    Explain what the beeping/chirping sounds mean. The whole purpose is to understand and be able to identify what it means if the alarm goes off.

    The unit can plug directly into the wall (with the white cord tied behind the unit) or a white cord can be pulled out to be used as an extension cord with the detector hanging on a hook or nail not blocking the power plug.

    The reason they are supposed to be low is C.M. gas is dense (starts low). Reason for the plug in type is because your outlets are 10-12 inches from ground. This gives you ample time to hear that percieved threat, and take action prior to room/space filling up. Remember...C.M. detectors low, Smoke detectors high. Note: Smoke likes to go up, amasses, then pushes down, hence in fires...you get low to escape.

    My question is I put the batteries in my kiddle CO tester and did the test and it did the beep x4 then again then shut off does the 2 x of 4 beeps mean carbon mono was detected please educate me thanks !

      @netman88  5 років тому

      Then the beeps stop right or keeps on beeping. If it keeps are beeping, the batteries are low.

    Regardless of wether the thing works you absolutely have to have this installed higher up, most American sockets are no higher than 1/2 meter of the ground and just like smoke and heat carbon monoxide travels up, I would suggest replacing that cheap thing with a low level CM detector installed near the celling

      Plugging it anywhere in the room should be fine. www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/21536403

      I would say it is telling you that you need a new Battery Backup. Since you asked the question a year ago I suppose you figured it out by now.

    What does a clicking noise and a flashing red light mean?
    I took it to the car and outside and the noise didn't go away nor did the light go out.

    Hey buddy - HOW DO YOU OPEN THE BATTERY DOOR ? Thanks!

    • @netman88
      @netman88  6 років тому

      For newer models, just lift that tab on the back of the unit near the center.

    • @kwebster62
      @kwebster62 4 роки тому

      Good question. The documentation only says "Push and Lift the battery door down to open". Well, there are several ways to push and lift.....but where. That small tab is almost too small for fingers, so i used a small blade to push against the tab, while also lifting up on the tab. It was so stiff, I had to put more pressure on it than I thought should be necessary, and thought it might break. But, it finally opened.

      If it's the older, unmodified types (pain), take a butter knife to the bottom base of battery panel and gently pry open (hinged at top so it stays on). CO400 type.

    How to change a battery for this one

    • @netman88
      @netman88  5 років тому +1

      This model is an older model, it's in the front I recall. Life the flap near the First Alert logo to open. The newer models have the battery in the back, just flip the flap in the back to replace the battery.

    It's not the higher the better. Carbon monoxide is heavier than air therefor the lower the better.

      Jack McGonnell my bad. CO is slightly lighter than air

    • @FarSeeker8
      @FarSeeker8 7 років тому

      I think normal air movement will diffuse the CO fairly evenly throughout your home, despite CO's density.

      +Melissa De Leon After 1st plug in, it will beep a few times I think then stop. No more than beeps after that. Check your power if it still beeps or there's a problem with CO in that area. Try another location to see if you see the same results also.
