sofia is a wonderful city, i lived about 6 years in the center of sofia it was full of life now am in amman - jordan & i hope to be back to sofia again .
I am really so happy about the fact that in spite of some stupid nationalistic disputes of the past, Greece and Bulgaria, greeks and bulgarians are now such closed to each other and such good friends! I am looking forward to visiting Sofia soon, i am sure i'm gonna love it. Love and best regards from Athens my friends!

I grow regularly frustrated with Sofia and the mindset of a lot of people in it so I let my frustrations out in public which I obviously should not have done. Most of the time I do enjoy living in Sofia and I can say that no 1 has ever done me any harm. 2 b honest, most of the time I am the 1 telling BGs that their country is not as bad as they make it out to be. Its good to see the BGs on this thread stand up for their country.
I love Sofia beyond reason but I get mixed feelings when I go back there now: I'm happy to be back but it's sad to see all the beggars and stray dogs on the streets next to all the shinny new cars, malls and casinos ... lots and lots of casinos. People have always been welcoming, kind and fun now there's a lot of bitterness in the air. How about the university of sofia?i may go there to study..i had some doubts about the beauty of the town but now they are gone hehe..what about the people who are living there are they good?i dont wanna offended you im just asking

I'm an expat currently living in Sofia. There is so much there that needs fixed. I have never seen a dirtier city in my life. Its terrible. there is rubbish all over the streets, stray dogs on every corner. It seems like people there just dont give a fuck. I am sorry to say this.

@niokotta Most of the municipalities in Bulgaria dont have the ability to make their own budgets thought they are required to. so the taxes payed in Sofia (and few other bigger cities) are used to back the finances of the rest therefore Sofia dont have enough money to do its job like fixing streets for the millions of cars most of witch arent from Sofia. There are a lot of people who are both Turks and Bulgarians, the history can show you why.

Yes, It seems like our countries are on opposite sides of the spectrum. Mine a shining light in a continent full of problems and yours an eye sore in a continent which is fully developed. Perhaps our countries are on the wrong continents??
