- Made up of over forty islands and cays, with only eight being inhabited, the name Turks is derived after the indigenous Turk's Head "fez" cactus and the name Caicos is a Lucayan term cay hico, meaning string of islands.
The islands are geographically part of the southeastern Bahamas archipelago and is actually on a plateau of limestone that plummets to over 8,000 ft.
The abysmally deep, 22-mile-wide Columbus Passage separates the Turks Islands from the Caicos Islands, thus forming an ideal area for the movement of migrating humpback whales to the Silver Bank in winter. This topography also enables some of the most awesome wall dives along Grand Turk and Salt Cay with infinite visibility.
With over 230 miles of white-sand beaches and captivating blue water, the Turks and Caicos Islands is as beautiful above as it is underwater. The main diving areas are located on the Northwest Point, West Caicos, Grace Bay, Grand Turk and Salt Cay.
Turks & Caicos scuba diving is truly some of the best on the planet!
That place is amazing I'm going again this sunday
You would enjoy the diving there especially West Caicos. Dramatic walls and lots of sharks and large pelagics. Take a GoPro with you!!!
I'm headed there next week. I've never SCUBA'd before and this video has my heart pounding. I'm excited and nervous at the same time.
We just returned from a week aboard the Turks and Caicos Explorer Venture II liveabaord. It was awesome. I hope you have fun!!!
@Ryanboz1...you would NOT be disappointed diving West Caicos. It's certainly worth the long ride out. The wall diving is just dramatic. So many sharks! Have fun.
Awesome video.
Ok thanks for the info!
Still one of the best dive videos ever!
Loving this video....psyched for my next dive....it's been way too long!!
Just two more weeks! Can't wait!
Thank you. Hopefully I will return to Provo this year.
Just got back from there in May. Unfortunately didn't make it out to West Caicos but there isn't a bad dive there! Other than reef sharks there are nurse sharks. That's the only kind that I heard of/ saw being there. Sharks on 8 of 9 dives!
Will be there in one month thanks! Will there be just reef sharks or others as well? Thanks
I used a Nikon D7000
what was this filmed with?

how much does it cost?
