seeing this brings back memories when during my second year as a truck driver, I was doing morning/evening shift and delivering goods to "opening soon" mall (it seemed so incomplete when I was bringing stuff in) and the fact I would load in, then do the delivers, had cup of coffee before would move to next route. currently am working on day/evening shift which is far easier for me, mostly doing pickups for truck spare parts etc. despite how day starts 11 am for me and finishes around 7-8 pm local time, its still better for me than early morning.

It’s weird how every state has its own way of working , I work for Pepsi out in CA LA area and it’s different, we don’t hook up trailers, we ready once we arrive at the yard , and nobody really has an all bulk route it a mixture of all chain stores and gas stations 711 and liquor store , drops and break downs. If your union you don’t merchandise any store no matter where you deliver to.
I was wondering . A lot of the newer trucks are automatic . When you go to take the driven test, do they make you learn and take the test in a manual ? I have been driving a manual most of my life, but I know and realize a semi is a lot different .
Firstly, Day Cab trucks have been automatic a long while now. It just wasn’t necessary to have a manual truck to do light duty/local moves. Automatics are FAR more economical for many reasons. Although some of the newer long haulers/Sleepers have automatic options, truckers tend to like the manuals for control of power. Which is in my opinion, just a placebo. I think most CDL school will start you on a manual. Not because of preference, but because a vast majority of trucks are manual. Plus, their little fleet for training is going to be older and most likely manual.
Should look into LTL trucking companies. They pay great and have weekends off plus holidays. I do Linehaul at my company which is night shift but I make 0.77 a mile. Then our P&D drivers are getting $32.75 a hour and that’s day shift. Other LTL companies pay different rates but I love being in this industry! Use to do coke but didn’t get the chance to do bulk much.

i am applying in Duluth Minnesota i have my cpl already do they train with a manual thinking about going strait to them instead of going to the collage witch i have grants for is it worth it or should i get my cdl first?
I would get CDL first that way you can jump right in… if they give you the CDL you’ll be riding with someone and it’ll take much longer. They are automatic trucks here

Use to drive for Pepsi when it was 80% Returnables. Where you go into the stores and unload the trucks yourself, wheel it in and then stock the shelves. You got it made. AVERITT Express? No way. Stay where you are. Hard to see that at your age. Just my opinion.
I agree, if it came down to it I would do it I did it for three weeks and enjoyed the workout it’s def not something I would want to do long term that’s for sure.
6:30 Looks like your turn signal was wrong Do you do pre-trip inspection? In case you don't know what that is, it's when you do an air brake test, when you check the engine for leakings, your tires, and other things so you stay safe when driving. I'm not a trucker but other truck drivers and trucking channels say that

I worked for MEI CORP Pepsi from 72 to 84....I get a monthly Pension check...drove an 18 wheeler most of the time to warehouses out of town.

Most companies are all automatic man! Even during school

What’s the difference in hours working retail vs bulk? I know one is 4 days on the other is 5 days on. Which one pays more?
They both pay the same and retail typically works 9-10 hours a day!
