I have a 2017 Navara, and I have been happy with it to this very day after all these years. Yes, I wish that the interior could have been better along with a better rearview camera but those are my only issues. The car still sounds and drives as solid as the day I bought it. I have never regretted buying it and will probably drive it until it falls apart. Never had any issues(mechanical or electrical) at all after all these years. It still brings a smile to my face every day that I get into it.
Seriously and honestly,I have never and will never skip this videos because u really make important informations.Your car reviews are great, one skip and boom you slightly miss an important information.Great review
I was always anti Navara until I seen the Warrior, mainly because of what they did to the Suspension and all the additional touches they did do it, the Cooper tyres with spare especially! I test drove one, and fell in love right away with it, so much so that I ended up buying it. The inside is nothing special, but its spacious and comfortable, due to the coiled rear, its quite and the fuel consumption, on mine anyway, averages 7.8L/100km, so bloody good with the extras that are on it, and that is around town driving! Once off road, or on the sand it obviously changes! But the inside doesn't need to be special, its a 4X4 ute, hard plastic surfaces are easy to clean!!! What I am trying to say is, don't dismiss something based off what you see at first, experience it, then judge it. People will still be anti Navara and they are probably right in their own opinion, but Ive owned the Ranger, mkII, Triton, current face lifted version, and the Navara Warrior definitely wins ... I do sometimes miss my Ranger though!!!
I picked mine up late Feb, I'm at 1800kms now.. I like it.... It's a well rounded car that doesn't really excel in any specific area but is fit for purpose. I do like the new styling. Although annoyingly the tub design changed & canopy options aren't looking to be available for some time yet.

Hi Paul, Thanks for the review. Few comments - I previously owned a 2015 series 1 NP300 & it's honestly disappointing to see not much has changed since the first incarnation. Personally, I experienced several issues with my Navara - rust on chassis welds, paper thin paint that easily damaged, seat foam collapsed, engine pulleys whining. The list goes on. I agree with your comments & Nissan really had an opportunity to make this car great again. Yes, it has added safety tech but thats honestly it. I see they have removed parts from the dash (cup holders in dash, centre tray on dash also, removal of 12v sockets too). Further, that dash is just garbage. Why no soft touch upgrades! All those finer touches like you pointed out too like rubber grips in drink holders etc, just really highlights how lazy Nissan are. Final point, Nissan had a chance to listen to their customers & put in upgrades to lure back Ranger/Hilux buyers. I can tell you now, this update will not do that. Thanks for the review Paul
Here in Chile SouthAmerica we have these new Navara about 2 months ago, is now the second top seller in sales, and I think these year is going to be the top 1 pickup here in Chile. I have bought and XE 4X4 automatic and is a very good truck, the best for me is the ride comfort, very soft is like a SUV.
@@CarExpertAus Very interesting the drive modes avaliable in the Navara in Australia, that option in not possible here in Chile. We received here the Nissan Navara from the factory of Mexico. Also the rear electric glass is not coming to Chile.
Dear paul, i honestly love you voice reviews and shown clearly all deep points. And i hope fully you add more about brake testing. It is the most safety all car need. Please please
I agree. Stop stamping holes in the chassis and paint it properly, give it full time 4X4 and drop the piano black trim inside a longer cabin and they have a winner. Not too much to ask, surely? While they are at it with the full time 4X4, why not equip it with their new Mercedes 9 G-Tronic transmission, which Nissan build under license, along with the two speed transfer case off the GLS? They could do it, add a couple of three grand on to the price and they would have something unique to sell and I bet it would fly out of the dealer's doors.
@@hedydd2 Right on the money! We’re gonna wait another decade for those changes to be implemented. Sigh... in the meantime I’m gonna get rid of my D23. Disappointing..!
They listen to businesses, with the over 1 tonne payload I don't have to pay FBT on my utes anymore, all 30 changing from troublesome Hilux to Navara, it's an absolute no brainer
@@hedydd2 Nissan's main business for Navara is in Fleet. No point adding such a complicated and niche drivetrain when all Fleet customers (Councils, Corporates and Commercial business) want simple, cheap well performing vehicles.
