"If you could get a laugh out of old stoned faced Fallon, then by God, you earned it" - Norm Macdonald
Fallon has too much fake laughs to count enough genuine smiles
Probably why he's not interesting
Can't forgive Fallon for how he did Norm, or his writing staff for, well everything.
Probably the best line I've ever heard about Fallon
@@gerritpeacock3571 ?
@@gerritpeacock3571 yeah Jimmy is an asshole for that
"...our friend Norm Macdonald." It wasn't that long ago he showed Norm the door the night of his scheduled guest appearance because producers wanted to "avoid controversy". Way to step up for your friend, Jimmy. You gutless grinning jellyfish.
And the list of hosts who canceled Norm in 2018 during his controversy is one: Fallon. The View, e.g., didn't.
And he never had him on the show again.
@@artvandelay19 Yeah, but Norm had a no-interviews rule from late 2018 to his death and only broke it for his good friend Spade.
@@thebrazilianatlantis165 But did Fallon cancelling his appearance and then not rescheduling him have something to do with it? The other hosts are just as woke as Fallon, maybe Norm thought he wasn't going to be on a show again for a while anyway. He was on The View on September 13th of that year, after being banned from that show years earlier.
I don't know what the truth is, obviously I'm just speculating. I just think it's a bit phony for Fallon to refer to Norm as "our friend" after what Fallon did.
@@artvandelay19 Norm was banned from The View? When?
"It was a stretch for Jimmy, he was playing a talkshow host." HAHAHAA... I love Marty and Steve so much.
Hello Spencer when are you going to play laxative game of skate?
Haha yes! Great! They are quick witted originals! They have great chemistry with everyone.
@@tiredofit4761 especially each other though, they’re both unicorns whom just happened to find one another against all odds! Lol
We saw the video
As they say........"Art imitates life"
A huge lesson for Jimmy and your staff: DO NOT cancel people. Ask the tough questions, you can do that too. Staff members may be hurt, cry but they should be prepared to let people you hate or do not like to appear on the show- AND ask the hard questions. It's up to your guests to confront it, avoid or pretend nothing bad is happening. But it's your job to do your job.
To paraphrase Norm himself, Jimmy Fallon is to comedy what Count Chocula is to vampires.
Wait, I heard him say that line about himself on his Netflix show:
"Actors look on me the way vampires look on Count Chocula."
@Kia Sutu Thanks for sharing your vlog that has nothing to do with this video and isn't even in English
Fallon is such a phoney
@@WaffleEBay12 Uh... yeah, that's what I was paraphrasing.
so amazing?
These guys have been entertaining us for nearly half a century. They deserve more than 6 minutes.
Big facts, for some reason he had like 4 people on his show. Idk why he couldn't just reschedule one of them to extend their time.
They have more than 6 minutes. They have 3 sections the same night
I think it has something to do with it being Climate Night? They did appear in two other game show segments besides this one though. I do agree they should’ve had a longer interview
Mr. Kong, I agree!
Yes because the tpnight show is now a celebrity game show not a talk show anymore, fallon rather have more time doing games with the celebrity guest than interviewing them.
“Our friend” quit milking Norm’s death
Lol Steve Martin literally recommended Norm for weekend update. Norm did a tribute for Martin short. Stop smoking reefer
Only Murders in the Building is the first weekly show I've watched in ages. So good. Hope they revive it after it's short run is up.
I think they’ve been renewed for season 2!
I've really enjoyed it too. The 3 of them play so well off of each other.
It’s been renewed for season 2!
So the Fallon staff cried about Norm which prevented him from going on the show, but they are ok with milking his death now.
Disgusting, the worst part of it all is the hypocrisy.
@@otten5666 but I think the worst part was the cancelling:)
@@AK-dv5mm I like what ya did there! haha
Very well said.
my god, you people are so naive. you act like Jimmy himself made the call to not bring Norm on anymore. It was NBC executives trying to avoid crybabies online. Fallon is as much of a company man as Leno. He is not gonna go against the grain, which is why he will host the Tonight Show for 25 years. Literally nobody had Norm on in the last three years. But you all praise Conan cos he claims after the fact he wanted Norm on. But you all bury Fallon. Get a clue.
Hey Fallon! Remember when you played along to cancelling Norm, and wouldn't have him on your show?
Yeah, bullshit
Exactly - Fallon is a cheap shill
Y’all really need to shut up. There’s so much threat coming from the cancel culture side of the aisle that it makes people terrified to do anything for fear that they will be canceled themselves. Also, do you really think it was his decision? Or does he have 100 people higher up than him who call those shots? To believe otherwise is completely moronic.
