End game ochette with her broken 6x provoke is ss tier though. Until they patch that she’s literally op for all cases. I mean ochette can give 6x shark boss per turn with her ex skill, unpatched== 6bp, 6 aoe dagger damage, full sp, full heal. Or you can summon light Golem with shark and get 4x everything and 6x power buff. She’s broken
Because of the Jam cheese with Throné, she was the most important part against the superboss for me. If you haven't used any up until that point, she just throws jams on everyone while also having another free turn every turn. I had her as a dancer subclass so she could use Sealticge on everyone as well as keeping everyone at max everything, *while also* tearing everything apart with Aeber's Reckoning. She had so many roles to fill, but that was never a problem because she had double turns. And in contrast to Partitio, you don't even have to grind money (or jam in this case) to reach her full potential, since you get more than enough in a normal playthrough.
Something that should be taken into account for RPG tier lists is the holistic usefulness of every character at different points of the game. That said, Castti is more of an end-game must have, she would go last on my tier list’s S class and Hikari would go first, then Partitio. You have to have a lot of money and resources for Partitio and Castti to shine, whereas Hikari is stupidly good from jump. He’s relevant the entire game. Throne’ is also ridiculously good just got stealing amazing items from NPCs early, same for Agnea’s entreat. Just my two cents.
With that stipulation I'd put castti as far and away the best. Hikari does damage but everyone can do good damage at lower levels while castti BPbregen is irreplaceable the whole game start to finish
If you know where to look getting Castti's strong ingredients early is very easy and is probably even stronger in the early game. Other characters need a lot of time and investment to shine by Castti can achieve output at her max potential as soon as you can get her ingredients. Granting the entire team max BP every turn, being able to do 5 hits of an element for breaking, being able to cripple enemies with debuffs. Hikari won't be doing insane damage in the early game and Partitio won't have negotiate schedule.
@@seven_8434 Yeah, but spending time farming for money or items isn’t as efficient as simply switching Hikari to merchant, getting Full Power and literally destroying 99% of all encounters with Sougetsusen and bosses with Hienka into Brandt’s Thunder. I don’t know about you, but Castti never felt necessary for me because everything died so fast with Hikari, specially after he gets Armsmaster. Castti is very useful for the endgame fights, but she’s not necessary at beginning or mid game and takes more time than I’m willing to invest at the beginning.
Main Apo is going to keep on being the most stupid shit ever if they don't change how concoct works lol. Alfyn was broken, and Castti is too. Not complaining though, gotta love them drug dealers get some credit, not just all the damage dealers for them fat numbers
Alfyn was my main in the first game & went with Castti in this one. Apothecary is op with concot & makes a great character to always have in the party because they will always be useful.
I agree with what you said in your last video Negotiate Schedule can be the most powerful ability in the game, but you need to have a lot of money to use it. I think Partitio & Castti can be tied for the best characters in the game. I started with Castti in the full game due to concot being even better in this game than it was in the first, plus she can boost it.
If they decide to fix Ochette's glitch, then i think low A is fair. If they leave it in, then low S-tier. She's been good on my team for taking out trash mobs quickly and debuffing boss fights. Some of her summons are very good if you take the time to capture them, and can also end fights really quickly with a boosted capture.
Ochette´s summons are so useful. It´s not as flexible as Hikari´s abilities, I think. But personally I prefer it. She has the added benefit that all of her beasts are free to use. While Hikari´s stuff can quickly drain all of his SP
She deals less damage than the best damage dealers and provides worse support than the best supports. Her unique utility is being an incredible breaker, other than that there's stronger options for everything she can do.
Letting aside the bug that will probably get fixed, I think Ochette is the strongest character just for the fact that the beasts have unlimited summons and there are some really strong beasts in the game. You can basically be damage dealer, healer, buffer and/or debuffer. Ochette can be anything. Her being in the B tier underestimates her.
I´m so glad they buffed the beasts. I hated using Haanit in the first game because her mechanic felt so weak. Being able to use each beast just a limited amount made her so tedious to maintain.
I really hope they don’t patch it. It feels like accessing the hidden potential in her and it does still cost SP and require you to not use her Latent skill. I also tried to cheese the secret boss with it and failed, so it’s not COMPLETELY broken.
The damage is not even close to what other characters can do since it's fixed damage but early game she is op and evolves into more of a decent support late game
Late late game, her monsters are used for support. I have one that does 6 shield damage period, one that does massive debuffs, and one that does massive buffs. So summoning them six times using the glitch is very powerful. Then I just use Brand’s Thunder for nuking.

