Thanks Ethan, great episode. Dave is one of the nicest guys ever and it's always awesome to hear him talk design! I paddled the new Blackfish a while ago and can't wait for that to come out

Hi Ethan. Thanks for putting together this interview with Dave. I always enjoy hearing his take on boards. You did a great job bringing out so much from Dave.
I'm a geezer and have had SICs, Starboards, etc, but I now enjoy being a Speed Freak. (Tough to say when you're near 80.) Could you tell me the paddler Dave was talking about who's twice your width and taller. (I'm a stocky boy as well.)
Thanks again Ethan. Quality stuff you put on. Best, Jocko

We mentioned his new team rider Donato Freens who's another tall rider who performs incredibly well!

I was waiting for you to do a review of the new board. I kinda think it would have sucked to have spent the money a year ago, to grab a dugout blackfish and then have infinity pull the plug on it. They were pretty much sleazing them out this last winter.
I would be interested in your feelings between the two boards because I feel you understand how it feels having your hard earned money go up in smoke, I hope Infinity took care of you with the new board and the dugout blackfish.
It is why I am less interested in Starboard boards, they seem to change their boards from year to year. How much has Infinity taken away from the value of the blackfish boards that people have spent top dollar for? I'd say it is well under what they were closing them out at.
I am not trying to be petty, but, someone a year ago buying a dugout blackfish for the same price as what you can get into an Everready this season, that has got to burn more than a little bit.
His last statement was kinda upsetting. "Spend the money and get a good board, something you will have for years and years." That is why I'd like to hear your thoughts, on having a dugout blackfish and this new Everready, if you knew the Everready was coming, would you have spent full retail on the dugout blackfish? I don't think anyone would have, him also saying they are changing the flat deck blackfish should make anyone looking at a flat deck Blackfish hold off until the new one comes out.
When I was DH mountain biking, I hung around with pros and company heads, I heard about all the new things coming out, it was like the retail end of things was a year behind what the pros and shops knew about.
I feel that is what is going on here too with paddle boards. Those in know, know, those who don't stay up on things buy things being fazed out where they should have waited.
I feel like Chris from Black Project was as on the up and up as he could have been, though, I did ask him about his new paddle before he announced it, it is why I didn't buy a Hydroflow X for full retail and purchased a second, then buying a three piece paddle on closeout. I didn't get burned and I have no hard feelings about what I purchased.
I don't want to put you in a hard spot between your sponsors and your feelings, but, in a way, you have your own customers who watch your videos and look to you to guide them in a proper direction so they don't get burned.