@@zealman79 me too. Ordered a S5 Patrol but no Android auto, no digi odometer display, a wood grain dash & Nissan cant deliver till June was a deal breaker. Order cancelled.
Stopped watching, when you got the soft touch meter out, pommy bullshit at its best, every European car might have soft touch materials, but after less than two years they are peeling, and get sticky absolute rubbish, something that never happens or it’s over 20 years old in a Japanese car.
I had the 2008 stx lol. Never any issues, was a great car that had heaps of grunt for a 4cylinder turbo diesel. Looking at going back so appreciate the review.
I've had two STX's in the last 5 yrs and absolutely love them, but noticed the styling changes arent that great on the 2021 model. Especially on the dash where they have removed the 12volt outlet that was positioned directly under the rear mirror. it also served as a storage option for your phone or glasses as it was a tray moulded into the dash. Also noticed the 12volt outlet in the tub isn't there. I normally do 30k kms a year and my fuel economy always site around 7.6 - 8L/100 I am impressed with the off-road mode
5:55 I bought the 2020 ST Nissan Navara in December and by March I had a catastrophic electrical breakdown which conked out all AC controls, turns off TSC randomly and tries to engage the diff lock. On top of that it locks into park when ever I put it in park requiring me to jam my key into the shift lock on the console whenever I get back in to knock it into reverse or drive. Nissan has it at its service centre right now (7th of May) and have had it for the last 5 weeks and can’t find the problem but have managed to replicate the issue. NOW say they will replace it for a new one (maybe the one in this review). So reliability so far is not great but I’m hoping it was just a one off dud...
Great and detailed review as always Paul. I think Nissan build good cars and have often thought about owning a Navara and the new update is a good improvement over the older model especially with the upgraded safety tech however as far as utes go I still think although older the current Ranger maybe a better proposition for the long term and when released the 2022 model will be a bit of a game changer in the Ute world.
It copies Ranger's Saber wildtrak colour, now the Raptor's conquer grey, and tailgate assist and big grille. Has the steering been lighten up ? Still hydraulic? How is the turning circle now When do 3 points turn? Still non-HD camera?
I'm actually shattered. Had been waiting for a few more ute manufacturers to release refrshed models as I'm looking to buy one. Navara was on my radar but I can't look past the fact the interior looks like the older model. The outside look really good but you spend time inside the car so that was what I was looking forward to. Unfortunately no longer on my short list. D-max is still winning it for me so far the Musso isn't bad either but the whole bankruptcy thing kinda worries me and I have no interest in purchasing anything Chinese ATM.
Lol I thought I was the one in the wrong with the old steering wheel. Glad to hear I wasn't the only one honking at people when I was making tight turns 😆
I’ve got a 2018 series 3 ST-X. It’s been a good car, hasn’t let me down at all. Only bugbears are 1. Viscous fan drives me mad until it turns off (even on cold morning starts), 2. Centre console and glove box could be bigger (rear air vents steal room but are very low output), 3. Auto transmission holds 3rd too long and can be indecisive in traffic (sports mode wakes it up a lot though). All up, it drives nice, better than Hilux, probably on par with Ranger IMO. If I was buying now I’d get a Wildtrak biturbo, but at the time this was the best choice for me. 👍 BTW, I enjoy your reviews, keep up the good work!
This was a great review I love it. I like your views you’re always honest and it is very helpful when one is considering buy the vehicle. When are you doing a review on the new Toyota Hilux 2.4 Raider 4x4 double cab? Or perhaps it was already done and I have missed that review. I am looking forward to a detailed honest review of that youte.
I just purchased a series 4 2020 STX & I’m wondering why they removed the above dash storage and drink holders under the air con vents in the 2021 model! Huge loss! Otherwise this has exactly the same interior. There’s more safety distractions in this new build but hardly noticeable between models. There’s definitely more comforts for the passengers in the back in this new model but unless you’re constantly carting kids around no one goes back there anyway! The Few little tweaks won’t be missed between my 2020 STX and the 2021.