@@emmaflournoy3821 actually I think it was his decision. Conan was told the same thing and he said no....
@@MrKeysjimmy Conan was free to say it because he’s completely detached from NBC. Jimmy is still under contract with them so we won’t know either way yet.
Fallon lost me as a viewer after his cowardly cancellation of Norm’s appearance in 2018.
Same here... Such a phony degrading this once iconic talk show. It's all about Jimmy.
why did he cancel his appearance?
@@2Chenzzzz cuz he's a jerk
The network didn’t think Fallon could handle an interview with Norm. And I guess Fallon agreed
Okay
The worst thing about Fallon is the hypocrisy. He litterary cancelled Norm as a guest.
I disagree, I thought it was the raping
Yep I immediately thought this when I saw this video.
Then i think it was the drugging, then hypocrisy way.... way down
@@andykay4554 And the scheming
HELP! HYPOCRISY
Martin Short's happiness is absolutely infectious. Same goes for Steve Martin. Both are in their 70's and always look on the bright side of life. We all wish our parents will be as lively as them when they're that age. Kudos to Martin Short since the tragedy of his wife's passing as well.
Everybody is different in front of an audience
Martin Short is another Canadian jewel. I have always loved his comedy and you're right this man is always smiling and positive. His SNL character, Ed Grimley always had me in stitches and his portrayal of Frik, opposite Sam Neil and Miranda Richardson in Merlin is still one of my favorites. The role was brief, but Short was endearing and adorable in it.
Isn't he the one who canceled Norms appearance because his over-woke staff pitched a hissy fit? Screw that guy. Love Martin and Steve though.
Fallons staff wouldn't allow norm to come on?
@@angelone1839 yeah I think his cry baby staff are the ones who got him canceled..not a Fallon fan but I dont blame Jimmy for what happened
@@jwalkerfitz7827 yeah. They gave Jimmy so much crap for not talking down on Trump when he came on his show. Snowflakes acting too crazy
@@angelone1839 yeah cause Norm stuck up for Roseanne and Louie c.k when they got metooed
I will never look at Jimmy the same way for not standing up for Norm...Norm BLED INTEGRITY. And Jimmy could have shown the same and respected such an icon, who unbeknownst to anyone was suffering a life threatening illness
Conan was also told by his superiors to not have Norm on. He sided with Norm and had him on regardless. He genuinely liked Norm, despite what others said about him. And he talked very highly about Norm while he was still alive. When I saw the other talk show host making monologues about Norm, I said "Fallon better not say one word." Think about what insights we were robbed of by Fallon bumping Norm off the show. We would've had one more great appearance by Norm -- and on Fallon's show, which is more informal. It would've been great. However, cleverly, he didn't directly say anything about Norm, but filtered it through Martin Short and Steve Martin. I think if he had given a monologue, like the others, and put it on UA-cam, he would've gotten clobbered with dislikes. I think most of the likes are for Steve Martin and Martin Short.
Yes props to Conan for that
Do you have a source that Conan was advised not to invite him either?
@@rolanddeschain6089 I should have said "Conan was similarly told to not have Norm on." When Norm was on SNL, he was telling OJ jokes and the president of NBC, who was friends with OJ, and also Conan's mentor, told Conan to not have Norm on.
that's because consn actually has class and why he's the best late night host ever.
This is why I don’t buy Fallon’s nice guy act, I think he’s just a people pleaser who tries to avoid controversies that might upset some viewers because he desperately wants to be liked by everyone. Dude still hasn’t recovered from the backlash he received after ruffling Trump’s hair lol. And I find myself cringing more so than laughing watching his interviews. He’s so painfully awkward and disingenuous, he’s barely improved in the 10+ years he’s been doing this. All he does is giggle and fake fawn over his guests
I like how the title correctly states that Steve and Martin remember THEIR friend while the host states "OUR friend". 4:42
It is *okay* to have no backbone but don't go around calling people, who you refuse to stick up for, your friend.
You hit the nail on the head.
Fallon wasn't a performer on SNL when Norm was canned. He may not have been there at all, even as a writer.
They’re referring to when Fallon cancelled his appearance on his show due to staff complaints
Lol Fallon wouldn’t let norm on because he defended Louis CK.
Fallon has no business talking about Norm after the nonsense with his petulant staff crying over something he said and cancelling his appearance.
I agree wholeheartedly!
Exactly!
Fallon canceled Norm's apperance for a Hollywood Reporter interview where he defended, amongst other people, Jimmy Fallon.
