    When my family plants a hay field, we mix oat seeds half and half with grass seeds. The oats root faster than grass. The rye grass is also a great deer food plot so watch out for fawns when you are mowing hay. I have found that planting patches of catnip to be handy on the farm. Keep a few leaves of catnip in your pocket so that when a cat smells your hand the cat goes directly into OD. This is a great way to catch semi wild cats.

    I want to learn more about the grass, do you cut it after the seeds fall off? How do you know when to cut it? What is a good production rate, is it in tons/acre? Definitely do more videos on the farm stuff.

    • @farmerbill6855
      @farmerbill6855 Рік тому +2

      It is cut at about one tenth bud stage when the plant is maximizing production of the seed head. That is when the highest content of protein and other nutrients are available. The seeds stay, as they are immature at that point.
