This album was recorded 5 years before Motorhead even formed as a band. So Sabbath was pretty alone in the proto-metal world in those days, unless you count Deep Purple.
Anyone that says Ozzy can't sing should go listen to the Sabotage Album. Dude abused too many drugs and lost his voice, but he clearly was an amazing singer.
When I see a video analysis of sabbath and people aren’t losing their minds over geezer and bill ward I always wanna correct them.. Thanks for this video It’s awesome
Time to listen Black Sabbath Sabotage, and then one step back to Sabbath Bloody Sabbath, two steps back to Volume 4, then fo forward to Technical Ecstasy and Never Say Die.
Tomy Iommi once mentioned that the basic tracks for Paranoid were recorded at Regent Sound on an Ampex 440, four-track tape deck. The Regent Sounds tapes were then taken to Island Studios where the four-track tapes were then transferred to a 3M, M23 eight track-tape deck. The band then added additional overdubs (mostly guitar chorus) onto the eight-track tape. The final two-track (stereo) mixes were then created from the eight-track tape.
I don't think Tony is trying to double the solo all the time. He purposely overlaps and goes in opposite directions and heads back over and over. It's so original. Trying to figure out those solos by ear as a kid on crappy speakers was so hard!
@@jeffalleshouse9783 listening to it in 1970 paris live on yt only with one guitar Tony is really killing it but yes my feeling is this,it s like a fight of guitars like a war goes on
I was smart enough to attend there final reunion tour. At a festival where 10 great bands performed They closed the night with a magical, incredible performance. It was a religous experience
Bill god bless him, hasn't been able to play for over 25 years. In 1970 he was at his apex, a machine but by 1980 he was finished. He was able to pick up sticks, sure but never the same, I saw Sabbath in 1998 and it was awful. Shame.
He never plays the exact same fills note for note the way they are on the record. Never has. They're always just close approximations with the same vibe. That's what he meant, and it's 100% true.
Black Sabbath, Deep Purple, and Led Zeppelin. The "unholy trinity" of hard rock :) We play War Pigs live as much as we can. Gotta love having a cover band that loves great classic Rock and Roll. Thanks for the reaction!
The only way to review these older songs is on LOUDSPEAKERS... The other reaction artists listening on headphone miss the entire Wall Shaking experience, and deep tones engineered into the sounds. The sudden jolts of sound that make you feel the music. Something you can not get from headphones...
You gotta watch the 1970 Paris concert sounds just like the albums 4 people putting out raw sounds Young Ozzy sounds better live Bill Ward destroyed the drum kit LOL
Hi I really like the song, but was there anything supposed to be happening in this 14:32 regarding the reaction? No talk or breakdown about how the bass and guitar compliment each other and how the guitar has no excess low end to get in the way of the bass guitar, or how the bass guitar has a healthy aggressive middy character (precision bass) that stands out in the mix, despite the distorted guitar, and the two do not clash each other. The frequency range of the recording is quite limited to by today's standards, compression is different than today. Also, having in mind the drums were probably recorded with 4 microphones maybe, and that the toms overall sound like overtightened carpeting on a couch, the band played live, probably in one take, or maybe glued the parts on the quite hihat counting parts, and with all the limitations imposed probably by the budget (compared to Led Zep at the time) it did not hinder the fact that the magic of this band at that time could not be destroyed by the bad kick drum sound, or limited overdubs of the guitar. Almost no talk about the technical aspects of the recording. Yeah, pan is all over. Cheers!
I don't know your age or back ground but this is rock and roll I'm 60 played since I was 2'5 breaking down some things wrote a little before that time How many hits have you had? By uuu
1960s and 70s rock n roll is like ancient archeology, we have the finished product and or its pieces, but never a solid enough blue print on how it was built, we're always left up to our own theories and devices
Hello Nik, thanks a lot for the suggestion! Can't promise, but will pass that on to Dennis. Feel free to also check out his other reaction videos on our channel 😊 Best wishes
Your comment about listening in a studio environment made me wonder what your source is for music when you listen in the studio. You mentioned opening up Chrome but not where you went from there. My point is that some sources are far better than others. The amount of compression, bit rate, etc. I assume you found a good one for critical listening.

The mid 70’s was Mr Osborne at his finest.

His name is Tony

Nope alot of times theyll have another guitar playerwhen in recording studio.

Tony does this a lot on their self titled debut too. It definitely adds a unique flavor.
@@jeffalleshouse9783 Did sabbath do that? I've never heard any guest guitarists on the Ozzy albums

This song gets my vote. For being the greatest Ati-War song. That i have ever listened to.
You can actually see JOY on Dennis' face when the music starts...
That, kids, is what is called TALENT.
this incited me to reposition my speakers, 12 ft apart instead of 5
This is so interesting the breakdowns, effects, explaining the different sounds you hear, etc.
Hello Monicka,
Thanks for the feedback, happy you liked the video 🙂 Stay tuned for more!
Best wishes
I could listen to that all day
Bill Ward cant reproduce this live.. are you kidding me? Watch the live in Paris 1970 video. The entire band slays this song
I was going to say. To think Bill Ward doesn't know exactly what he's playing is freaking insane!
Bill god bless him, hasn't been able to play for over 25 years. In 1970 he was at his apex, a machine but by 1980 he was finished. He was able to pick up sticks, sure but never the same, I saw Sabbath in 1998 and it was awful. Shame.
Bill ward never played a lot of things in the same realm as he did on the recordings.

I would add Uriah Herp and UFO in that group
i noticed you actually share your surname with the drummer of this band, which i find pretty cool: definitely the right guy for this job! :)

Or jam it in the SUV…windows down…loud
Panasonic Shockwave would like a word with you.
The live in Paris version is killer

Yes, that was before they changed the lyrics.
Amazing.
Thanks dennis big fan rock on brother god bless!!!
It's like listening to a live band. ❤
Black sabbath best band ever
Ozzy even used vibrato in his voice on this but rarely again later on which is said, but I love his voice also with a lack of vibrato

love your reactions.
There's a really simple way to record srereo sound for TV. But it took the sound guys years to de - complicate things and figure it out.
Love your analysis! How about Boston???
Please don't stop the track on the drum fills.

REALLY NEAT SHIT NAILED IT ..............
Hes not trying to double the guitar parts. Theyre exactly the way he wants them. Two seperate lines. Intermingling.
Us boomers had the best music...
You need to react to some Rush🤘🏽
Hello Jose,
thanks for your suggestion.
Can't promise, but will add it to our list 😊
Best wishes
The Brits really new how to record drums! Not like the wet sock sound from LA
We want a reaction for the song"take those tears" from Pink Cream 69..

I hope you’ve listened to all ozzy era sabbath albums to realize how good ozzys voice became
Yeah! No rules back then. I whish band were like that today maybe they would be more interesting.
4:20 here he gets possessed by Ozzy’s spirit
"Reverend!!"
🍄🌲🍄✨💥🌈
Definitely overhead mics on the drums
Bill Ward does it better live..Tony does it all with one guitar.....come on, listen to their live stuff.
Motörhead and Sabbath aren’t of the same genre ...Sabbath is a heavy metal band ...Motörhead, like AC/DC , is a heavy rock band
The first album sounds better to me. More Ambient.
Only one guitar.
Hard to sing when your throat is numb!
