Considering the Prodigy is about the same price with higher capacity, red dot installed and a railed frame... Kimber is about 10 years late on this archaic pistol.
Kimber? Does it actually work with a durable coating? Or does it work part of the time with contaminated metal that rusts after a year with a coating that flakes off?
I got a brand new Kimber super carry pro hd and a super carry custom hd in a trade. Both couldn't get through a magazine without jamming. And the black coating could be scratched of with my fingernail. I sold them off. For $1600 guns they should have worked out of the box and held up better.

The choiche to make it in stainless low glare for the main parts is perfect for civillians / LE. 🇮🇹
Sadly, the stainless look is Kim-Pro. One of the worst finished in the industry. Many reports of first day at the range and the finish is already coming off!
Excited to see another 2011 style gun come to market only downside being is not taking 2011 mags. Would be nice for the cheaper price point 2011’s to utilize 2011 mags for people who down the road upgrade and go towards other guns but can still use mags.
Very excited to see more double stack 9mm 1911s. But at this stage, proprietary mags are going to stop this before it starts. Nobody wants to buy $100 STI mags, especially when you have companies like Oracle and stealth arms using $20 tried and true options from Glock and SIG. Even at $40 for a Wilson combat or CMC is doable, but that's what I paid for single stack 8rd .45 mag from Kimber, so these are going to be more expensive than that.
Dude the gun isn't out yet, we don't know what the mag prices are going to be. As for the Oracle, the mags are like 45-55 bucks. STI mags are 70-100. Dan Wesson DWX and Wilson mags are in a similar category as the P320 mags as well. There are plenty of properiety mags on the market. As long as Kimber keeps them in a reasonable price range, they will be fine.
So a couple things: - You can find "2011" mags for less than $100 - note that these mags are not proprietary. Staccato is not the only company that makes them. The Duramags that come with the Prodigy retail for $60-65, but I consistently see them for $35 and that includes the 20 rounder. - Proprietary mags are a pain in the butt, but if you make a great gun, people may look past that. Prime example is Bul Armory. Everybody is raving about that DS 1911 and say it's the true Staccato killer. But it takes proprietary mags.
John Browning MADE a 9mm double stack 1911! (He did it in 1935). The ORIGINAL WONDER NINE. It's called Browning high power. (Only upgrade needed is the double action -- oh, that's a cz75) lol....
Looks really awesome tbh. Not something I’d ever consider carrying but more of a fun range toy for a 9mm purist that’s interested in the 1911/2011 system. Looks like Kimber wants to take a bite out of the EDCX9 market