But most of all using Ochette for those purposes feels like a waste imo since she's easily the best breaker in the game and that utility is what I personally believe to be the best use for her.
Agnea is absolutely busted in my book, I had her as an armsmaster and due to her dance session to recover HP and SP as well as hit everyone latent power, I was able to practically one-shot Vide’s final form with Lionheart Axe

You have to understand that there is a damage cap in the game, that being 99,999. Knowing that, Hikari has a learned skill that can actually hit that cap 4 times in one move so ochette cant compete at all lmao. Funny enough people found out that Castti concuct is literally the highest damage dealer in the game cause she can hit said dmg cap or very close to it more times in one move then anyone in the cast.

King Hikari. His Divine skills seemed to end up doing way more damage than his latent power late game. Only reason I ended using his latent was sp reasons. Your videos gave me some fun build ideas mid game.
Hikari's Hienka lets him act again at the end of the turn. At max BP I always use 2 for Hienka or if possible I go max BP and recover it for him again to go max BP and use his most damaging moves. So I say his Latent Power is still incredibly useful if you want to get some extra damage.
I came here to say exactly this. Always use it when the enemy's already broken, so there's no cost to going again at the end of the turn, and then it's just free extra damage. Really, really solid.
Actually I have no opinions. This is pure mathematical facts! Nah for real though I think a case can be made for nearly every character as none seem bad and all have great potential if used properly

It annoys me to no end when I have both Hikari and Os in the same party and I use Scholar Divine on Os, with peacock strut, and he does like 15k damage at lvl 42 with full boost on unbroken boss. Then I have hikari buff himself with atk and just full boost damage cap like its fucking nothing LOL. Hikari is just there to basically shame osvald after I set Os up over like 2-3 turns, Hikari just walks up and fuckin shits all over him
Funny enough, Osvald seems to be the most picked as a main. I didn't want to pick him for that reason. I chose Castti because I figured she would be useful throughout the whole game & in most, if not all, fights because of concot.
@@purplatypus7405 I feel like this is a very common thing for spellcasters in general in jrpgs just take Black Mage in Final Fantasy/Bravely Default for example. Mvp in early game because they are the only one who can make quick work of random encounters with multi target attacks then just falls behind when everyone starts unlocking more options.
@VGPorage yeah agree there. For reference. I was fighting some boss in the church thing, lvl 40 area maybe or more. Osvaldo was lvl 42, Hikari was maybe lvl 32-38 can't quite remember. Granted he had a 200atk sword, but basically I used scholar divine on Os, peacock strut, full boost latent power using the bosses elemental weakness. He hit for 5.4k each tick, 3 ticks total. Hikari self buffed and full boosted brands blade and hit for like 13-15k total. Just insane, Osvaldo has like 500+ elem atk. Hikari had around 440-460+ phys atk.
@@MattyBudzzz Yeah on that note honestly I am not really a big fan of the Scholar Devine to begin with it feels awkward having to spend 3 BP and then find room to get back to 3+BP before the big burst round in addition with all the other buffs and debuffs you wanna make sure is applied the moment you break the boss.
I agree with this list for the most part, but I do have a question. Is the ochette placement taking into account the glitch? If it is, then I can say you need to go back and try out some more of her 10* beasts because she, by a very very large margin, is easily the best character in the game with the glitch. The 10* monsters that make Ochette the best character with the glitch: Battle-Worn Shark - 1x dagger attack to all, restore hp, sp and 1 BP to the party. (Use 3x to keep the Party's HP, SP and BP topped up). Devourer of Dreams - 1x dark attack to all, grants party 2 turns of guaranteed physical dodge and 2 turns of magic reflect. (Use this 3 times in combination with battle-worn shark, and you practically have an invincible party with permenant max hp, sp and BP). The other 10* beasts are nice bonuses once your dodge and reflect has been set up. Two I recommend are: Scourge of the Sea - 1x mace attack and breaks 6 shield (potentially 36 shield breaks in 1 turn) Tyrannodrake - 1x neutral attack to all, lowers enemy phys + elemental attack and phys + Elemental defense. (Mostly all the debuffs you want) Without the need for extensive setup, no other character becomes nearly as broken as the ochette glitch.
I'd say Hikari might be the best character in the game. While concoct and Negotiate are absolutely busted, the learned skills can easily make him one of the most diverse characters in the game. Once I got my hands on divine protection, he was able to make the entire party invincible with one good turn of set up, quickly making him go from a insane damage dealer, to an insane support. The only time that got troubling was against the super boss when they erased buffs.
I know I'm late and Im talking about cold tea, but I have just finished OT II. I think ochette is better than throne, she get more DPS, more flexibility, more control, more AOE and more debuff, y can't think of anything throne makes better than ochette

