    I'm late to reviewing this oven, since it was released months ago. But I happened to purchase a bunch of other ovens before the announcement and my wife would have killed me if I bought another. But enough time has passed, and I placed the order.
    And I'm in love with this newly redesigned Ooni Karu 12G. If you follow my other videos, you know I love the Karu 16 for its ability to cook a wide range of pizzas all at pro levels (without hindering performance for one type).
    This Ooni Karu 12G is like a mini clone. Neapolitans bake the same; the door is great (actually improved a bit over the 16) for windy or cold days; and changing fuel types takes seconds.
    When comparing performance to cost, this pizza oven is a game changer. I know I wouldn't want any other 12" oven over this.

    I just want to do a bit of damage control here before people say "what about the Roccbox??". And let me just say, if it were a battle for best Neapolitan, yes I'd still take the Roccbox. I still recommend that for people who only want to make Neapolitan. But it's nowhere near as good at baking a bread flour-based dough (NY style). This new 12G is just an incredibly well-rounded oven at a very appealing price point.

    I don’t get the Roccbox crowd. If your stone breaks you’re screwed. Who wants to drill rivets out just to replace a stone. I know they will replace it under warranty but what about after. Looks like a pain. The Kari series looks like a better compromise to be able to cook both styles.

    What’s the recovery time on the Karu 12g? The Solo Pi Prime cooks great pizza but the recovery time between pizzas is long. Like 10-15 mins long.

    My Karu 12g with gas attachement is a real soot producer! Cleaning it is a big mess and im looking like the inside of a chimney myself. It ruins my pizzzas too, pieces of soot falling down the seiling on the pizza. I use it with the chimney open and the door open as well.

    I love your reviews and I have used them extensively to figure out what I should get, Im tossing up between this or the Gozney Roccbox. Is there a reason why you rank this a spot lower than the roccbox despite you saying this is just as good as the 16 and rank that above the Roccbox?

    I love your videos. They were instrumental in helping choose which oven was best for me. I just placed an order for the Ooni Koda, and I'm excited to start experimenting with poolish and NY style doughs. Now I'm looking for where to source the best ingredients, and I was wondering what kind of pepperoni you use in this video? The cup and char look so ideal!

      Thank you! I'm itching to get my hands on that one. I used the slightly larger Alfa One (wood fired) a while back. The Alfa team reached out wanting me to review the new Moderno but then went radio silent. I'll look into buying one in the Spring to do a video on.
