- When we saw this unsuspecting Cobalt with Hoosiers on the front, we weren’t sure what to expect! Not only did this bad boy whoop up on a GT-R, it also gave a ZR-1 a run for it’s money! This Cobalt owner swapped the supercharger for a turbocharger and it DEFINITELY woke this car up!

uh, everyone builds them. I only know of a few that are still stock lol. WAAAAAAY more rare to find them stock than modified.
Stoney Baker I use to whoop so much ass in my turbo balt. One with full boltons n tune can beat pretty much anything with 400whp or less on the road. I even beat scat pack chargers up to about 155mph

I got a stock 06 sc... I never did anything to it due to always getting in trouble lol... but I wanna tune it now... where should I start? any advice appreciated :)
Depends how much $$$ you want to spend but the gm stage upgrades are a good place to start, suspension, maybe even covert it to a turbo if you've got some $ to burn. I've got two Cobalts a 2006 LS with the L61 since brand new(which have grown to love this platform from her) with just basic bolts on's like cai, 2.25" exhaust manifold back w/high flow cat, short shifter, jet maf sensor, front strut brace, Bosch +4 spark plugs, power stop rotors and pads. My other cobalt is a 2010 SS/TC for a few years now with k&n/aem upgraded short ram intake, xs 3" turbo back and will do the gm stage 1 upgrade soon along with suspension and brakes. since this will be my Sunday driver and my 2006 will have a fully built ecotec(not sure but leaning towards an LSJ block for mpfi) will be my project.
Cobalt is shit. Chevy needed it to boost their mpg ratings for the epa. Their main money is in their trucks. My ecotec suffered the infamous timing chain failure. Built cheap, sold cheap
OFFICIAL NSA your stupid it’s direct injection is powerful you trendy moron you don’t know anything about how engines work probably an idiot that thinks engine size wins races this car has various advantages over the gtr it’s lighter it has a coolant boost intake and exhaust modes with performance chip and gdi oil with a race filter and magnesium rims and a special suspension system and plenty of traction an awd won’t help it cuase the car has no weight in the back the awd would just weigh it down
you can with good fab knowledge and some research...theres civics running awd k series kits off honda elements and honda pilots pushing 7s and 8s on the track. there are even aftermarket companies like humble performance selling bolt on rear trailing arm kits for the rear diff. and mounts, im pretty sure these kits could work on a cobalt.
I have had a 2006 supercharged Cobalt and the 2008 Turbo and dozens of other high perf cars including turbo mustangs, tunnel rammed 460 cars with nitrous etc etc etc and one of my fav all around cars was that Turbo SS Cobalt. Like a little razor blade in traffic. If I drove easy it would get incredibly good mileage and when it was go time the car was fast enough to get it done. The engineering in the SS Turbo Cobalt was top notch. I drive a 2014 Mustang GT now because its a more comfortable for my commute but I wish I still had that Cobalt. First GM with Direct Injection, way more power per litre than almost any GM car including new Z07. Don't knock it until you actually have driven one...

I love my 09, my last car was a 08 zo6 and had an 04 zo6 before as well. I honestly must say my cobalt is so much fun and it pulls as hard as my 04 zo6 in its current tune. Fantastic power for the money. Great little car.
Bought a J-body with the, then new 2 .2 Ecotec. Each of my three kiddos drove it. I still got it. And it still gets it. Delta platform seems to iron out suspension issues. The J's on launch, squat aft pretty bad. Mulling a set of KYB Adjustables. But I'm old. My kidneys don't like the bumps.

Because it's usually driven by ricer kids who are forced to buy domestic. Not all cobalt and srt-4 drivers are ricers, but many are.
It doesn't matter what car you have, you can make all cars go fast in a strait line.

That's a fast ass cobalt straight up. I will always love and enjoy v8's more than any other engine but it's insane what the 4cyl can do these days along with the v6. No hate just trying to respect all fast bad ass cars no matter what make they are our what they got under the hood.

Hell yeah I love my 08 cobalt ss with every mod it gets better n better I'm saving up for the turbo upgrade package from zzp for the lnf that package and stage gm 1 sensors and a stage 3 clutch itll be about 4400.00 bucks but will be so worth it I cant wait I'll have to sell the knn dry air intake that the package comes with cuz I'm keeping my aem cold air intake on cuz that's the best intake imo

Cobalt's are pretty underrated. The other a Cobalt SS did a quick fly-by and to be honest, it the scared the shit out of me. Wasn't expecting that loud of a supercharger whine and the crackles in the exhaust. They're pretty cool cars if you set them up right!

As a Ford guy I don't like to admit it, but a friend of mine has an '09 Cobalt SS (one that has the stock turbo and not a s/c) and that thing is SUPER fun to drive and surprisingly quick!

***** he's 2900lbs, and the gearing is probably very short in the cobalt, the zr1 has gearing to go over 200mph, a zr1 is around 3600lbs and the GTR is heavier besides that he has slicks, weight is a lot more important than you think.

Yeah true for about 2 grand you can turbo it. I forget how cheap these cars are now. I have had mine for 9 years but have the same LS manual. Partly because they are so cheap I couldn't get rid of mine for that because it is worth more to me, so I made it fast instead lol. It's a blast to autocross.
JD B Mine was in a minor accident(hit a deer, dented the hood, slightly bent the radiator core support) and also had a dent from a drunk neighbor kicking the passenger door and the guy I bought it from was about to have twins when he already had two kids so didn't want a couple. Got it for a steal of a price. Fixed up the minor issues. Bam, great car to get to college for the next few years at least. With 141k miles on it I likely won't turbo it, but in the future when I have more money I may end up buying an SS because even the LS is incredibly fun to drive.

We're you running the stock F35, or had you swapped for a F23/F40? Just ordered an f40 setup from OTTP, and big turbo from ZZP. Already full bolt ons otherwise.
