I feel like NA has been left behind a bit on the absolute highest level partly because of collegiate, in order to excel and be able to stay in the game in EU you have to be exceptional, Kevster Kai Sparkr Funnyastro etc. But in NA you can be just an okay player and still get tons of more opportunities to be able to play the game fulltime. NA has a large amount of mid players, EU has a few players but they are all very very good. That's not to say that NA doesn't have exceptional players (Rupal Landon tr33), just an observation. it's easier to survive in the NA ow scene, therefore they are at large a bit softer.
@@Hraesvelg no, overall the average talent in NA is bigger but EU has the outliers, the exceptional players that had to overcome all odds. Korea is just an exception because their culture is different and they are just goated at everything gaming related it seems.
@@Hraesvelg it's like in basketball, most good players are American but when a player makes it out of the slums of the Balkans to the NBA you know that they are absolutely incredible players that wouldn't have gotten any opportunity if it weren't for them being significantly above average.
@@SubwayLoveridk there’s like 2 teams that are at the level of TD and 3 that are M80 level in EMEA. I would say the average level of EMEA is higher (players like Tap, Lethal, Admiral, Ariel2(screw that guy) all thrive and are some of the best in NA despite being EU players. @@Hraesvelgyou can keep the investment while maintaining a cut throat environment. Back in the OWL, even in early seasons when the money is still there. One season of mediocrity is enough for the player to lose his entire career. Not to mention in late OWL, players are getting dropped mid season with just a month's notice. Now if you underperform in a collegiate team, what's the consequences. A stern talk from the coaches? Too much breathing room breeds complacency. If the scholarship is on the line every matches that they play. I am sure a lot more player will be more serious.
NA's drive to be the best across frankly, has been weirdly absent for a few years now. The ego is there, but not the drive. I'm speaking very generally though. These guys are very talented and I enjoyed the game.

Wow, I just now noticed the bottom right of your overlay, you were already my favorite most knowledgeable content creator about overwatch but that is next level!
Spilo, wouldn't it be a good idea to strengthen the community outside NA and EU? Like, Blizzard not only opening new servers in SA and Asia in general but also making new regional tournments? I see lots of content creators and discord comunities having their own tournments, their own teams but nothing grows bc theres is a lack of Blizzard interest in here (it feels like at least). Maybe more servers, incentivising local or national teams, hosting some international leagues over here... Do you have an opinion in this or could you share a though or two in a video maybe, please? I love your work dude🙏
FACEIT League is kinda doing that atm although its only gonna be one per year. There was recently a tournament in SA and Australia and OWCS obviously has Japan and pacific (With Japan hosting tons of standalone tournaments)
Hey, very interesting video, love your content as always. I'm a bit late, I wasn't 100% focused on OW2 at this time, what was the purpose of increasing all heroes hp? I feel like the damage also got increased, but no enough to compensate right? So this allow a health bare a bit more "precise" and especially a slower game, maybe less frustrating?
Ajax was a Lucio player in Contenders that died or had his Lucio beat canceled multiple times in a single game. So any time a Lucio beat doesn't activate when trying to use it, it's called an Ajax.
Spilo your thoughts ? I was thinking with the counter swap issue , why not make it so you may only swap when you have your ult ? This willl be strategy , you either use ult or switch
Disregarding how that would make characters like tracer more flexible and tanks less, which they havent balanced around, that change would make it so shit teams could roll out on a really specific hyper counter composition and beat the best teams in the world if they get lucky. Hyper counter comp wins 3 fights before enemy team gets all 5 ults and can swap and the moment they swap the other team runs back to spawn and swaps to another counter. Ironically enough it would make the whole game about swapping heroes.
@@stevenwier1783 I think it be good and help tanks out . I legit tried tank again played dva , was 20-1 all sudden while teams goes counter , I know it’s a format issue with the 5v5 but counter swapping when playing tank is horrible . No other role really needs to swap

Point is interesting but it would suggest that investing less in sport would be a great way to grow talent.

I'm actually curious but what does "pulling an Ajax" mean? Ik he's a Lucio player but never have actually seen him play before
Ajax was a Lucio player in Contenders that died or had his Lucio beat canceled multiple times in a single game. So any time a Lucio beat doesn't activate when trying to use it, it's called an Ajax.
Then the term extended to other characters so ajax became the death during ult cast term