Yeah, lets not talk about the greatest comedian ever, on the Tonight Show. Dumbass.
whatever dude he was still a comedy legend and he had every right to say something and give his guests a chance to say something.
Don't forget Jimmy cancelled an appearance by Norm the day he was meant to appear over something he said.
Fallon has been neutered by the woke
I don't watch regularly anymore
@@ndanieltx Also remember he doesnt make the decisions personally.
@@GrizzlyAus at the end of the day it’s his show.
@@Dantheon but you definitely don't know how a show works, lol.
@@StefaniaOlla what do you think would’ve happened if Jimmy had put his foot down and said “no, we’re having norm on” ? They gonna fire him? Jimmy could’ve taken a stand.
People like Norm are remembered because they stay consistent to their true selves. People like Fallon are forgotten because they are slaves of whatever the current trend is at the moment. They become like useless reeds broken down by the wind.
Fart knuckle
i havent watched the tonight show or even a clip from it ever since that, besides this clip
He does good impersonations though, so he'll probably be remembered for a while yet. Other than that, he's too much of a fake.
@@alukuhito I'll admit he has great impersonations but he sold out hard a long time ago, so hes pretty much just a play dough blob at this point
@@mariopario8637 Sounds about right.
Fallon's staff is still crying. Not over Norm's death but for the interview he did with hollywood reporter.
allowing others to honor Norm is all this show can do.
Martin Short is fantastic, "is it the horse deworming medication?"
We gonna just ignore the fact that jimmy canceled norms appearance and is now acting like he was welcome there
Good point.
Fallon's laugh is the phoniest thing I have ever heard in my life
Seems like the kind of character that doesn’t own a dog house.
@MisterG I think Seth Meyers is great.
@@kitano0 What would make Seth Meyers laugh? 🤔.
@@jamesjones6069 He had Bill Barr on his show the other night. He was laughing pretty hard with him.
Fallons life motto is Be sincere whether you mean it or not!
Hey, isn't this the same Jimmy Fallon who kicked Norm off his show last minute because of snowflake staffers? I guess he conveniently forgot about that. Funny how that works. But real fans of Norm won't forget.
Yup, Fallon is a cancel culture coward.
Yep jimmy blew it there… he fucked up
Fallon was no friend to Norm. Fallon turned his back on Norm.
I have a hard time excusing Fallon for Norm getting cancelled from the Tonight show. Unlike Fallon Norm stuck up for his friends and took the hit to his career because of it. Maybe it was the producers who cancelled Norm, but I don't remember Fallon speaking up for Norm the way Norm did for Rosanne and Louis CK.
I told my son I had read, Steve Martins's Cruel shoes. I was young and I laughed and laughed. I think the funny people are the best of us. We filter our rage and pain in a cruel world. They make us better people. Norm, I love you. The best of us.
Norm would love that Steve Martin had his back, by telling his Joke to Jimmy…. 😂
Norm was the Grand Champion Comedian…and Jimmy is the Stuff on a Rock….😂😂
Steve Martin has aged well because he's looked 60 since 30
😆
Too bad Jimmy Fallon wasn't that good to Norm. He put his PR ahead of his relationship with Norm. Jimmy was not a good friend to Norm.
yeah probably but I also doubt if he took a stand it would have mattered. Norm still wouldn't be allowed on the show by the executives. Only thing that would change is Jimmy probably would be getting in trouble too.
Ironically Jimmy Fallon canceled Norm. I hope he feels shitty about it now
"our friend"...wow, Jimmy. Just...wow. What's the old saying; "with friends like him...you don't need....."
I miss Norm. He was my fav villain in the Fairly OddParents.
@lonesomecrow yeah,he played Norm the Genie.
Also great as The Pidgeon on "Mike Tyson Mysteries".
@lonesomecrow he played Norm the Genie
Norm the Genie!!! How did I miss that?! My daughter and I watched The Fairly Odd Parents every morning! I loved the Genie! How did I not know that was Norm McDonald??!!
Yeah he was awesome as Norm the Genie. Man I miss The Fairly OddParents. I know this might be a controversial opinion, but before it’s last couple of seasons I truly believe that it rivaled SpongeBob as the best animated show on Nickelodeon.
Funniest joke in this segment was Steve Martin saying, “I let my hair go grey! I’m going to keep it!”
yep that's what I tell myself every year, "I'm letting this happen, it's my choice to go grey"
I think it went over a lot of people’s heads. 😂
Jesus what GENIUS comedians these two are. I thank god for putting genius like this on earth.
