I use the Young Living Thieves Household Cleaner and make my own DIY soft scrub for tougher jobs like bathroom/kitchen sinks, oven etc. and it works great. In a glass bowl (with a lid to cover) I just add 1 cap of the Thieves Household Cleaner, 1 package of Baking Soda (16oz), a little bit white Vinegar and about 10 drops of Lemon or Orange oil (Love the citrus smells) mix it all together to a smooth paste. This recipe is enough for several uses and just keep it under my bathroom vanity.

Ute Stock that sounds like a great solution for tougher jobs. I mixed just baking soda with the thieves and it worked great. I bet with the added vinegar and lemon essential oil it’s even better!

@@erinshome1607 Hi Erin; thanks for the video. I have tried everything in the bathroom; and what works REALLY well for me; is a regular spray bottle; fill it to that bottom thin line with dishwashing liquid, and then fill the rest of the bottle with distilled white vinegar. Spray it on the bathroom/shower etc.. and let it sit 20 minutes to an hour. Spray and come back.. The vinegar eats the calcium and hard water stains; but the dishwashing liquid keeps it in suspension. Cheap and if you use a non-smelly dishwashing liquid; it won't smell bad; and non-toxic. It cleans better than anything else and I've tried everything!! Hope that helps!

I appreciated your comparison & I also have used both brands to find that because these are concentrated cleaners, I may have to adjust the concentration level for tougher jobs. This is the same as using different chemical based cleaners for different jobs. Natural cleaners give you the freedom to create the best recipe for your needs or maybe just using the EO/cleaners that have the best aroma. The instructions listed on their bottles are a starting point. There are recipes for a scrubbing paste that is similar to soft scrub and toilet bombs that compare to toilet cleaners. If someone were to convert their cleaning habits to be chemical free, they’d want to approach it in a different way, knowing that you get to tweak products for maximum benefit and personal preference. Chances are that you wouldn’t run out of anything, because you would order at the time you mix your last batch of cleaner.

Thanks for sharing! I'd been using On Guard & Norwex cleaning paste (+ vinegar, bicarb, eucalyptus and lemon) but am about to try Thieves.
If you're having issues with the tougher stains, definitely recommend the Norwex cleaning paste. I see it's been mentioned in previous comments too so definitely worth considering! It was a gamechanger for our kitchen benchtops and stovetop!

Hi thanks for the video I have the on guard cleaner and have been undecided about trying thieves.... white vinegar and newspaper is great for cleaning windows but I recently discovered norwex and you can’t go past the fact that it’s only microfibre and water and it cleans glass/mirrors brilliantly! Hubby loves it for the car too! I’m gonna try thieves and see for myself which I prefer... thanks again!

The thing with completely natural cleaners is you have to DIY some stuff. I use Thieves ONLY, but I make DIY scrubs and things, like with the shower, I use thieves and then add some baking soda and citric acid that react together (super cheap and easy) IF I need extra scrubbing power every once in a while. I have a cleaning channel that shows how I use Thieves on every surface in my home if you are interested. :)

Use straight lemon oil - I use Doterra brand - on those tub markings. It is pretty amazing - I have gotten permanent marker (Sharpie) off fridge, inside of car vinyl, and painted house wall. Also, blood off clothing. I love the lemon - it is so great, you can also make lemonade with it - makes the best! People comment on it all the time. I also put it in my fruit salads - gives it all a zing! Purify is another great Doterra oil that you can use concentrated on tough spots. I know you used the retail price for those products, but when you get it wholesale... its awesome. I can totally hook you up if you want even better than wholesale option!!

For windows, I'm sure someone has probably mentioned this by now, but in case they haven't: I make my own, it costs pennies on the dollar. Get whatever bottle you're going to use, fill it roughly 1/2 with distilled white vinegar and 1/2 with distilled water (you can get it for like $1 a gallon anywhere). That's really all you need. The vinegar smell dissipates within a few hours. Personally, I add like 10-15 drops of lemon EO to mine and shake well before each use. My windows have never been so clean. I've been doing this for like 20 years. Totally child and pet safe, :)

That is really interesting since it was cleaning my bathroom - specifically the awful orange hard water stains in between the tiles in my shower - which made me a firm believer in Thieves cleaner. My previous bathroom cleaner said I had to spray in on and wait 5 minutes before wiping off. It didn't work that great, and we didn't want to be in the bathroom for HOURS afterwards because of the smell! When I tried out the Thieves cleaner for the first time, I just spritzed it on and wiped off almost immediately, not really expecting much, but everything came clean! And I didn't feel like I was killing my lungs breathing it in! Funny how people's experiences with the same thing can be so different, isn't it?

I use YL Thieves. There are tons of recipes for heavy duty cleaning such as adding lemon oil and baking soda. Both companies are good quality and trust me, using these over bleach is so much better for your family. There is an app called a Think Dirty, load time and start scanning your house hold and beauty products. I was shocked at how many so called green products came up dirty. Great video

Erin’s Home From personal experience with a house of BOYS, bathrooms and kitchens are tough. Try the cleaning dilution in your spray bottle, 1/4c hydrogen peroxide and 1T Castille soap (they say use I scented, I use lavender) fill the rest with water and .... Absolute MAGIC!!! ✨✨✨

Erin’s Home Another tip for forgot to mention is that your son was helping you spray thieves and touching the cleanser with his little hands. Imagine if He used your Clorox/bleach chemicals in the same manner, how His skin would have reacted ... just a tip. Thieves is safe for littles too

NikkiSapien thank you for the suggestion! I have heard great things about Castile soap (a friend makes her own hand soap-the only thing that doesn’t dry out her hands). I’m sure the bathrooms will only get worse as my boys get older!!

NikkiSapien that is so true! He wouldn’t “help” me clean if I was using a harsher chemical but with thieves I don’t have to worry about it!

I highly recommend Melaleuca's products for cleaning. My sister had asthma where she had to use an inhaler twice a day. She began using Melaleuca's products as they are 100% non-toxic (Tough n' Tender, Solumel, their laundry detergent, and many more). Within a few months, she no longer was experiencing asthma symptoms and no longer needed an inhaler. I began using the products too and just love them. The products are concentrated so they are well worth the extra dollars. Additionally, the Tough n" Tender is effective enough to clean an oven but gloves are not needed--and strong fumes are not an issue. I have seen Solumel clean old stains out of carpeting and it will remove ink from a Sharpie Permanent Marker from leather furniture!! I love the Young Living oils, including the Thieves oil, (I am a distributor for YL), and use them on a daily basis. But, I use the Melaleuca products too, they are wonderful!!

John Gordon I didn’t mention ingredients because that’s something you can look up online. This is my opinion of the performance for the price 😊

1: you don’t need glass you just have to have the right grade plastic
2: Thieves HANDS DOWN does everything you need! Heavy De-greasing add more cleaner and baking soda!!!
3: Young Living is the LEADING EO company in the world!
4: know your product before you review

Erin’s Home I feel the same way about Thieves as you and I’ve had it for awhile. Always end up with my Caldrea products. I wanted to try doTERRA if it was better than YL. Great video, Thank You!
