I've played UT since 2012 and never has the build up play been so horrendous as it is in this game. Your players just stand there instead of exploiting space. Some games it feels like a miracle if I get near the opponent's penalty area because it is so insanely difficult to do proper build up with your players.

He is so right. I played probably 35 games to get 7 wins because my players re just so clueless in the attack and give me no options. And when I defend I tackle them and the ball bounces back to his player for a shot right at the keeper which he pushes into the net when he can catch it

The biggest problem for me, is thta you open youtube, twitter, anything, You will find 1000x videos on best meta tactics, best ways to score, best meta, "YOU NEED TO USE THIS BROKEN MECHANIC IF YOU WANNA WIN MORE GAMES"

I played against both my brother in laws, they're 30+, with kids, they play this game once or twice per week, they dont watch youtube videos about it. And the games were SOOOO DIFFERENT.

It’s EA’s job to ensure that isn’t the case. Having broken “Meta” tactics in itself isn’t an issue, so long as there are multiple options which add more dynamics to the game.
The main thing about this game that is broken is the press. People use tactics, like 71 depth, for constant pressure which allows for no build up, and the midfield become almost as congested as the defence, EA needs to add a counter to that, or remove any pressing to the oppositions defence.
They are also able to remove cutbacks by altering attacking ai runs in the box. Forcing you to go through the middle more or cross it in. If people can’t score goals by running to the bi line, they will stop doing it, and will be forced to break down the opposition defence before finding an opening, which you can do on this, if you can break through the ridiculous press
this is why they should just get rid of custom tactics, many people have said it, it just ruins the game.

for the FIRST TIME in fifa history, you have a better chance to win each game if you DONT HAVE THE BALL. Just let them have it, press and pick off the ball and counter, having possession is actually a disadvantage

because people won't buy a game without all the licenses. the licenses for all the teams, stadia, player likenesses etc. are all insanely expensive and cost tens of millions a year. Nobody but some mega monster corporation like EA has enough money to pay all those licenses and still make a game.

In theory, the gamemodes, sbc, objectives, teambuilding are amazing.
Problem is, they dont fix the game but isntead bring in certain mechnaicd to counter their mistakes.
Example; goal keeper movement. It is there because goalkeepee animations in past fifas where really really bad and instead if fixing goalkeepers, they implement goalkeeper movement to able to say "oh you conceded be ause you sick at the game, not because we programmed it like sh*t.
Ngl, as someone who took a break from FUT, and played just career mode for the past few years, it is true. I don't remember gameplay being so bad, you feel punished for trying to build up and not exploiting the game, its disgusting.

I think in 10 years time EA is finished, they don't realize the reason people keep buying their game is because there is no reasonable alternative with modern physics yet. The moment there is however, a large portion of the user base will instantly drop this trash company.

I played my 1st games today and that was exactly what I was thinking, “why isn’t anyone moving” I didn’t add any tactics just to see how the players react and it’s just horrible, I might stick with PES this year. I downloaded the 10hr trial just to test it this year, I don’t know if I’m going to buy this game this year, they are treating this game like the switch version we might as well only have had teams and kit updates

why going in the middle is not rats while using flanks is being rats. I don’t understand the logic here. In real life games, teams using switches, running from behind in flanks all the times to counter high pressure. I just watched PL game today in which Hotspurs both goals came from high pressure and both interceptions came from a long pass by Fulham at their own half. I watched the whole game to see how Fulham tried to break the high pressure and many times, the attackers have to keep a fair amount of distance to try to make more spaces on the pitch. What is talked about here so called attacking AI movement is just tic tac tactic that can be explored with different combinations of adjustments using dynamic tactics. I tried those today and they worked. Btw, I can always find ways to break down high pressure in the game utilizing mid field by passing the ball in a right way and using proper tactic options. It is stigmatizing when this binary statement is used about what to do is right in football. I can understand the frustrations when I first played FIFA 2023 as it feels so different than its older gens that I played like FIFA 13 cause back then, you don’t get to control other players other than AI does the job for you. I think the modern football also evolved. The game has changed in real life too. Anyways, I just have a different opinion than this. That’s it. And I don’t think everyone who keeps playing this game is addicted. To me, it is like playing chess. I love it. That’s it. Beating stronger teams give me a sense of accomplishment. Rewards are not that attractive to me.

Most multiplayer gaming has gone down a similar path, i think it is part due to 'New Meta' content and part due to gaming companies understanding this 'Hot fix' business model that artificially extends the games life cycle.

nah fortnite is still good. i play cod since near my birth and it’s became dead to me since mw 2019. fortnite relies mostly on skill, there a few issues but honestly i have a lot of fun playing it and i don’t get salty or rage over losing or dying just cause i know it’s cause he’s better than me. creative also keeps the game alive. fifa is shit and cod is shit. i used to have so much fun on cod best game ever and then mw2019 came around and all these guys started slide canceling and camping using shotguns with dragons breath etc etc it’s so dead to me. just meta rats on both fifa and cod who enjoy being scum of the earth

The reason people just run down the wing is because they know that even if they get tackled the ball will go out for their throw in at worst. It’s been about 30 years and fifa still haven’t found a way to create a tackle that wins the ball back.

