      @@mikeslessonsThe old one is 90+ years old. 30 -90 is the most juice (ripe)🤣🤣🤣🤣. Thank you for your efforts, I’ve also been on the channel for 5-6 years.
      I wanted to ask Mike, I can't find your videos from the Water Percussion collaboration. I remember they were and now I can’t find them. Maybe because I’m from Russia. If you don’t forget and it won’t be difficult, send me the link. Thank you in advance 🥁🥁🥁🤟🤟🤟🤟🤟

    Fun exercise! Really gets you focused as well on that linear kick and not rushing it or dragging it as you move between the different patterns. Thanks!

    Day 1 - 50bpm sort of got the 7 down and thought the 6 would be easy, but that kick was my enemy. Didn't attempt 5 cause brain was mush.
    Day 2 - got the 7 clean and up to 60bpm. Finally got the 6 rhythm down and up to 60 as well. Attempted 5 for about 30min and couldn't get past 2x through without losing it at 50bpm.
    Day 3 - 7 and 6 up to 70bpm like your instruction section. 5 is cleaner and up to 60bpm. Takes all the brain power.
    I appreciate this exercise. There are some songs I play that require that 8th note hi-hat pedal. A couple I can do, and some I can't. This will help immensely!

    This is a very nice one (hard to combine independence, polyrhythms and musicality). It's also quite reminiscent of the "melodic drum solo" by Steve Smith, where plays the same phrase but offsets it rhythmically. It's not the same, but the ear hears a similar patterns in various places compared to the downbeat, so it's close enough :)

    • @mikeslessons
      @mikeslessons  29 днів тому +1

      I love that stuff. Gavin H's term "Rhythmic Illusions" describes it perfectly.

    Thanks! I think this is exactly what I needed. I bought a mid-tier Yamaha electronic kit, and it has a snare with a silicone head. I was trying to practice rudiment stuff on it, but something about the feel is throwing me off, and I'm getting discouraged. This independence exercise, though, especially starting slow, will probably be just fine. I'm hoping this is a fun and educational distraction to help me get used to the feel of a different surface.

    Should I just divide the 7, 6, 5 by 16th notes and recite them beat by beat first? Otherwise, I don't know how to practice this.
    For example of 7:
    RLRR LLKR LRRL LKRL RRLL KRLR RLLK RLRR LLKR LRRL LKRL RRLL KRLR RLLK ... --> keep these in mind first?

      I don’t think the exercises themselves are unpopular, it just that the videos of them (like this one) tend to get less views that the candy like fills and crazy grooves. I personally like all three :) 🍵🙏🙏🍵
