They were created for the Namekians to help the universe, when a Namekians arrived to a new Inhabited planet they would create dragon balls as a thank you to that species for welcoming them, as a reward for a good person, as dream of a peaceful future. And as long as one Namekian remains, the species can always return, because now matter how many tyrants, monsters and demons threaten the world, the flame of hope, The wish of a peaceful future will remain! Before a poweful and sociopathic Saiyan who only cares about strength, I will always choose a Namekian, who dreams, a Namekian who protects…….A Namekian who *wishes* for a better world!
Regardless of it's finale, the Namek saga really felt like a journey. Perhaps the best saga in all anime. And Faulconers' music compliments the awe very well.

I never got around to watching it completely until around high school. You must have a lot of nostalgia since you were watching them as they came out in the moment! I am jealous.