I always laugh so much at Inception's reactions but he is speaking facts. Yesterday afternoon I was playing Rivals and I lost count in 1 game how many times I did nothing but 1 pass, switch, 1 pass, switch and so on because there is absolutely zero space and no where else to pass with the press. It's literally so boring but you have no choice if you want a chance at not losing with this dumbass broken game.
I play at the highest level of football for my age, and I 100% agree. You can’t play football anymore. Jonathan David once in a while might be able to get around a defender and score in the top corner, but 99/100 times the defensive AI will tackle him without my opponent even pressing a button. In matches, when a striker gets the ball on the edge of the box, as a centre back, I have 10 different outcomes to think about. If I give the ball to my striker in that exact place in this game, nothing will happen, because I can’t move him 1 inch without Varane getting the ball, his teammates can’t make runs that U11 players could to give an option, and all I can do is pass the ball back to my fullback or lose it. Tbh I might only play Squad Battles from now on.
I hate to admit but the guy is right. Inception is completely right. I had hope of the game being a better experience and yes I’ve packed several great players but I have already lost my interest in playing FC 24. And it’s been just weeks since it came out. But it’s just fucking crap. It’s absolutely crap. Because everyone is doing the same run like a headless chicken down the wing and cut back passes. That’s fucking idiotic. It pisses me off. I play 1-2 matches and I get mad and quit playing because of this crap.

The game is definitely in a state but the community is at the heart of it. So much of the FIFA/EAFC community is built on toxicity and exploiting the game. Day one of release and there are UA-cam tutorials on glitches to give you an advantage over your opponent. EA could genuinely make an incredible game and the community would find a way to break it and exploit something to ruin the experience. Most online game communities are like this now it's not just FIFA. I gave up playing COD for this exact reason. No matter how good a new COD is the people you have to play it against make the entire game experience miserable.

But we have to cycle back to why? Because EA have created a game that solely values wins. There is no repeatable gameplay grind. It’s all game capped, time capped and rewards wins over anything else. You can’t create an insatiable appetite for packs and rewards, place the biggest packs and rewards behind winning and the surprise pikachu face when the hardcore players abuse game mechanics with a win at all cost mentality.
@@JoshXLs Yeah of course I'm not defending EA in any way they are a disgrace of a company who for the money they make should be putting in alot more effort to make the player base happy. I get the reason for people fighting their arse off to win in champs cuz that's supposed to be the competitive mode. There is absolutely no reason for the same mentality in rivals though. Rivals should be the more chilled out game mode where you can go and just have a fun game but the way people go about game it's impossible to do that.
I get what you're saying and it's definitely true. For someone like me who isn't amazing at FIFA, I need to use all meta cards, tactics, cheese, and exploits to even compete with people because everyone is already using them. Unfortunately, I only have fun playing competitive games like FIFA when I win so I always try to use whatever is the absolute meta in the game to do so. It is what it is.

Played against someone one who scored in the first 10 mins of the game and just started switching the ball from full back to full back for the rest of the half. Literally with constant pressure and I couldn’t get the ball back. Couldn’t even pause to quit the game, had to stick around until first half ended lol

This is my first FIFA game in 15 years, and it’s so soul crushing… I played soccer at a fairly high level in real life and actual good ball does not win you games, it’s so frustrating. The fact that no one makes runs unless you force them to is WILD. Half the time you call for runs and only the wing runs line and everyone in the center stays marked. It FORCES you to only run line rather than playing to Mid, and spreading the field or playing to mid to catch the wing on a break. Half your passes could be weighted PERFECTLY and the defender 8 feet behind you is still able to press around you and steal the pass, or even better they call their other 2 defenders in and force a 1-3 on the ball and you physically have no escape, something that would almost NEVER happen in a real game unless the offense was super bunched. Every match has to be an absolute line running/skill move/cutback sweat fest. You can’t play smart, controlled, pass focused ball unless you’re playing an absolute dumpster

This is my first year buying the game at release so im relatively new to the game. Makes me feel a bit better knowing its not just us newbs that cant get their players to come for support or run into open space. Everytime i try to run through the mid or down the line w a slightly slower player theres 4 guys on ball and no one on my team trying to intelligently support.

To defend I follow the guy to the line to prevent further cutbacks then I just switch to the centre once they’re close to the box to man mark everyone inside so yes it is very ratty this year. Hardly any reward for good vision this year too.

