go to the Favellas where I can get robbed or even worse. I don't go and protest against the corrupt government that won't solve problems of their citizens.
My point is, peole travel to see and visit places from their own unique standpoint and experience, soething they can't google or see on Tv. They are not overly exaggerated with politics, corruption and what not.
Travnik is a perfectly save place to visit considered the normal tourist routes, even more safe than some places in Western Europe. Every city in every Country in the World including Western Europe has dark spots you as a tourist should avoid. That's why you ask local people or make your own online research if you should visit the specific spot or not. Is it worth the trouble
The people of Bosnia (no matter the religion and ethnicity) are friendly and welcoming people all around the world east and west, despite our own problems here that you stated.
This people definitely propose to visit the place and not to make a living there. So all this information you giving about corruption, bad politics are known facts to visitors.
By your logic people shouldn't travel 90% of worlds countries because there is something wrong with this or that Country.
I see you also have problems with Arabs that are visiting this Country and that's and sadly says a lot about you.

Bosnians don't give a damn about slavic blood .
      We aren't nationalists.
As a Bosnian my religion (Islam) comes first and everything els is not of big importance for us.