U til they fix Ochette there's no question she is by far the most OP character if you have certain monsters. You literally can't get hit and will have 3 BP every turn, and those apply to the whole formation not just her.
My issue with Castti is that I don't like being dependant on items and I typically dont have her latent up often during boss fights. I really don't like not having a AOE heal. I know you can give her Cleric for that though. Hired Help is pretty strong too on Partitio as well. Also, for Throne, that disguise move is pretty sick. I kinda ignored it because I think I misunderstood it's description but it's really nice. I also like how she can easily fully heal herself with the double HP attack. I think Ozvald is among the best but his problem is needing more setup then characters like Hikari. You almost want another scholar with him so he can focus on doing damage instead of casting his magic boost stuff on himself. I still really like him though. Being able to hit so many weaknesses with magic and having so many AOE spells was really helpful. Cleric and Arcanist are really good on him. Lots of damage and can Heal and give SP to everyone while doing damage. You can put scholar on others it just comes more natural for him I think and takes less work.
You can buy more than enough of her items easily. Her latent power is actually completely useless when you have like 50 of each. Also she has an AOE heal if she uses diffusing serum as an ingredient which makes all her concocts AOE. It can heal up to 8k I'm pretty sure which is a set value and doesn't need any stat investment.
I agree with this. And it vindicates Partitio as my starting choice lol I might swap Osvald and Ochette. But its just a really minor nitpick simply on the fact he can potentially do more damage that her. Yeah she has that glitch, but thats likely to be patched and outside of that she's just a jack of all trades master of none and is just outshined by somebody else on all she does. She does damage but Osvald and Hikari do it better, she can heal but Castti and Temenos do it better, she has support but Partitio, and Castti do it better... She's just overall good but not great at anything. The only thing I'll say she is on par is breaking shield, but again...Hikari also does it as good but his damage is just better. I barely ever use her unless i have to. And IMO she has the weakest story arc.
I fell out of love with osvald towards the end of the game and Stone of truth just Shines better on Temenos sence it also affects his entire kit also I switched.
Osvald's main issue on a tierlist is that he looks a lot worse if you look at him in a vaccum, compared to what he does with proper support. He needs a BP battery, he wants his magic Augmented, he doesn't perfer to spend all the BP on making x3 magic buffs. His latent power is actually quite strong against bosses, but you need to jump through hoops to get it going.

Since a party will almost always have support, are we looking at individual strengths, or how they work in group dynamics? It's something to think about, since a good player will usually have one support, if not two on their team, and if Hikari is self sufficient...
Good tier list, I appreciate all the OC2 content. I personally approached every character through the lens of the secret boss since the rest of it felt pretty manageable regardless of party with good game knowledge and equipment. And for that purpose, since you have the two teams, I think Hikari was the best, then Osvald for the second team. And then Ochette (without the glitch), Throne (for consistent secondary damage) and Cassti (because concoct) were awesome. The rest, even Partitio, were just there for pretty basic support. I know it’s weird to only think of characters for one fight, but it felt like such a huge difficulty jump. The rest of the game is prep for that fight.
The most i got from that guy is 10x. But there's a thing that some players miss. During a fight Alrond can give you two buffs before running away. I thought it was once and that's it, but then realised you get two chances at it.