At this point i dont believe they will build a decent AI for good so like always there will be something they call "hotfix", but they might as well just remove pressure tactics if they cant code an AI (Deflections and R1 sprint abuse should be easily fixable imo, they just wont). The problem is this is STILL a broken FIFA 17 reskin. The junior programmers are ea don’t understand how to fix or improve anything in the actual gameplay. They’re working with a legacy script they don’t totally understand. Until they build a new game it will only get worse

To stay out of stress, I actually go back to play Squad Battle for some objective rewards. I usually don't play SB, I am a usual D3 player with around 10 wins in Fut Champ Final.
But you KNOW WHAT!? AI this year is crazy, I took on Professional level with a weaker team mashed up for objectives. The AI press and Sliding tackle are on another level this year. You can't pass, you can't dribble, or keep possession. If you are winning 1 ahead. The DDA will score you no matter what in the last few minutes. I was like, bro seriously? Do I have to play Extra time with SB?
For me to score? I have to swap in Cr7 to spam Power Shot. If not, you have no way to go inside the box or score against those AI defends with sliding tackle without a Red card for AI.

I've had the funniest match yesterday. I lost 3:2 with statistics 2 shots of my opponent against 12 of mine.
It was hilarious tbh - one year ago I would probably was extremely angry. But it is current state of this game.
Honestly I feel like this is the first year that I am not alone with the gameplay issues. The kick off goals and whole build up play is the worst of any year. I am in Division 2 and It is not fun to play, I love playing a narrow formation but its just not viable at the higher divisions. To be honest I am having to tweak tactics every Division I got into to try and compete. It is a little annoying when you have a set up that was working well and then you go into a higher division and your back to square one again. It is a very predatory loop and I wish it wasn't like this.
So the real life football. You play and adjust the tactics all the times. Why do you expect to stick to one style of play. I don’t understand. The modern football is also actually drifting slowly away from narrow and tic tac tactics. Look at Germany in recent year, it was just not working for them for that sort of system of ground passing oriented play style. High pressure is also very recent in modern football where the attacking team has to do lots of switches and play wider.

@danielcao606 Yeah no just no. They should just remove custom tactics because it is way too broken. You have to understand that EA are assholes who do not seek to improve the gameplay but to make it more predatory year after year. With their matchmaking and scripting.
Fifa 09 was better gameplay as they didn't have dynamic scripting yet or skill based match making. They hadn't truly realised how to manipulate players to spend more money.

@@lukemills8287 100% agree. Last year I was able to play the game on 50/50 balanced, I'd eat some loses but I was playing the way I want to play. This year it's so fuking painfully boring because of how derivative tactics make the game & the inability of the attacking A.I. to really counter them. I have no choice no but to constantly switch play with long balls from fullback to fullback until some small bit of space opens up because these attackers are capable of not only closing down but they tackle like Prime Maldini's. One rebound/deflection/slow animation and you're done. Seriously this game has regressed so far backwards to the point where releases from nearly 10 years ago did certain things better.

The biggest problem with the dev team for the fifa games is they never do anything significant with the updates. You are relatively playing the same game for a year. Same gameplay, same everything. It literally took a whole new game to update something like the fut champions structure, rivals, or even chemistry system. Other games can get big updates, which completely change how the game plays

The truest thing ever said is that this game feeds on your addiction. When i played, I remember not wanting to play other games because I was worried how behind I would be in this game. Whether it be with rewards, games played etc. This game demands your attention on a daily basis and sucks if you don't give it that. And when you do give it your full attention... it still sucks because you play a bunch of rats who exploit the shitty game mechanics.
I also struggled at the begining of this game going 12-8 into my first weekend league with solid team. What happened in that first weekend? I played my classic attacking 4-1-2-1-2 formation which usually brought me 17-3 almost all the time in Fifa 23, and I got destroyed in defence and could not attack/build up from the middle of the pitch which was my biggest strength. I then switched to 4-2-3-1 which I find the most balanced and stable formation in the game (played this formation in Fifa 20), and got back to 17-3 this weekend doing all this shit what was mentioned in this video with cutback and stuff. This is something I find extremely boring as I don't enjoy the game as before(even though I had mental breakdowns like all of us). Time will come soon when people including me will realize that this is really 'broken' game and switch to something else, hopefully much better than EA

Well it is big issue, you always want to win but sadly this year is probably time you need to be ‘best rat’ outhere🤣 But let’s be real, I don’t take game that much personally. The issue is, when you get used to it, playing it for such amount of years that somehow you’re always afraid of losing out and that stuff. EA are mental masters in that kind of sense what they made and it is hard to battle it for most of people, including myself I admit, but my level of that is nowhere near what I see from other people ,spending those amounts of money, going out crazy breaking everything etc etc

I thought it was just me… It’s so easy to read what the attack is going to be but somehow they still score every single time. This game is the jammiest game I’ve ever played it feels fake

I get what he is saying but my players seem to make some runs down the middle, but it is so annoying when the opposition just run down the line and cut back, It makes us feel like we have suddenly become terrible at defending. To me it seams that the best formations for attacker runs are ones with 2 strikers and a CAM so that you can play passes in triangle so that there is an opening that your strikers simply cannot refuse.
I'm so glad I didn't buy this game and this video has convinced me I was right and not to give in and buy it later in the season. My mental health has definitely improved.
