    We love our MX-30. We’ve had it 3 months and already have 7000km on it! We did have a level 2 charger installed but never had a range issue. My husband commutes from Port Coquitlam to UBC daily.

    I absolutly love this review it is by far the most honest, fair and usefull out there. It actually pushed me to test drive and order my own MX30. In the Netherlands my commute is 30km's and I can charge everywhere I stop.

    I've had mine (same color set as in this video) for 5 months now, and my range-anxiety doesn't even exist because even though I have 100 Km in total every day to work, it more than covers that on the home charger (yes I am still using the little charger it came with), and I've driven 10K km now, which is a LOT. I've even taken it for longer city-to-city rides and found it to be a non issue, because when you drive at any range over 2 hours you'd want a car-break anyway, so the charging (fast) is so fast that when you're done eating, you're ready for the next 2 hours drive anyway.
    And unlike a Tesla (which is a common sight here now), this one raises eyebrows everywhere since no one has ever seen a car with doors like this, so the fact it's rare - makes it that much more exclusive to own. And no one mentions the fact this car rarely if ever breaks down for any owner, ever... unlike a lot of the top electric brands, so that's a little hidden secret right there.

    As a Mazda technician, personally I wouldn't buy the MX-30 because it doesn't meet my criteria. I get it, everyone has different opinions on what they like, any reasonable on what purpose of using the car, and I understood on Mazda's approach with their marketing strategy and developing a new invention. I do have to give some credits to Mazda with the designs of the interior and the comfort of the drivability of the MX-30. However, 160 km = 100 miles, it's not the best and I think everyone just has to accept the fact that Mazda is just starting to build a full electric vehicle. When it comes to making the first full electric car, it's not going to be that easy to develop, testing the vehicle, and sell to get decent or high sales. It takes time for several years to improve. This is just the beginning for Mazda like a "introduction". For now, the MX-30 is just an introduction electric car. In the next maybe 2-4 years, Mazda will make a genuine better electric vehicle that will hit the market.

    I'm the owner of a 2023 Mazda MX-30 GS as my first EV because I like the look & finish and the way it handles. Price wise, it's pretty good as Mazda offers a 4000$ rebate and another 12000$ in rebates from the federal & provincial governments (Quebec, Canada). I have to say I use it as a second vehicle to do all my shopping/groceries/meetings etc... all within 40 km from my house and I won't use it during winter time (October 31 to may 01). I understand the range is said to be 160 km but I've done more than 180 km on rural roads & city roads and it was showing15% left! But if you're looking for a primary vehicle for all year around including long trips, you should consider an EV with a 360 km minimum range knowing that in winter time when it's really cold (-20c +), you'll be using "heating/heated seats/heated streering etc..." which will have a negative impact on the range (minus 40% +) and it will take longer to charge. 😊 I forgot to mention, my average is 16 kwh/100 km.

    A month and 1000km, it's certainly not a lot but it's exactly what we needed in Vancouver. Sure it doesn't have the most range but it has enough for your everyday needs.

    We love our MX-30. We have for about a month and I have no complaints. We were looking for a small EV to drive to work and drop off kids at school. It was the best decision!! We have a Kia Sedona and it was quite a big car just to do this everyday and I can’t even talk about the gas we were spending on the van.
    I think the range works fine for us, we charge only 1-2 a week using level 2 charge for 3-4hrs.
    Finally I got the way on the regenerate breaking system and most of the time I get 1-2% back on the battery as I go through a lot of downhills.

    I totally agree with you, i have exactly the same model 2022 MX 30 GT but in white and my wife and i love it, we are both retired and this is the perfect car for us its cheap to run fun to drive loaded with features. we've been Mazda fans for years as their cars give a lot of value for your money but before i purchased this vehicle i read the reviews watched the video's and they all hated it nobody recommended it, their missing the point to this car its the perfect city vehicle 160 Kms. is plenty for city commuting, i plug it in every second night not on fast charge just normal 115 volt outlet and it runs for 2 to 3 days for us i drive from Surrey to Burnaby to visit my mother about 30kms. each way with plenty of juice left visit my sister in law in Abotsford same distance no worries
    i would whole heartedly recommend this car to anyone

    This Mazda model is also sold in Portugal, a very curious design that gave preference to style and less to the use of the total dimensions of the bodywork.
    In my opinion, the front could be shorter, allowing for more space in the back seat, perhaps also a little more luggage capacity.
    It's a pity there isn't a battery pack with greater capacity, for another 100 real kms of autonomy.
    Even so, it is an interesting car, mainly in the interior, presentation and quality.

  • @sdhute
    @sdhute Рік тому +2

    I admit its interesting however at that price with only 100 mile range. It would be the most expensive car with the least amount of range. A telsa 3 is only 38k with close to 300 miles range. Even a leaf at 150 mile range is only 28k. Even the chevy bold it less with more range.

    Thanks for the great user review. I have a CX-30 and am seriously thinking about getting a MX-30 as a second car in the family, and mostly for that carpool lane! I really like this car, shame about the range but I could kinda leave with that. As for blind spots, I do what I do in any car, I lean forward a bit and look at the driver side mirror. Like that you increase the angle of view and see your blind spots well. Takes a fraction of a second and you see everything. Mazda's design is very human centric. Also, those doors might not be for everyone but I can see how useful they are for those with kids.

      @@JimmyMak I'm still trying to convince my wife, since she thinks that the car is very small with small doors in the back. We have a 3 year old and a 5 year old. She is also concerned about cargo space. Only EV around with 3-4 months delivery time and has full fed (5k) and provincial (7k) subsidy here in QC +500$ Mazda CR + 2 yr maintenance free + 2 yr Mazda connect + they don't charge any of those hidden admin fees, interest rates are also decent 1.9%-2.7% depending on term, -1% loyalty rate.

    • @larsoieful

      Actually the difference is super small, I ordered a lower mid tier trim level MX30 in the Netherlands, but the only difference is fabric on the side of the seats, the silver stripe on the outside at the back is black and I have no tinted windows. But I actually gained heated steeringwheel, auto dimming mirrors and a full size outlet over the higher mid tier trim. And no option for the 2-tone paint

    Nice video. Too bad you didn't test out DC fast charge. I'm interested to know real world DC fast charge performance. Most test reviews report mid-30s kW, even though the car advertises 50kW max DC Fast charge.
    I own a Mini Cooper SE with about the same range and advertised charging speed -- I was considering the MX-30 for slightly more room with hopefully no loss in fun-to-drive. The shorter range despite having a larger battery and the disappointing slower real world DC fast charging speed (reported 34kW on MX-30 vs. 45kW on the Mini), however, changed my mind.
    While I likewise charge mostly at home on level 1 or at work on level 2 chargers, the occasional 200km+ round trip drives makes DC fast charging speeds important. In those situations, it makes a lot of difference to be able to charge up to 80% in 30 minutes or less vs. 40-45 minutes or more...

    • @JimmyMak
      @JimmyMak  2 роки тому

      Back doors actually made it easier for us as a small family. if it had normal opening doors they wouldn't be that big making it harder to get in/out. As for the range honestly it's more than enough for a city car. It's not designed to be the only vehicle in the household and to be honest a lot of times a full ev with 400km or range still isn't enough at this time.
