I owned a 78 Liquifire 440 when I was around 20. It was the 1st sled I bought all on my own. Stupid me sold it about 5 years later and for the last ten years I have been looking for one to restore... Up here in Maine there are not allot of these old JD sleds. I am 40 now and although I have had chances to purchase 82-83 Liquifires from time to time.. I still hold out that I will find a 1978 with the CCW motor in it..
Those old things look pretty reliable. One pull to start it, thats crazy!
Gotta love the john deere, nothing runs like it. Amazing how you can start it with like half a pull!
Very reliable old machines. They look to be unrestored survivors. Nice
These are some sweet old Deere’s. Would love to find a 440 cyclone
What a nice piece of land you got there!
Excellent ride good times!
The slogan " Nothing Runs Like A Deere" comes from their line of sleds not their tractors. I used to love their 440 Liquifire. Great sled. Nice video and sleds!
Big john little john
Very cool ! I've always wanted a vintage Deere. Maybe a 440 Liquifire....They were real nice. Yours are too!
Owned a junk artic cat. Never again. Everything broke on it. But I just realized from watching your video. the only thing that didn't break was the belt. My brother had a 75 or 76 John Deere. Great sled. Could of killed him. Sold it without telling me first. Man I was so mad. 15 years old and looked brand new. And it ran awesome. Probably gonna start looking for one for myself. Great video thx!!
Did you find one yet?

Awesome vid! My kids and I have watched it several times now LOL
I'm going to check out a 76 Liquifire that is listed on CL near me. Hope to pick it up this week. Thanks for sharing....
nice riding,
Hell ya I got one too...!👍👍👍👍👍🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲 Got a 73 #500 CCW 440 engine in er she's totally restored...runs like a Deere👍
Change the crank seals if it hasn't been done.
$500 should get you a nice one, I usually buy them off season to help with cost, and if they need work there is plenty of time to do it.
Great video. Nostalgia. Who made motors for John deere?
Love it
Great sleds! I noticed the speedo not working on the 340, better check the drive shaft bearing. Jake, I think your talking about an early 70's JDX. I have a 77 Cyclone 440 also. Check my video! My Late Father bought it brand new and a friend found it in his shed. It was rough but did a partial resto on it a few years ago. I still ride it now and then.
Did you buy a belt clip and mount a spare belt on the belt guard yet?
Speedometer not working on the 340
Great time
How much did those cost? Because Ive been looking for a John Deere sled for about a year now and never can find anything in my price range near me
Hi i got a jd snowmobile 340 and i dont know anything about it due to it being repainted and no serial number on it. but it says 340 on it and the motor is mounted behind the stearing with a gas tank in front of it. if anyone knows what im talking about or what kind of sled it is just reply to this. thanks jake.
jake kujawa Early 70's JDX most likely.
Does the 82" Trailfire LX get around 33MPG in gas? IF so I'll be selling my GAS GUZZLERS and look for one!
mike jones with my badly tuned 78 Spitfire 340 I can get about 2 miles outta 1/8-1/4 gallon, so not that high but still pretty good.
Yes the Trailfire can under good conditions, easilly achieve 33 mpg strangely the 440 LX model was slightly better on gas than the 340 Trailfire