I own a current Navara STX (5 years old) which I am looking to replace. It has been a good vehicle so I went to look at the "new" Navara and when I sat in it, as Paul said, apart from the steering wheel and seats it is exactly the same. My new car will not be another Navara
Lol Paul it's not always about the figures, yes the Ford now has 500Nm of torque with the new engine but how's reliability? The Toyota also has one with the newly tuned 2.8 liter engine but how come the D-Max hits 100km/h faster than that engine? I say this new Navara is definitely something despite the carried over engine that's proven to be great as well, despite not yet having 200+hp or 500Nm of torque. Though I love how comprehensive this review is again, will definitely look forward for your future reviews.
Great video. Very interesting, since I don’t know much about a 4x4 truck. But I do now. I like the simplicity of this truck. It’s not a too much in anyone’s face kind of truck. It’s discreet.
Love the grill . Mind you I love big American pickups with enormous smiles you can see from outer space. Pro4x would be my Model of choice. Lots of competition out their but Nissan should be able to sell a few of these.
I have 2011 Navara king cab with 185,000kms, the only problem I had is engine needs regular servicing to avoid stalling but has been reliable n works for what I do. For $58,000 it doesn’t stack up against competition especially with interior quality, design is better but I reckon D40 look more like F truck like. Towing or carrying load with automatic is better then Ranger with manual, even soft rear suspension. I wouldn’t mind new Navara but Mitsubishi is definitely worth looking at for value. If Nissan brought Titan here I definitely buy it for more capability but not at $80k.
You have rember Nissan is still emerging from the Carlos Ghosn era. This Navara might have taken a while to get right but the new model in 2024 should be a competitive player.
It will because it will be co-developed with the triton which is the best ute on the market at the moment. It'll probably sport the triton drivetrain and it's terrain modes. The engine will be a bit of both brands but I'd prefer it to be developed mostly by mitsubishi because their engines performance is incredible apart from the turbo lag.
yet another fantastic review, but please stop telling people they can text and drive.. even hands-free texting is dangerous for drivers. especially when most drivers CANT DRIVE 🤣
I have the 2015 ST model and it's fantastic, I would say this is not worth the upgrade if you already own any NP300 variant. However, this particular model is substantially cheaper than what the previous model is still selling for currently. If you have an older vehicle and are looking for a reasonably priced 4X4 ute, I'd highly recommend this. Cheapest in it's class
I've just driven one for my fleet. I've driven all of the competition and alot of my guys have some sort of injury. The ride in this truck leaves the competition for dead, my fleet will now change to Nissan well done to them.
absolutely love my navara, was extremely excited to see this review. As soon as i saw the piano black i lost all hope. Did they also get rid of the cup holders up the front next to drive and front passenger?
I know it’s a hated piece of kit by the aussies, but I replaced my old D40 450 after 6 years trouble free with a Merc 4cyl (couldn’t afford the 6 🤨). I know it’s a navara in drag so wasn’t fooled, I drove them back to back and went Merc for 1 thing only...refinement. For 2 utes supposedly the same the Merc was heaps quieter and NVH was far superior to the Navara. Plus Merc had got scared and dropped pricing to match which made it a win. It’s only 18 months old but I don’t expect this ‘Nissan’ to be anything less than 100% reliable like my last one. They may not have the following of a Ranger, but for the average Joe I reckon they are under rated things Sorry, one negative...what the ferk is with the one coffee cup holder!! Very un German decision that was
I own a 2012 STX 550 Navara with the 3.0 litre V6. Very nice, tons of grunt and very reliable. When Nissan released this shape I considered it a step backwards, so much so that it was down to only the Hi-Lux and Ranger come replacement time. This new one though could put Nissan back on my shopping list. The only concern is the power output compared to the other two.
