im pretty sure rickons importance will dramaticly increase in the next cupla(???)books. the fact that hes one of the last stark kids,he still has shaggydog,osha,he was having the same premonitions as bran...the fact that he doesnt have a storyline now doesnt mean they can let him fade into oblivion...can they??

Very well said. Rickon didn't have ANY significance so far, so he probably will have huge importance in the books to come. Otherwise why have him as a character at all? There's a reason for there being 5 Stark children, and not 4, we just don't know what is it yet.
Yeah they're probably going to do it like Martin originally intended, with the typical rotating PoV chapters and no segregation of characters between seasons.
Why does everyone think Westeros is like Britain! It's not at all like Britain it's an entire continent! You have ice in the north and desert in the South
It's more a political thing; I suppose it's less obvious if you aren't familiar with British history. King's Landing in the south is the centre of political power, reminiscent of London, it's a very socially divided world, much like pre-industrial Britain it has no middle class. Meanwhile in the North, while it's colder and poorer, the people are more friendly and reliable and worships a different pantheon of gods, much like the Viking Age North England. Then beyond the wall is just Scotland.
I wonder how they'll do A Feast for Crows. I don't think it's good for TV to cut out your three main characters. I guess they could combine Crows and Dragons into like three seasons.