Agnea is easily S tier. Easily the best mid game character, and still a hell of a support in the end game. Her first EX is insane if you don't latent spring boots. Dancer does have the best divine skill in the game. The thing is, Agnea does well with any class.
Also her latent power is easily one of the best. She used to be one of my lesser used charaters but now that I got more familiar with her. It feels indeed like she is a bit of a swiss knife, can be whatever you are missing in your team. I died on second phase superboss as my 8 characters werent really super high level & didnt have all the best gear or nuts. My team was just too fragile On second attempt I managed to beat him and all I did was just swapping Agneas secondary job to Cleric just to be extra safe to have 2 healers. Latent support defense & sacred shields for entire team heal all when needed etc not to mention her broken divine ofc :p
Well considering he can one shot the final boss with them and Ochette can lightly tickle the final boss with her provoke beasts, yeah it's a lot stronger. Though Ochette can break the final boss easily which is amazing on its own.
It’s hard to say ochette Vs hikari since ochette trades some damage for utility and hikari has just buffs for himself and damage so it’s a toss up The only way to truly see who is better is to make a list of every npc and monster and see what skills are overall better
Ochette loses a ton of damage as Hikari has the best damage skills in the game. Ochette IA much better as support than Hikari though outside a few weird Hikari builds as arcanist
On paper Casitti is op, however in practice you dont really need to heal hp/sp that often and with bp boost everyone has two bp to start, which means they have 3 bp in the second turn - this is more than enough to kill all mobs and even bosses are pretty much killed or close to it. Regarding buff/debuffs throne/tem at night time is just to op, if they never added those abilities then my opinion would be different for sure. But how often do you actually need to use concot to heal/break or give bp to party members? Apart from secret boss its not needed.

Disagree completely. While Hikari may have access to better buffs and unique skills, Ochette excels in one area that matters more than most realize. Nobody in the game Breaks enemies better than Ochette, with the possible exception of Scholar Temenos w/ Latent Elemental Barrage (and that's only single target). Most bosses with multiple targets have one physical weakness that works on at least 2/3rds of their spots (sometimes all of them, if you're lucky). There are plenty of Beasts in the game that do "Double Hits to All" for every single weapon type. Use Provoke Beasts and, without glitches, you can get up to 12 Shield Hits in one action! That's enough to break all but the strongest of foes, and can completely tip the scales of battle in your favor in a heartbeat. Sure, she using a bunch of BP to do it, but that's what Mama Castti and Partitio are for. Then, if she's your major damage dealer, you can unleash Armmaster's Axe attack or (if your P Attack is ridiculous) Sixfold Strike to really tear enemies apart.
So im not huge into the meta in this game and could be wrong but from playing the first game: Magic in this game is just straight ASS. In the first game whenever i played magic it was super strong always had a good time using it but HERE oh boi it feels like im buffing Osvald to the max only to be a quarter of the dmg the weakest physical does.
Magic takes much more work and typically falls short due to bad single target and set up required for multi hit. It's very powerful in the early and mid game for AOE but realistically not needed
Having almost finished playing octopath 2(haven't done the final boss and some). I could say that Agnea definitely killed me more than the bosses I fought. Yep definitely S tier for me (lol). And yeah I am late to comment here. I'm late to buy the game. 😅

I'd swap Partitio and Ochette; Parti is overrated and Ochette is easy S tier without factoring the glitch since she can do things that others cannot. Provoke Beasts is great for buffs, debuffs and utility.
So Ochette is easy S tier because she can things other characters can't? Which is utility, buffs and debuffs, which actually is something all characters can do. While Parti has negotiate schedule which is quite literally the only way to negate an enemy turn which is broken enough on its own but it also grants him another turn to act. Something literally no other character can do.