@@lg8188 Very reliable. Tons of grunt but I found that short distance travel led to carbon build up. I took it out on the motorway and knocked it back a couple of gears and got it to about 3000 rpm's at 100kph. The change was amazing after that. Keep an eye in the oil lines to the intercooler though, they sometimes tend to leak. A Nissan dealer....or some will tell you that the intercooler will need replacing, over two thousand dollars worth. Bullshit. It's just a leaky hose. Mine was just a pup, only 116,000 kays. It would have gone on to much higher mileage than that, but I had an accident and sadly it was written off. I still miss it badly. Go and get one mate, they are awesome. Just check the log books and make sure it's history is recorded and you won't have a problem.
All we need is a car maker to produce a duel cab ute with a big petrol v8. And there’s your best selling ute in Australia. Its a no brainer. EG ford ranger with a5.0 mustang motor from factory or a navara with a 5.6 petrol v8.
The new Dmax is just so nice its hard to understand why anyone would buy another ute at the moment. Consumers really need the other ute brands to catch up on styling and tech.
The interior is letting us down... I love the look and design it's well designed out side and engine also it's good but the problem is interior....... Look at other competitors like Ford Renger and Toyota they improved a lot.
Yet once again, still no soft-opening tailgate. I would suggest when testing these cars’ hill descent control feature, that you also set the descent speed prior to lifting off the brakes (with exception of course to those vehicles without a speed control).
@@CarExpertAus wow, didn't think tritons were being sold that quickly. As far as I know it's being outsold by ranger, hilux and the updated dmax has stolen alot of it's sales. What'd you'd put that down too, low production due to the pandemic?
@@axelklausvonstahl6638 yeah it's the best 4wd atm according to 4wd action, but then again the triton has always been one of the best off roaders for years now.
@@CarExpertAus No worries. I just wanna see Paul's take on the new Triton. Since he has done a review on every other pick-up i think a review on it will be a nice comparison.
Could've pushed the envelope a bit more by making torque competitive to its contemporaries by making it 500NM or higher, high def cameras and nicer sets of wheel choices. The dash could have also been derived from the New 2021 Nissan Xterra to up the premium feel a bit. If they changed the body design a bit, and the aforesaid, that would make for a good revision. Sales may jump.

Great video Paul, I have also started a UA-cam channel here in Australia and hopefully one day mine can grow like your
👌🏼🤞
I didn't find the previous version ugly and this is better again.
Could someone please share the link this gentleman mention to “why you shouldn’t use 4 wheel drive whilst driving on the highway”
Kind regards
Enjoy! ua-cam.com/video/A94wOxIUpLM/v-deo.html
🤞
ISUZUDMAX 2022 , JUST GOT LAUNCHED 2 HRS AGO HERE IN PHILIPPINES.
👏
2021 yun pre. Wala pa 2022
How come they didnt add any grab handles on the front driver side 🤦♂️. I guess they expect people to grab onto the steering wheel then
yet another fantastic review, but please stop telling people they can text and drive.. even hands-free texting is dangerous for drivers. especially when most drivers CANT DRIVE 🤣
Love ur reviews I watch it evrytime ....just a request lol while drving we would love to see bumper front view more than side ways 😜😅
Thanks for the feedback! Which view do you mean?
@@CarExpertAus thnks for ur reply ..well pretty much every videos u make 💙
I've just driven one for my fleet. I've driven all of the competition and alot of my guys have some sort of injury. The ride in this truck leaves the competition for dead, my fleet will now change to Nissan well done to them.
Zdravo Paul!! 🇭🇷
Can you do a proper review of a Ranger Raptor and go through all the driving modes
2022 stx owner here.
Everything is faultless on my ute however theres a slight annoying squeak in the drivers leather seat.
It would've be good to see the new headlights working at night . For all the country buyers .
Why is comfort not separate from practicality? Doesn't it make sense that is should be separate?
Why don't we get the American styled Nissan? Why does Australia always get the crappiest version of everything?
