When you said the sea hares and sea grass had evolved together, I wondered at first if you'd meant in the sense of an arms race. But nope! It's a nice relationship! The interrelationship of the plants and animals in that environment are so fascinating.
Yeah, at first I was also thinking that the sea hares fed on the sea grass, but nope! :) It's also a good reminder of just how fragile ecosystems can be, and why we as humans need to be vigilant and alert about monitoring how our activities can impact the natural world. The good news is that this video also shows how quickly ecosystems can bounce back if just given a chance. Despite the massive algal bloom imbalance, it also means that there's crazy abundant food for the sea hares, so once their main pressure (the crabs) was taken off, their population explodes, and they quickly bring the algae back under control.
Funny thing is, I just finished writing a paper on the conservation of sea grass and this video included points I included in my paper. An unusual coincidence!
Once you start watching Deep Looks video, you cannot stop. ITS SO ADDICTIVE. This is actually really good and healthy if you watch their videos, this is because they teach you facts about many animals.
I swear to the Holy Lord I love your contents! It's more educational and better than National Geography and Animal Planet. You have no idea how much I've been being your contents everyday!
My niece would be so jealous to hear that you have pet snails! She loves them very much. When she finds one we let her keep it for a bit to observe, but then she has to put it back exactly where she found it. I wonder if Giant African land snails are legal where we live... I should find out. Although, my sister and brother-in-law would take ages to forgive me! Hahaha! What type of snails do you keep?
@@KQEDDeepLook yes please. They have to compete with logging so now nesting for these colourful birds has decreased dramatically in the wild. Its very interesting watching a pair hatch their young in a hollow tree trunk.
Look at those pretties! The baby ones are even more adorable! I actually had a common slug scampering on me and trying use their radula on my skin. It was ticklish like having the tiniest rake caressing my fingertip.
2:21 Even Laura can’t help but fawn over an otter rubbing and smooshing his face UWU. (Love the video btw! Thanks for constantly uploading and giving knowledge even with COVID19 around!)
I am 13 years old and I love Biology and your videos make me love it even more !!! I have been getting good grades and with your videos I have a lot of info about various topics in Biology and teacher appreciates that alot . All credit to you guys 😁😁 I referred your channel to other Biology loving friends of mine and they enjoy it too . I had a question though .............wouldn't the Sea hares be vulnerable with those exposed gills ? Do they have parasites ?
THIS is what I love about the Internet - I am able to see and learn about things on this planet that, under absolutely no circumstances, would I otherwise ever get see or know about. My still absorptive mind Thanks you ~
Another fascinating footage. Reintroduction of sea otters is proved an impressive solution, & encouraging! Our ignorance on a delicate, complex balance in nature will have to be recognized & corrected, but sooner rather than later.
I find sea hares and sea slugs so fascinating!

We get it, Cristina!

Pretty cool, that reminds of the yellowstone wolves and why top predators are so important for an ecosystem.
As a budding biologist, I simply love these videos...😎😎
Glad you like them!