Jimmy had no problem refusing to let Norm on the show following Norm’s take on me too. Norm deserved the opportunity to clear things up. Even The View had him on. Jimmy is a sell out. Fake. Pretentious. Jimmy lacks all the authenticity and excitement of Letterman and Conan. When one of his own was down and out, Jimmy shoved the knife In deeper. Never got over that with Jimmy. Norm deserved better.
You're goddamn right.
Wow, overwrought hyperbole much?
@My Info You're not really good at this. But I'm glad you checked my profile so that you could do research for that epic burn.
(sarcasm)
I've never understood the sellout take being a negative but anyways that said...I love Norm but he was in the middle of the storm when metoo was a thing...it happened...there are consequences to it...Norm is authentic and has my respect but he worked in hollywood...he knows the ropes and some people were gonna back away after defending certain people...that's the nature of the business
@@4seeableTV now I know the bible says judge not lest they be judge but you sound like a real jerk.
Shame on Fallon for acting as though he didn’t reject Macdonald’s scheduled appears because of woke stupidity.
They're only on here cause Conan isn't on anymore.
:'(
FALLON ABANDONED NORM WHEN HE GOT INTO A SPOT OF BOTHER.
Never forget that!
*Happy to see them both healthy & happy.* ❤
"Only murders in the building" is one of the best series on Tv right now! It's a MUST-watch! And it's already renewed for season 2!
I would like it better without the profanity. Martin and Short have the level of comedy smarts where they don't need that to be funny. I have no idea why modern script writers think profanity is mandatory...are they not capable of creating humour without it?
Steve Martin is still funny 😆. I laugh my butt off every time I watch only murders in the building. Never cried of laughter in awhile 😂😂
Steve Martin, Martin Short, and Norm all GOATS!! 🔥 Jimmy is a class-act as well!! 🔥
❤️
Jimmie is far from a class act.
Jimmy is by far the worst talk show host on air. He is fake as hell, he is not funny at all, his laugh is so forced it's almost a parody, and all he does is kiss the ass of literally every guest he has on the show no matter who they are. He is not a class act and has no business in that chair.
How is Jimmy a class act , he refused to have norm on his show because his staff was crying , he’s a coward
@@trini4204 exactly
Didn't Jimmy refuse to have him on last time he made the circuit? This guy's a real jerk!

He really likes to milk his love of Norm Macdonald. Meanwhile he cancelled his Tonight Show appearance because someone got the sniffles from reading an article about Norm. What a joke.
I love how Steve owned Jimmy’s awful hosting skills.
Let Steve host himself 🙄
Norm canceled… that was a huge loss for you and the show. I am glad Steve and Martin are acknowledging his unique and legendary comedic presence. Norm is amongst the greatest comedians! RIP!!!

The new show is fantastic! Selena is wonderful! She holds her own with these 2 legends who have known each other and worked with each other for decades. Why
I got cut off. I was just wondering why their segment was cut short? I could listen to them forever. They are so brilliant!
Steve Martin and Martin Short I’ve loved since the first time I saw them as a child on stand up and SNL.
Two geniuses and gentlemen.
Norm played a great Burt Reynolds. 💔

Martin and Short's show had the highest premiere numbers in the HISTORY OF HULU.
These two are legends. As for Fallon, the more I learn about this guy, the less I like him.
As Norm would say (after crapping all over someone for 5 minutes) ... "but he's a good man."

Okay, now do me...lol😁 Love you guys, Steve Martin, Martin Short! ❤💙💜💖💗💘
This has to be the kindest thing Fallon has ever done for Norm since banning him from his show.
I’m glad to see Norm finally getting his due. I’m sad it took his death to get there. The man was a genius that the world had never seen before and will never see again
Steve Martin has been the same age since 1979. Much like Wilford Brimley was 78 since he was 35.
Steve Martin is funnier here than he has been in years. Martin Short really brings out his best!
I love these 2 together ❤
I'm glad their show is a hit. There are a lot of great older performers and I wish Netflix would have more vehicles for great older actors and comics.
Yes, they remembered him for a whole 30 seconds...... I feel click-baited.......
Martin is one of a kind and one of my favorites! I loved him in the movie, "Pure Luck."

They didn't really do a good job of remembering him.
They're there to promote Only Murders... remembering Norm was a bit of an (obligatory) afterthought
Only Murders in the Building is excellent!!!!! Martin, your socks rock!! I just love you.

Imagine being Martin Short and Steve Martin trying to make conversation with that robot Jimmy Fallon. Must be the most exhausting thing they’ve done in decades!
Steve and Marty are just as funny as ever, and their new show is great.
Fallon backstabbed Norm.