Yeah seriously tho, they did a great job of balancing this game. I'd say for me Osvald is really the only one who doesn't have that much going for him... Though he is good at the beginning.
Temenos Scholar is just better IMHO lol... But otherwise, I wouldn't disagree with really any other list as long as a good explanation was given! It's all about your playstyle. A lot more balanced than the first game lol
lol I watch these to keep showing myself why Os was a bad main pick lol. It annoys me to no end when I have both Hikari and Os in the same party and I use Scholar Divine on Os, with peacock strut, and he does like 15k damage at lvl 42 with full boost on unbroken boss. Then I have hikari buff himself with atk and just full boost damage cap like its fucking nothing LOL. Hikari is just there to basically shame osvald after I set Os up over like 2-3 turns, Hikari just walks up and fuckin shits all over him
Osvald is insane early and mid game but falls off late game sadly
Funny enough, Osvald seems to be the most picked as a main. I didn't want to pick him for that reason. I chose Castti because I figured she would be useful throughout the whole game & in most, if not all, fights because of concot.
@@purplatypus7405 I feel like this is a very common thing for spellcasters in general in jrpgs just take Black Mage in Final Fantasy/Bravely Default for example. Mvp in early game because they are the only one who can make quick work of random encounters with multi target attacks then just falls behind when everyone starts unlocking more options.

I was fighting some boss in the church thing, lvl 40 area maybe or more. Osvaldo was lvl 42, Hikari was maybe lvl 32-38 can't quite remember. Granted he had a 200atk sword, but basically I used scholar divine on Os, peacock strut, full boost latent power using the bosses elemental weakness. He hit for 5.4k each tick, 3 ticks total.
Hikari self buffed and full boosted brands blade and hit for like 13-15k total. Just insane, Osvaldo has like 500+ elem atk. Hikari had around 440-460+ phys atk.
@@MattyBudzzz Yeah on that note honestly I am not really a big fan of the Scholar Devine to begin with it feels awkward having to spend 3 BP and then find room to get back to 3+BP before the big burst round in addition with all the other buffs and debuffs you wanna make sure is applied the moment you break the boss.
I agree with this list for the most part, but I do have a question. Is the ochette placement taking into account the glitch? If it is, then I can say you need to go back and try out some more of her 10* beasts because she, by a very very large margin, is easily the best character in the game with the glitch.
The 10* monsters that make Ochette the best character with the glitch:
Battle-Worn Shark - 1x dagger attack to all, restore hp, sp and 1 BP to the party. (Use 3x to keep the Party's HP, SP and BP topped up).
Devourer of Dreams - 1x dark attack to all, grants party 2 turns of guaranteed physical dodge and 2 turns of magic reflect. (Use this 3 times in combination with battle-worn shark, and you practically have an invincible party with permenant max hp, sp and BP).
The other 10* beasts are nice bonuses once your dodge and reflect has been set up. Two I recommend are:
Scourge of the Sea - 1x mace attack and breaks 6 shield (potentially 36 shield breaks in 1 turn)
Tyrannodrake - 1x neutral attack to all, lowers enemy phys + elemental attack and phys + Elemental defense. (Mostly all the debuffs you want)
Without the need for extensive setup, no other character becomes nearly as broken as the ochette glitch.
I mention specifically that point. Her placement is ignoring the glitch.

I'd say Hikari might be the best character in the game. While concoct and Negotiate are absolutely busted, the learned skills can easily make him one of the most diverse characters in the game. Once I got my hands on divine protection, he was able to make the entire party invincible with one good turn of set up, quickly making him go from a insane damage dealer, to an insane support. The only time that got troubling was against the super boss when they erased buffs.
This is exactly why I am going with Hikari as my first solo run character

I know I'm late and Im talking about cold tea, but I have just finished OT II. I think ochette is better than throne, she get more DPS, more flexibility, more control, more AOE and more debuff, y can't think of anything throne makes better than ochette

U til they fix Ochette there's no question she is by far the most OP character if you have certain monsters. You literally can't get hit and will have 3 BP every turn, and those apply to the whole formation not just her.