Some more should be invested in this car especially in the driving, safety and practicality sectors.
absolutely love my navara, was extremely excited to see this review. As soon as i saw the piano black i lost all hope. Did they also get rid of the cup holders up the front next to drive and front passenger?
Yes 😭
@@CarExpertAus Shite man... storage was already bad in this car and now they do this...
We love The cup holders I can have my coffee in one and water in other one for them road trips
@@steve8295 agreed, the whole interior is almost the same so im not too sure why they took them out
@@VeerMaharaj storage is fantastic in this car my family has a Everest and a ranger no where as much storage then the navara
Which is better, Nissan navara or Isuzu dmax ???
Please answer
They may not have the following of a Ranger, but for the average Joe I reckon they are under rated things
Sorry, one negative...what the ferk is with the one coffee cup holder!! Very un German decision that was
You’re right about the refinement - they put some effort into making the Benz very quiet out on the road!
When are you going to do a review on the 2021 Mitsubishi triton. Would be keen to see how it stacks up against the rest of the ute segment
As soon as we can get one! They keep selling the press cars because there’s no stock 😭
Nissan needs to hire someone else to design their vehicle interior. They should have done that years ago...
Good stuff right here
I own a 2012 STX 550 Navara with the 3.0 litre V6. Very nice, tons of grunt and very reliable. When Nissan released this shape I considered it a step backwards, so much so that it was down to only the Hi-Lux and Ranger come replacement time. This new one though could put Nissan back on my shopping list. The only concern is the power output compared to the other two.
How many k’s do you have on the 550? And are they reliable. Cheers.
@@area51isreal71 ah thanks heaps for the info.
Wheels. Consider ease of cleaning?
Best looking ute now, surely
We’ve had a 2015 st and hasn’t missed a beat the whole time
I have (a 2019) South African SE which is ST equivalent. Very good vehicle I agree. Unfortunately they only came out here in 2017.
Yes I drive a 2015 st auto 4x4 great car
please do a horn test on your reviews too!!
What the area you do the test drive for off road please tell me the name?
All we need is a car maker to produce a duel cab ute with a big petrol v8. And there’s your best selling ute in Australia. Its a no brainer. EG ford ranger with a5.0 mustang motor from factory or a navara with a 5.6 petrol v8.
Does Nissan only care for it's consumers in the US? Why no newer models and updates for middle east and Australia?
Will you ever record single cab pick-ups?
I still haven't figured out why Nissan removed the dash cup holders in the this model. That's pretty much a deal breaker for me
Nissan had a V6 engined ute a few years back. Whatever happened to this engine and why is it not in this one
Can you please do the Peugeot Land trek next
Why the thailand version is rear leaf spring and the australian version is still rear coil spring?
Wonder why Nissan didn’t give one to 4wd 247 to review side by side with all the others...
what is it with the interior with nissan 4x4? why just whyyy??? is it so hard to just improve it just a lil bit, pleaseeee!!! godd!!
I just bought stx few days ago and it doesn’t come with satellite navigation system
why won't Nissan Australia sell the Titan in Australia???
No more Navara on my driveway, they don't have room in cab specially rear seats. I am glad I got D'max 😉
Even the ssangyong Musso is miles ahead interior wise
I can't wait to see what Auto Craze Australia is going to do to this baby.
I would likr to drive a manual version, is thare an manual version??
Folks in Australia, can you believe that the Navara is sold more than the Hilux over here in Costa Rica...?
Yet once again, still no soft-opening tailgate.
I would suggest when testing these cars’ hill descent control feature, that you also set the descent speed prior to lifting off the brakes (with exception of course to those vehicles without a speed control).
Why does it look like an Extrail on the inside and not the US Frontier? Missed opportunity
Paul when are you doing a triton review?
That's what i am waiting for either. Triton looks promising in means of 4x4 mechanics.
Sorry, we can’t get one all that easily. The press vehicles keep getting sold. Still trying to track one down.
Mmmm best selling hey, yep they are so popular in my city the dealerships closed.
Loving it already 😍😘 💕
