Kimber! When you need a pretty paper weight lol. I owned one Kimber and it was probably the worse gun, jammed after 2-3 cycles. They only give one mag so work on accuracy lol. To top it off, I lost $100 just trying to get rid of it. $1000 paper weight. My $500 Sig 365 sas eats everything and hasn’t jammed once. I always say, 2/3 of the cost is the brand name you pay for.

@@W1ckedRcL There is no pistol on this planet worth the cost of a rifle. Allowing companies to comparatively price technically and proficiently inferior products to others products of higher technicality and proficiency, is the reason why we have companies like Kimber charging $1,500 for something a $500 pistol can do, or Knights charging $3,000 for something a $1,000 rifle can do. Price should have correlation to rarity and efficiency in its category, not “coolness” and implied value. I get it, you don’t have to buy it, it’s a free market, that doesn’t make it right. This effect trickles to uniforms, Crye charging $500 for a shirt, Arcteryx charging $1,000 for a jacket lol the “tactical” industry is a sham and we are all getting scammed.

    -no firing pin safety
-remove grip safety (only neeed manual safety, hard and ambidextrous)
-well checked barrel timing with high quality pivoting link (forged will be nice).
-keep 1911/2011 compatibility for small parts, guys shoot multi brands.
-it would be nice to have the same magazines of Wilson Combat double stack.
The choiche to make it in stainless low glare for the main parts is perfect for civillians / LE.

Very excited to see more double stack 9mm 1911s. But at this stage, proprietary mags are going to stop this before it starts. Nobody wants to buy $100 STI mags, especially when you have companies like Oracle and stealth arms using $20 tried and true options from Glock and SIG. Even at $40 for a Wilson combat or CMC is doable, but that's what I paid for single stack 8rd .45 mag from Kimber, so these are going to be more expensive than that.

    • @Osprey1994
      @Osprey1994 Рік тому +2

Dude the gun isn't out yet, we don't know what the mag prices are going to be. As for the Oracle, the mags are like 45-55 bucks. STI mags are 70-100. Dan Wesson DWX and Wilson mags are in a similar category as the P320 mags as well.
There are plenty of properiety mags on the market. As long as Kimber keeps them in a reasonable price range, they will be fine.

      So a couple things:
      - You can find "2011" mags for less than $100 - note that these mags are not proprietary. Staccato is not the only company that makes them. The Duramags that come with the Prodigy retail for $60-65, but I consistently see them for $35 and that includes the 20 rounder.
      - Proprietary mags are a pain in the butt, but if you make a great gun, people may look past that. Prime example is Bul Armory. Everybody is raving about that DS 1911 and say it's the true Staccato killer. But it takes proprietary mags.

Awesome and some serious competition to Wilson combat,
I'd like to see Kimber come out with a carry option that deletes the manual safety,
There's plenty of single action pistols with light short triggers that have no manual safety,
This is something plenty of people want and Wilson don't offer it so maybe Kimber will fancy having the only 1911 style carry pistol with no manual safety,
They could do what smith and wesson done and put a trigger safety bar into the trigger,
That would be a perfect all metal modern double stack 1911 style carry gun with all the new upgrades and no manual safety plus it's not $3000+.

Seems pretty clear they're aiming at the Wilson Combat SFX9/EDC X9 with this design, but at less than half the price. Wish it had a light rail, though...

Looks cool and the concept is awesome, but... It's a Kimber. You'll have more luck winning the lottery than getting a full magazine through this thing without a malfunction.

I got a brand new Kimber super carry pro hd and a super carry custom hd in a trade. Both couldn't get through a magazine without jamming. I sold them off as well. For $1600 guns they should have worked out of the box.

A great video and pistol. Is it possible to have the double stack 1911 in the .45ACP?

Springfield Prodigy killer? I guess it depends on its reliability. Nice presentation Hop.

the kimber is kinda known for needing too much maintenance to run reliably

    Has to be under 1500.
Anything north of that and people will just get a Stacatto.
All of these companies are trying to cash in on the Stacatto market, but other than Bul Armory I have not seen any that were close in quality.
The LFA APollo looks very promising at under 1K!

Tempting at that price. Wanna here about reliability first though. Kimbers I’ve had were super accurate but jammed often.

I heard the same thing ... I was interested in a Kimber about 2 years ago but was steered away because I was told reliability was a concern ...

That's what I've had too lately. Almost over-engineered for accuracy to a point it doesn't work half the time.

I used to think the same thing after I read and heard the same things; but in my experience, I've never had a jam between either 1911 by Kimber I've shot in 45 or 9.

Bought a Kimber 45 many years ago. Beautiful gun. Shot like an absolute piece of crap. Feed jams. Stove Pipes. Shells ejecting to hit me between the eyes. Sold it after one month. Will NEVER buy another over priced piece of junk like that.

What's this gun for? It's too big to EDC and no rail for a light so it's not for bedroom gun?
