Think I’m gonna get that double down rod and the Shimano Curado BFS for crappie fishing with beetle spins

Honestly I’d recommend the SLX BFS (off digitaka) or Tsurinoya Dark Wolf Ultra before the Curado! I think it’s a little overpriced in terms of performance and the Curado isn’t capable of casting as light as the Dark wolf ultra, without an aftermarket spool. SLX bfs is cheaper and the same exact reel except saltwater safe bearings, if you must go with the Shimano bfs options.

What line and how much were you able to load on here comfortably?

I used around 60-70 meters of Varivas Light Game PE in 0.4 goh.

I'm in Colorado and use ultra lite spinning gear for trout. I'm wanting to switch into bfs. What would be a good reel for me to start with?

Depends on the budget! A great starter is the Tsurinoya Dark Wolf Ultra! Not too fancy but not junk. Can get it at

hi mate.. its good on cast 12g lure? micro jig 15g? or just better below 5gram? already 1 week thinking of this gekkabijin or steez ct .. most time for light cast saltwater.. the problem steez here Australia is 2019 model didn't have the hyperdrive design.. so expensive including tax if im buying new steez ct70 usa version that come with hyperdrive

This would be more for 8g or less range, I think that an SV reel would be better for you. Daiwa Coastal SV, there’s the new Alphas SV I haven’t looked, but really the SV is pretty good for light weight but not super light like bfs.

I’ve only used the SS Air TW for like 30 minutes bc I don’t own one. It’s better for the heavier end of bfs, I prefer the Gekka.