My issue with Castti is that I don't like being dependant on items and I typically dont have her latent up often during boss fights. I really don't like not having a AOE heal. I know you can give her Cleric for that though. Hired Help is pretty strong too on Partitio as well. Also, for Throne, that disguise move is pretty sick. I kinda ignored it because I think I misunderstood it's description but it's really nice. I also like how she can easily fully heal herself with the double HP attack. I think Ozvald is among the best but his problem is needing more setup then characters like Hikari. You almost want another scholar with him so he can focus on doing damage instead of casting his magic boost stuff on himself. I still really like him though. Being able to hit so many weaknesses with magic and having so many AOE spells was really helpful. Cleric and Arcanist are really good on him. Lots of damage and can Heal and give SP to everyone while doing damage. You can put scholar on others it just comes more natural for him I think and takes less work.
You can buy more than enough of her items easily. Her latent power is actually completely useless when you have like 50 of each. Also she has an AOE heal if she uses diffusing serum as an ingredient which makes all her concocts AOE. It can heal up to 8k I'm pretty sure which is a set value and doesn't need any stat investment.

I agree with this. And it vindicates Partitio as my starting choice lol I might swap Osvald and Ochette. But its just a really minor nitpick simply on the fact he can potentially do more damage that her. Yeah she has that glitch, but thats likely to be patched and outside of that she's just a jack of all trades master of none and is just outshined by somebody else on all she does. She does damage but Osvald and Hikari do it better, she can heal but Castti and Temenos do it better, she has support but Partitio, and Castti do it better... She's just overall good but not great at anything. The only thing I'll say she is on par is breaking shield, but again...Hikari also does it as good but his damage is just better. I barely ever use her unless i have to. And IMO she has the weakest story arc.
I fell out of love with osvald towards the end of the game and Stone of truth just Shines better on Temenos sence it also affects his entire kit also I switched.
You didnt see ochette summon 6 lvl 10 monsters including Let's Say 3 sharks to gain 3 BP for the whole team and Do it AGAIN next turn lol
Osvald's main issue on a tierlist is that he looks a lot worse if you look at him in a vaccum, compared to what he does with proper support.
He needs a BP battery, he wants his magic Augmented, he doesn't perfer to spend all the BP on making x3 magic buffs.
His latent power is actually quite strong against bosses, but you need to jump through hoops to get it going.
He is reasonably strong but just less damage than Hikari while also needing a lot more support
@@purplatypus7405 Well, here's the wrinkle that makes it hard to rank a lot of the travelers: it's a full band of 4 in a party. Since a party will almost always have support, are we looking at individual strengths, or how they work in group dynamics?
It's something to think about, since a good player will usually have one support, if not two on their team, and if Hikari is self sufficient...

Good tier list, I appreciate all the OC2 content.
I personally approached every character through the lens of the secret boss since the rest of it felt pretty manageable regardless of party with good game knowledge and equipment. And for that purpose, since you have the two teams, I think Hikari was the best, then Osvald for the second team. And then Ochette (without the glitch), Throne (for consistent secondary damage) and Cassti (because concoct) were awesome. The rest, even Partitio, were just there for pretty basic support. I know it’s weird to only think of characters for one fight, but it felt like such a huge difficulty jump. The rest of the game is prep for that fight.
Alrond is the worst character in game ... he never wants to give me 100x XP buff... D TIER
The most i got from that guy is 10x. But there's a thing that some players miss. During a fight Alrond can give you two buffs before running away. I thought it was once and that's it, but then realised you get two chances at it.
You kinda get 6 chances since you can summon him 3 times a fight

