Trying something completely different for this video-I thought it might be interesting to show my mixing and mastering process in realtime! For the mostpart this video is uncut, so you’ll get a feel for my process and overall workflow. Let me know if you’d like more videos like this!
I like this. I also would like to know more about your panning proccess.
Hi Zach, this is definitively a very interresting approach. I am not too fan to boost frequency, I prefer to cut some but it sounds good here. To answer your point : yes, you can do more of this kind of video. Thanks a lot !
I really like this type of content! really interesting to see this, keep up the good work
Thank you so much for this tutorial, Zach! I just discovered your channel and it's incredibly helpful.
Wow! Amazing! I love how you made it sound so natural and real compared to the beginning!
Thank you! Helping me so much right now!
So glad to hear it!!
GREAT SHOW....I found it helpfull and enjoyable to watch. Thanks very muchy.
def make more of THIS.
Thank you so much for uploading this! Very very useful👍
So glad to hear it!
Awesome dude, I love the Coplandish touches.
This is so fun to watch, keep going!
Just found your channel, that was great!! Just trying to get into using Orchestral VST’s and the MIX was killing me. Thanks for the tips, can’t wait to try them out. Do you have a list of your fav VSTs for orchestral?
5 years ago? Wow still a good video.
Please do more.
Hi Zach ! It's interesting to see you at work. Well, i don't understand how you obtain your track "room tone". And do you use a first reverb in your programming session before your mix ? I work with EW spaces directly in my template. Is it a good solution ? Thanks for all these exciting videos.👍
Great job with arguably the best pop song ever. Will we get to hear the entire finished product?
btw saw Brian Wilson perform this for Pet Sounds' 50th anniversary @ Hollywood Bowl. Very poignant, esp. with Carl and Dennis both gone, and Brian barely able to sing anymore.
p.s. i find these types of videos endlessly fascinating and look forward to each one!

0:24 Sorry for the Confucius? :D :D :D
Love your work, for real!
Hello, I wanted to ask you a question about the monitor, mix movie orchestra music, are Yamaha hs7 or ns10 better for it? And what's better for mixing music? I have seen a lot of different opinions on the internet and that is why I am interested in something else. I have yet to buy monitors but I don't know exactly which one for this genre. Otherwise the studio will be in some mediocre room.
Heya! So I use Yamaha HS5s and they've served me well over the years, I can't speak on the other two models but ideally you want balance as opposed to power... your room will also have a very large impact on the sound, so be sure to do some additional research on where to place speakers in your space. Another simple workaround--though slightly less ideal--is to mix with a solid pair of headphones if your room situation is less than ideal. I actually do both--I mix on SONY MDR-7506 headphones, then check the balance on my Yamaha HS5s, then check the mix on some commercial speakers (Bose), iPhone headphones, and lastly the car speakers. You want your mix to sound as good on ALL listening devices as possible, so periodically switch up your method for comparison! Hope that helps :)
Great video! I always learn so much seeing another’s process. What libraries are you using?
Thanks Sam! In this video I was using EastWest Hollywood Winds, 8dio Century Solo Brass, LA Scoring Strings, Complete Classical Collection, and Alicia's Keys Piano :) Thanks for watching!
How do you copy the audio efect? What is the comand?
Pezolaga To copy plugins between channel strips, hold option and command as you drag it in the mixer! :)
Late to the party, but what a glorious song…

Did you consciously need to focus on not having a “gamer face”, or do you just naturally not look completely outta this world (like me) when focusing on a screen?
HAH, definitely a little of both--I only catch myself when my neck is killing me from leaning in! ;)
