Shirokolistvennyi and Xie Shan Satsuma Mandarin - Unboxing New Trees

Unboxing two new citrus trees we just received from Madison Citrus Nursery. Shorokolistvennyi Satsuma Mandarin and Xie Shan Satsuma Mandarin.

I had the chance to taste the Xie Chan right off the tree that was planted in the ground from Simply Citrus Nursery during the Citrus Expo 2023 in Columbia. Absolutely great tasting flavor.

@@tdhomestead just protect the root zone with mulch and the graft junction with pipe insulation.
The canopy can always recover if root and graft is protected.

I have a small in ground Xie Shan mandarin. First fruits were not that good but it is a really small tree. Should improve with age.

I am hoping it will fruit earlier than some of the others so will be less need to protect fruit from freeze.