Agnea is easily S tier. Easily the best mid game character, and still a hell of a support in the end game. Her first EX is insane if you don't latent spring boots. Dancer does have the best divine skill in the game. The thing is, Agnea does well with any class.
I was trying to fit a Hunter into my team when I found her EX skill. Literally AoE Leghold lol.
Also her latent power is easily one of the best. She used to be one of my lesser used charaters but now that I got more familiar with her. It feels indeed like she is a bit of a swiss knife, can be whatever you are missing in your team.
I died on second phase superboss as my 8 characters werent really super high level & didnt have all the best gear or nuts.
My team was just too fragile
On second attempt I managed to beat him and all I did was just swapping Agneas secondary job to Cleric just to be extra safe to have 2 healers.
Latent support defense & sacred shields for entire team heal all when needed etc not to mention her broken divine ofc :p

I've been using Cleric Hikari. SP is a non-issue. Mystical Staff can instant refill SP (even a non-crit).
Well considering he can one shot the final boss with them and Ochette can lightly tickle the final boss with her provoke beasts, yeah it's a lot stronger. Though Ochette can break the final boss easily which is amazing on its own.
It’s hard to say ochette Vs hikari since ochette trades some damage for utility and hikari has just buffs for himself and damage so it’s a toss up
The only way to truly see who is better is to make a list of every npc and monster and see what skills are overall better
Ochette loses a ton of damage as Hikari has the best damage skills in the game. Ochette IA much better as support than Hikari though outside a few weird Hikari builds as arcanist
On paper Casitti is op, however in practice you dont really need to heal hp/sp that often and with bp boost everyone has two bp to start, which means they have 3 bp in the second turn - this is more than enough to kill all mobs and even bosses are pretty much killed or close to it. Regarding buff/debuffs throne/tem at night time is just to op, if they never added those abilities then my opinion would be different for sure. But how often do you actually need to use concot to heal/break or give bp to party members? Apart from secret boss its not needed.

I was struggling with Hikari vs Ochette for my start. Seems, glitch aside, it's Hikari no contest for damage. Which is a shame, Ochette looks cool as armsmaster.
Disagree completely. While Hikari may have access to better buffs and unique skills, Ochette excels in one area that matters more than most realize. Nobody in the game Breaks enemies better than Ochette, with the possible exception of Scholar Temenos w/ Latent Elemental Barrage (and that's only single target).
Most bosses with multiple targets have one physical weakness that works on at least 2/3rds of their spots (sometimes all of them, if you're lucky). There are plenty of Beasts in the game that do "Double Hits to All" for every single weapon type. Use Provoke Beasts and, without glitches, you can get up to 12 Shield Hits in one action! That's enough to break all but the strongest of foes, and can completely tip the scales of battle in your favor in a heartbeat. Sure, she using a bunch of BP to do it, but that's what Mama Castti and Partitio are for.
Then, if she's your major damage dealer, you can unleash Armmaster's Axe attack or (if your P Attack is ridiculous) Sixfold Strike to really tear enemies apart.
I’ve only been playing with the eastern people first so I guess the western people will be an easier run
Keep in mind in order to beat the game you will need to do every chapter forball 8 characters

So im not huge into the meta in this game and could be wrong but from playing the first game: Magic in this game is just straight ASS. In the first game whenever i played magic it was super strong always had a good time using it but HERE oh boi it feels like im buffing Osvald to the max only to be a quarter of the dmg the weakest physical does.
Magic takes much more work and typically falls short due to bad single target and set up required for multi hit. It's very powerful in the early and mid game for AOE but realistically not needed
Having almost finished playing octopath 2(haven't done the final boss and some). I could say that Agnea definitely killed me more than the bosses I fought. Yep definitely S tier for me (lol).

I'd swap Partitio and Ochette; Parti is overrated and Ochette is easy S tier without factoring the glitch since she can do things that others cannot. Provoke Beasts is great for buffs, debuffs and utility.
So Ochette is easy S tier because she can things other characters can't? Which is utility, buffs and debuffs, which actually is something all characters can do. While Parti has negotiate schedule which is quite literally the only way to negate an enemy turn which is broken enough on its own but it also grants him another turn to act. Something literally no other character can do.
@@seven_8434 I believe negotiate cannot be used on superboss. So, that's also kinda lower the value.
