It's only a short wait until the new Navara Warrior arrives - yes, it'll be more expensive, but it benefits from much more Australian know-how (and local sub-assembly). We'd probably wait for that car.
20,000 km is an awful lot to ask of oil in a diesel. 5,000 more than it's competitors. Do Nissan have a 'special' oil or something? OR is it simply a marketing ploy to make the sales pitch? Hmmmm... If I wanted to keep it after it's warranty and not have to replace both turbos I would be changing that slippery blood at 10,000 intervals me thinks. Can't help but notice that most diesels were once a 5,000km change UNTIL fixed and included service packaging became a thing then the service intervals mysteriously doubled, tripled and now quadruples.. Just sayin...
@@AnyoneSeenMikeHunt Some things have improved since back in the day, but I basically agree I would at least check the oil and see what it looks like, 20,000 does seem like a lot.
@@AnyoneSeenMikeHunt Vehicles such as the Navara have high oil capacities (7 litres?). This means that in percentile terms, oil dilution and contamination are reduced in comparison to vehicles with lower oil capacities. It's worth while noting that Iveco produce trucks with 30.000 and 40,000 Km intervals but with capped hours of use. Modern synthetic lubricants and filtration systems are also greatly improved in comparison with analog mineral types. That said however, I would not hesitate to reduce the intervals in a vehicle that does a lot of short trips and cold starts.
I had a VSK d40 for 6 years used every day in my business carrying ladders 500 odd kgs of gear no issue's at all. I have a 2018 NP300 series 3 bought it new, Its used the same way even towing a caravan at 2.9 tons on holidays. No issue's apart from the seat foam falling out. I bought it for 15K less than the equivalent ranger and Hilux I don't regret it one bit. I am waiting for the new warrior for the upgrade I think. What Nissan don't tell you is that the fixed price servicing cost's go up annually. Irrespective of what was quoted when you bought the vehicle.
I wonder what the price point will be for a V6 Ranger or Hilux. If the Mercedes was anything to go by there would be a huge price difference between the 4 and 6 cylinders
I've got a 3 years old Navara STX with 80K on the clock, its fitted with a pre-filter in the fuel line and catch can. All HWY k's, it been a great vehicle which we service every 10K even though Nissan require 20K, there is no way I'm leaving oil changes that long, it also has a chip fitted at 160 - 180kw (adjustable) We are currently looking to upgrade the vehicle, drove the NEW STX, The Isuzu, Ranger and the Hilux, I was disappointed with the features they have taken out of the STX, no leather seats standard, removal of slide out coffee cups on the dash, removal of 12V outlet on the dash (on top with recess) no 12V outlet in the tray. and a BIG price increase over the previous model. It was much quieter to drive though and the driver assist was acceptable. My assessment was that Isuzu had the best interior layout but laziest engine. The Ford had the best tech, but worst interior layout, engine OK but nothing outstanding, The Toyota was next best interior layout & was the next bets to drive after the Isuzu, New 150kw output was pretty good, The Ford was better to drive than the STX but not Hilux, Nissan has stiffened the suspension significantly on the NEW Navara so it has lost the comfort advantage. The boss is a Ford man so it looks like that will be the car we will go with this year, He is thinking about waiting for the 2022 Ranger to be released, Just waiting to see if more info comes out this month, We would ideally like to take delivery in November, but plans could change. The bottom line is that all these vehicles will do the job we want, it just comes down to the brand preference. Last time is felt the Nissan was the most comfortable & the best deal we drove out at 44k, we also came out of a D40 V6 STX which got a great trade in, (loved that V6 power) especially with a 200kw chip, As you said it's a shame they don't have access to the Merc V6, they would be really on the money with that engine,
At the end of the video I think you nailed it. This is an upgraded ST as its missing a bunch of stuff from the STX. The Warrior will probably be the upgraded STX. Was comparing them on the Nissan website last.
In South Africa they only arrived now, but with the old YD 25 2.5 litre single turbo diesel. It does pull quite good, since they have reworked, but I will miss the 2.3TwinTurbo once time for replacement of my 2019 SE comes.
Needs power seats and bonnet struts, maybe grab handle on the driver side. Some markets still get the old YD25 tuned to similar hp and torque as the biturbo and hydraulic steering which I prefer. To each their own I suppose..
Nissan vehicles always leave off a lot of things the other brands have. That's why the price is so reasonable. They just don't measure up to others as well as in reliability also.
Pity the Hyundai Santa Cruz is not being made in RHD. A comparison would be nice to see. Why can't Nissan fit bonnet struts? Too hard? They're not expensive.
No heated electric seats or sunroof option from the stx. More for less. Very poor. Plus they removed the side vent cupholders, and 12 volt socket and tray from last facelift. Yet overseas models still have it. More poor form. Too lazy to fit and calibrate radar cruise or front park sensors. Sigh.
Great review as usual… Tom this is the best looking Navara Ute to date but it doesn’t go as good as an Amarok so my question to you is in your opinion having driven both; is the Amerock really worth the S20K more price tag?

No, this is a midlife face-lift of the D23 navara. The D40 was replaced by the D23 in 2014. Based on looks, I do agree its more reminiscent of the D40, and I think the changes are all due to people complaining the D23 at launch looked too soft compared to the D40
